Little Bit Finds His Forever Home

This past weekend, Little Bit got to go to the home he has been waiting to find for months! He will be treated like a king in his new home being the only pet. Thanks to all those who helped get this old man to the place he was meant to be!

I actually took that picture when he was laying on the couch waiting for the adopter to come get him. He was sort of weird that morning. I really think he knew and was patiently waiting for her.

Kristen

I am so happy for all of you, he had been with NEBTR a long time. Thank you for caring for him and being patient to find the right home. And thanks to his new family for choosing to adopt, not shop. - Jeanne

Well done Kristen!  I'm gonna miss seeing that little heart on his head in those photos you would send.
Good to know he's going to get the royal treatment. :)

Adoptable Pup Spotlight! SAMSON

Hi everyone... thanks for stopping by to read my spotlight. I wanted to tell you my story. Pardon me if I stutter a little, you see.. I am just starting to gain self-confidence and be proud of who I am and where I came from.

NEBTR rescued me from a puppy mill. For six years, they used me to breed litter after litter of puppies - like a machine. I never knew warm beds or snuggles, I never knew squeaky toys or Kongs with peanut butter or "good boy." I never knew human love.

My foster mom Jill has been working with me to help me realize that I don't have to be so scared anymore. That I have a new life now - and I am safe and cared for, and special. But most important - I am WANTED.

When I came to foster care, I was scared of my own shadow. Over the past few months, I have made great strides. I can jump up on the couch now and be with my humans. I learned how to sleep in a doggy bed. I am even facing my fear of the bath (I never had one before).

I get along with the other resident dogs just fine, and have no major health issues.

In my soul, I am a sweet and gentle boy who desperately wants to love and be loved in returned.

Could you be my forever home?

Love,
Samson

Max - One Week Adoption Update

Hello! I just wanted to give the fantastic folks at NEBTR an update on how Max is doing one week after being adopted into his forever home.

Early last week I was contacted by Max's foster mom, Christine. I had expressed an interest in Max and we chatted it up for a few days. During that time I learned a lot about Max, including the history of his eye injury. This didn't bother me in the slightest because my first boston had a bad left eye that required the exact same medication, so I was confident I could care for him. I also learned that Max was not a snuggler, and probably would not lay on the couch with me or sleep in my bed. This devastated me... I cried as I pondered whether or not I could adopt a dog that would not snuggle with me.

Last Friday I made the trek from Niagara Falls, NY to Shavertown, PA to meet Max and see if he was the dog for me. I gave it a lot of thought and decided that all that mattered was Max's happiness. And if he wasn't going to be sad then I couldn't be sad. If he was happy on the floor then I would be happy with that, and if the day ever came that he wanted to snuggle me then there would be a spot for him.

Well...things have certainly taken a turn. Max was welcomed with open arms and paws as I introduced him to my family last Saturday afternoon. My two young sons love him, as well as his two furry sisters. He quickly learned the ropes and has made himself right at home. He has even become quite the snuggler after all! He loves to play with his ball, which my kids are happy to toss for him all day, but when it's time to relax he is all about it. He loves to lay next to my husband or myself on the couch, loves his scratchies on the head, and we even caught him laying on our bed yesterday! I am so glad that I gave this "non-snuggler" a chance. He has come out of his shell and is actually quite affectionate. He gave my littlest son a big lick in the face last night.

Huge thanks to the people at NEBTR that made this possible, especially Maria, Strausie and Max's Mama Christine. We have been in contact with Mama Christine every day and send her lots of pics. She loves Max dearly, and I remind Max of that every day. Attached are some pics of Max enjoying his new home! Thanks NEBTR!! Keep doing what you do!!

Wow Max! You lucked out!!! Lucky dog, lucky family..... (uh - he looks pretty snuggly to us!)

Dexter is Adopted!

Dexter just left with his new family.  They had a great introduction. Dexter was a bit nervous leaving but that was to be expected. He will be living in Massachusetts and will be going to school starting on Wednesday!  He will have full confidence and trust before we know it!  Thank you to Maggie and John who are 100% dedicated to give Dexter exactly what he needs. This is one lucky boy who will loved forever.

Congrats to everyone!

Wow! Look at all those smiles! Great job everyone.

Glory is Adopted!

My foster Glory is being adopted by a dog savvy, loving couple in Glenville NY.  He'll have a 13 year old blind sister/playmate, Bella, two loving parents, a nice suburban home, and a family camp in the Catskills.  His dad works from home, professional photographer, and his mom works part-time so he'll have his humans with him all the time and Bella for company on the very rare occasions when they are not. Plus, his new family always take the canine kids with them on vacation.

Thank you Jeanne, congratulations to the new parents and way to go Glory!!!

Curley is adopted!

Curley was adopted today. The children in this family were beyond good
with Curley. Never met better behaved kids in my life, and I'm OLD! lol
Just as we finished up the paperwork, the song coming over the speakers
in the PetCo was "Best Day of my Life" the adoption song that makes me
tear up!
It was a most wonderful adoption day. :)

Congratulations Curley! This is the best day of your life!!

Ellie is Adopted

Siobhan Huck, her husband,  their little boy, and their pug Mason came to meet Ellie today. Of course at first it was all barking from Ellie, (all directed at Mason) but she settled down, we went for a walk together,  and ultimately she decided he was an ok guy.

She liked the human son immediately,  and licked him like crazy! That kid never has to worry "do I have food on my face?" Ever again. Hoorah! This family knows their stuff, and will continue to work with Ellie on her walking manners. I am thrilled she found a perfect match!

Thank you as always for all the support!
Erin

Thank you Erin for all that you have done for Ellie and so many of our pups!

Harry is Adopted

Hello All --

Harry was adopted on Friday night; he'll be living with his new dads, Lane & Steve in Brooklyn.

Harry had a close call at the shelter before he got into rescue; Myrtle's awesome foster mom Carrie Cranmer pulled him from the Camden, DE SPCA the day he was scheduled to be put down.

Harry had suspected ringworm and a bunch of other ailments when he got to us, but good food & lots of love (and some antibiotics & medicated shampoo) made all the difference.

Harry will have a Boston brother, Oscar, and be a well-loved family member -- a far cry from being a stray in the shelter.

Yay for rescue --

Hooray for Harry-much happiness to all!

Your second chance at life is going to be an awesome one! Enjoy your new life!!  And special thanks to Erin and Katie, who did a great job in getting him ready for his forever home!

Former foster Lilly's new Brother

Here is Lilly loving life with her new little brother. I could not have asked for a better match. It was a mere 2 months ago when she only knew the harsh life of a puppy mill. She has left that far behind and the future is bright for Miss Lilly. I am so happy for her.

This is incredible and thank you foster mom for getting this little girl to her forever home!
