Manley received a box of wonderful gifts.  He wants to thank his Santa Jeff Chance for everything.  It really made the holiday special for him,  and his foster mom Jane Tirc is very grateful.

Update on Manley

For the month of December Julie Klam rescue stories from NEBTR on her blog.

This is the story of Manley, it comes from Jane Tirc, intake coordinator and saint.

Manley was found wandering the street on Long Island on a rainy night in October 2009. A young couple stopped and picked him up, later bringing him to a kennel where they worked. The owner of the kennel was associated with another breed rescue and knew to contact Boston Terrier rescue when no owner could be found.

Manley was suffering from severe glaucoma and was blind. His right eye was very swollen and most likely very painful so needed to be removed.  He has long since recovered and despite his blindness is a very happy and much loved little man who will never again have to worry about being alone.

Manley, who has found his forever home with Jane Tirc, is being featured tomorrow at 7:30 pm on a radio show in Boston. Jane will be calling in and talking to him about Manley and the NEBTR. People who are listening might want to see pictures of Manley since they will be hearing his story.

And here is a link to a newspaper story about Manley. As the Amityville paper wrote, "Manley, a little blind Boston Terrier, was alone, wandering the streets on a rainy night. Imagine being scooped up by caring youths. Imagine then being delivered to the best of hands because of various breed rescues working together.

"Manley couldn’t see but luckily a series of strangers saw him. Jane in Kingston, a nurse and volunteer for the North East Boston Terrier Rescue (NEBTR), called to say that he looked like a Boston but it didn’t matter. She rarely fostered because her home is a one way door; yet his photos were so touching; she’d gladly take this guy."

Manley had advanced glaucoma, which was causing painful pressure in his eye. He was determined to be between 6 and 10 years old. The eye was removed and sutured shut.

Despite his lack of sight, Manley fit right in at Jane’s house, settling as soon as he realized his bed was next to hers. He blends with her Bostons- Buster and Marilyn, and already knew to spin around and sit for a treat when he comes in. He’s comfy and on some level senses he will never be put in harm’s way again.

He is now loved and safe in Jane's home. What a wonderful ending to the story!

Christmas Comes for Manley

Blow is a photo of "Manley". He  is the permanent foster of Jane Tirc. Manley recently had an eye removed and now, in time for the holiday,  has found an angel sponsor in Jade Wanner. This was a Christmas present from her Mother Debbie Wanner, who  is a member of our group. Thanks so much to Jane, Jade and Debbie!  What a wonderful gift to Manley!
