Norman goes to the Rainbow Bridge

I just got a message from Amy Jansky who adopted Norman from NEBTR after fostering him and a failed adoption brought him back to her.  He came to NEBTR about 6 years ago.

Norman has been failing lately and this morning Amy woke up to him having problems breathing, very raspy.  She made an appt with the vet for this afternoon and when she went to get him for the appt, found that he had crossed the Bridge in his sleep. He was almost 15.  Poor Norman was both blind and deaf at the end but never wanted for anything, was well loved and had an endless supply of tennis balls which he absolutely loved.  RIP Norman. Go play with the Angels.  Look for Sunday Valentine as she just arrived too. On a happier note, Amy gave birth a month ago to twin boys.  Although born prematurely, they are both home and doing great.

Prayers and love to you Amy and thank you for giving this boy 6 good years. We have attached a picture of Norman when he was 12 so that we can remember this dear boy.

Send Good Thoughts to Norman

NORMAN 008

Please send prayers and good thoughts for my former foster Norman who was adopted by Kathy & Mike Burke a year ago.  He has had tummy issues (my technical term) on and off since they adopted him in spite of never having any problems while he was with us :(   He is down to 16 lbs and has had to receive IV fluids while doctors are trying to figure out his problem.  The doctors now think that he has a partial blockage somewhere and are looking to do barium swallow x ray.  Today, He was also having trouble breathing and was injected with antibiotics for possible aspiration pneumonia.  He is the sweetest boy and is dearly loved by his parents.

Update on Norman

My husband and i became FB friends with a couple who adopted a pup from NEBTR his name is Norman.  Well we finally were able to work out our schedules and we got to meet Kathy, Mike and Norman.  I have to say you guys did an amazing job of finding Norman the perfect home.  Mike and Kathy are amazing with Norman.  He is an adorable tiny little brindle boy.  Such a bright little guy.  I hope all the pups in the rescue can get as amazing parents as Norman did .  They are absolutely the best.

Kathy and Mike are totally devoted to Norm. Even though he has had some bowel issues they are working with their vet and coming up with some good solutions to his health issues.  I really just wanted to share what a tremendous success story this is for Norman.   You guys got him the perfect home and i have to say he looks like a very happy pup...

Thanks for all you do for these guys.. Norm is a testament to all you do for these guys.
Thanks
Loretta Miner

Loretta,

I was Norman's foster and you are right, Mike and Kathy are the perfect home for him.  They were dedicated parents right from the beginning, they drove 5 hours (each way) to pick Norman up, even though I offered to meet part of the way, they did all the driving because they didn't want Norman to be anxious.  He was such a sweetheart that it was really difficult to part with him but I just knew that he would be going to the best home.  And he did!  I feel honored to have been just a small part of Norman finding his perfect home and proud to be part of a rescue that puts the needs of these sweet dogs first.

Norman's On His Way Home

Norman's wonderful parents made a 5 hour trip (each way) to pick him up at our house today. They didn't want to meet halfway because they thought it would be better for Norman since he is so nervous. He is going to an amazing home and the Burkes are so excited to have him join their family. He loved the Burkes right away and settled down in their laps while we chatted about him for over an hour. What a great couple! This is my first adoption so I am proud of myself for keeping a stiff upper lip, that is, until the Burkes left. Then I promptly burst into tears. I am so happy for Norman and for the wonderful life that he will have in his forever home!

New Foster Norman

We took in our new foster, Norman, on Saturday. Surrendered from a multi-dog family, he was not given the attention he needed so is still a bit timid, lots of love will cure that. . The owner just stated that the other dogs didn't like him. He is crate trained, no accidents at night or when you leave him during the day.    He is super gentle and sweet with my husband and I and our 12 year old son.  He is currently in our kitchen, eating area & mudroom.

He would be an excellent dog for a quieter home. He is so happy to just sit next to you and get some loving. If you stop petting him, he gently lifts his paw and taps you- it's the cutest thing.   I know this sweet, sweet boy just needs a little time, calm and patience to continue to blossom. We absolutely love him already and can't imagine how anyone could possibly have given him up.

Meet our brand new foster, Norman. We just got him today and he is a sweetheart. We will be giving more info as we get to know Norman. So far I can say that he loves cuddles, baked organic chicken breast and wearing sweaters! Cindy Kaiser
