Maya's Gotcha Day

One year ago Maya went to her forever home. She was a high risk biter, she needed time, patience, trust, guidance, training and confidence. She found an adopter willing to visit and learn how to handle her. Watch his hands in the video he moves slow always letting her know where and when he will touch her. They adore her! They called me this wknd. they will be looking for a passive boy eventually and they will not be afraid to adopt a boy with a history! Amazing (1) year later Reggie with a bite history is arriving at my home tonight! Praying for another happy ending! Thanks team, you make all things possible!

Maya: Love Can Heal

We visited Maya on Saturday! Love can heal ALL and this couple is beyond amazing!  Maya has them completely trained. Few people can really handle Miss Maya. One has to have extreme confidence.  This couples mom in her 80's can handle Maya like she's a baby doll. If you remember Maya's owner had passed she was a woman in her 80's. Maya is safe and comforted by this elderly grandma that lives in an in-law downstairs. Maya was full of spunk and there has been a BIG change in Maya's life she has fur playmates. This couple had friends with dogs and it was important that they get along so they started slow and Maya now plays, shares and sleep curled up with labs and other dogs. They may be looking to adopt a passive male for Miss Maya in the future! Happy for John & Claudia but really thrilled for Miss Maya!

Love happily ever after!

Maria, all your hard work with her paved the way for a wonderful life for Maya.  You must be thrilled!

Former foster Maya does the dishes (pre-wash cycle)

Remember Maya?

Maya's mom and dad said she loves to help out in the kitchen and they sent this photo. Laughter is at times good medicine, we thanked them for sharing this one! Maya is spoiled rotten but they are committed for life and love all her antics, she remains well behaved and mellows out more each day.

Maya Goes Home

Maya is in her new home, this morning John and Claudia Saprano report they are so in love with her and they will not fail her. They are following instructions to the letter and they met with Maya's trainer yesterday evening. They said, "Maya new exactly what to do but we clearly need more training." They have signed up for more classes and as we spoke Maya was on their bed soaking up the sun! They could not be happier! (lots of tears yesterday morning but it's all worth it)

Maya knew her daddy well, instead of her nub wiggling when she sees him her entire body wiggles. They visited for several weeks and she had a sleep over. Maya is where she belongs! Take a look and I am sure you'll agree!   They had many visits but from day one when she is with him she just lights up. We took her part of the way but he was clearly meant to complete her journey!

Thank you all for the incredible support!
Hugs from the BT's in CT

September 27TH will be HAPPY GOTCHYA DAY for Miss Maya! We have had her since Feb. 22, she was only 13lbs. failing to thrive, labeled a fear biter and so stressed when her owner died, 3 months in a shelter almost killed her! Friday 10am she will leave us and join her mommy, daddy and grandma in Cromwell. Happy Tears For Maya?

Maya

When her back is not turned this is our stubborn but incredibly loving girl, she gives kisses all day long!

When Maya does not want to listen, this is what she does! It reminds me of my teenager daughter! They have so much in common, she is a special girl ready for a forever home, no children, dogs or cats!

Thank you, Maria Pastuszak, for fostering Maya and so many other Boston Terriers until they find the perfect families and new homes.

Maya Plays and Trains

So proud of Maya, 2 injections and nails clipped, no muzzle needed. She was filled with kisses and a wiggling nub. She had never been to our vet before but she is really stepping into a secure and happy place! Not ever day in rescue feels good, some are emotional, exhausting, frustrating but today is a feel good day! Furever home coming up...(Maya had gone from 22 lbs. to 13 in the shelter, she shut down and failed to thrive, she is now 21 lbs. looking and feeling good!)

Maya Makes Progress

maya

Thanks to the loving care of Maria Pastuszak, Maya is making definite progress.

Maria writes, “Maya, age 3, arrived Feb. 22nd, and she suffered severe trauma in a shelter for 3 months after the death of her senior owner.  She is a high strung fear biter with a very short fuse. Maya has now completed private, group and home training. Maya is happy, secure and working to please her human companions. Her nub wiggled as she lovingly greeted all our guests at the Memorial Day BBQ. Maya earns everything given to her, food, treats, toys, she has mastered sit, stay, down, leave it and we continue to work on heel, she is a good girl when walking, but trauma still remains and triggers are now easily identified. Maya is a bully if allowed, therefore training is not a period in time, Maya's training must remain part of her daily life. Maya is funny, animated, loves a bit of fresh air and shaking a toy vigorously but her favorite thing is cuddling in bed.

We adore Maya, she has worked so hard to please! We are proud of this girl and one day will cry many tears when she leaves us!”

Fantastic job, Maria and family.  What a turn around.  It is certainly why we do what we do.  Keep up the great work.  I know that Maya's forever family is out there.

New Foster Maya

Maya, a three years old beauty, was in a shelter in Cornwall, CT for three months, where she was very stressed.  She foamed through her nose when they powerwashed the kennel. Noises really stressed her out.

Maria Pastusz offered to help out this girl.  When she first got Maya, Maria noted, "Maya is awesome with my 15 year old daughter. Maya needs some basic training and manners but she is housebroken, spay in good health, and a real love bug, she will give you kisses and more. She is busy busy I see high energy and the shelter confirmed her energy level. I truly think she would benefit greatly moving  into the right home where she can be an only child and live happily ever after."

Maya needs help in her foster home to overcome her issues.  She has a strong high personality which was compounded by the nervous experiences she had at the shelter.  She can be as sweet as she is assertive,  and Maria will work with her to bring this out.

Thank you so much, Maria, for all that you are doing for this very stressed pup.  It is awesome that she is settling in so well, and blossoming under your care!
