Adoptable Pups Spotlight! EDDIE and PEARL

Together, 
wherever we go… Yes, we are BFFs - in your home, your bed, your yard, our crate, if you see one of us you can bet the other will be nearby: we are inseparable. We were tossed on the street together, with nowhere to go, no home of our own, but we survived by always protecting and caring for each other, we shared our fate. Then one magic day, we were saved, lucky us, and moved to a nice home with caring people. We are so happy that we don’t even mind baths or vets, just content with the love, attention, toys, and food.

We
even get along with the resident seven year old and her friends, she’s very gentle and understands dogs, and our mom lets us sleep with her under the covers too, we just love to cuddle up with Mom or her daughter.

We
love toys and playing with you, especially fetch or tug, happily run around the yard where we know we’re safe, and enjoy our treats, but we know to be quiet too. You see, we’ve learned not to bark, though we will whine a bit when you put us in our shared crate. And might get a little anxious when you leave for awhile, we’re concerned about not seeing our humans ever again since it’s happened to us before. But we respond well to treats, so we’re easy to train. And we’re both housebroken, though the male member of the team occasionally still marks his territory, it’s a guy thing, though getting much better about that.

But
Eddie sometimes tries to dominate the resident canine, not a good idea, and is very protective of Pearl, that’s what best friends forever do. And if Pearl gets nervous or scared, Eddie will come right over and lay on top of Pearl to protect her.

Because
we are so very close, we would probably be best as the only dogs in the house: we’ve learned to rely completely on each other and there may not be room in our hearts or our heads for a threesome or more, unless its people, we really love you all and want to be your pals.

Adoptable Pup Spotlight! EDDIE

Have you always loved Boston Terriers but secretly missed the idea of a long happily wagging tail? Well, no need to go without either any longer!

You can have the best of both worlds with me, Eddie the adorable 16 month old Boston Terrier Mix!
My foster mom says I have sunshine for a personality. I’m as sweet as can be and I get along great with all dogs and people of all ages. I like to play play play! But no worries, my switch isn’t always stuck in the “on” position. I would love to cuddle up in your lap with my head tucked under your chin, or chill out curled up next to you on the couch watching TV.
I’m young, fun, and I listen pretty well. My training is really coming along but I’ll need your help and patience to get me the rest of the way. My ideal forever family might have youngsters or another dog looking for a playmate. Or maybe an active adult looking for an adventure partner. You see, my “mix” not only gave me a full length tail, it also gave me more of an athletic build than your typical BT. I’m a little bit taller and a little bit longer. I weigh about 27lbs and I have perfect BT markings. My fur is silky and shiny. My tail has a little white tip, and one ear is up and one is bent. People stop my Foster Mom all the time to tell her how handsome I am. I love the attention! So what do you think? Could I be the boy for you?

P.S. I like fun cool kitties who like dogs and like to play as I do try to play with them as if they were doggies.

Eddie Goes to the Rainbow Bridge

Our sympathy goes out to Judy, who reports, "We lost Eddie this afternoon to a stroke.  Thank goodness my vet was at the hospital.  He went peacefully.  I pray that he's crossing the bridge and running and playing and with sight!!   My heart hurts as it does with each one who moves on."

Judy and her family gave Eddie such love and caring, that he knew he was loved for the last part of his life.  It is remarkable people like Judy who make the NEBTR what it is.

Eddie's Story

Eddie was found as a stray in Edison. When found, he was a bag of bones, the poor thing. He arrived blind in one eye and could only see shadows with the other. His teeth were very bad due to malnutrition and the vet was able to was able to tell his foster mom Judy that Eddie is a senior citizen.

Judy takes him to the dog park every day, and says runs walks around like a drunken sailor! (For those of you familiar with drunken sailors!) He tends to wonder aimlessly and has no brakes, probably because he's blind. You have to keep a constant eye on him because he trips and falls over things in his way and if the car window is open all the way he'll jump out.

Recently the vet determined that Eddie was in great pain because of the condition of his eyes. The vet recommended that they be removed. He had surgery in August. Judy reports, "Eddie is home. He handled the surgery well and he's actually back to his ole self. It took him a little longer than most to come out of the anesthesia and he had to stay overnight but he's doing well. His pain level is much lower now that the eyes are gone. He woke up this am with no swelling! I'm amazed at well he's healing. He will be much easier to manage without those eyes. He'll be a happier doggie! Thank you all for your prayers! He's still quite a dapper fellow. My husband's new nickname for him is Eddie Wonder!"

Judy continues, "Eddie is such a trip and I'm sure at some point in his life he was loved, (just a long time ago), but here he's making up for lost time. He's really attached to my daughter Nicole. He follows her everywhere and they've become great buds. "

Eddie Update

I everyone, I don't post often but I had to show off Eddie's new look.
For those of you who don't remember Eddie he was the stray from Edison. A bag of bones, the poor thing. He loves to go to doggie park and we had a hard time using the Ecollar because he couldn't hear anything. It was very frustrating for him. But...his new doggeles from Foster and Smith opened up a whole new world for those old back legs to navigate!! NOt to mention what a splash he's made in the world of fashion at the Wantage Dog Park!! LOL!
