Update on Brain

Our former foster, Brain (fka Porter) is living a new adventure with his amazing Dad. They have relocated from NYC to his native hometown in Mexico!  

Brain now spends his days basking in the sunshine, being spoiled by Grandma and cuddling with his little cousins, whom are his new best friends. This handsome & lucky boy is so very loved!!

Happy Gotcha Day Brain

Happy First Gotcha Anniversary AND a very Happy 10th Birthday to my former foster, Brain (fka Porter).

He is living an amazing life with his Dad, Joseph, who says:  "It's been a spectacular year. I feel like Brain and I know each other for much longer.  He truly is the best, and we were a great match!"

Former Foster Brain - now Porter

Brain's Dad contacted me to let me know that Brain had a Stage 2 Mast Cell tumor removed. The tumor was in the rib/belly area and luckily was relatively small.

Brain is recovering nicely and being extra spoiled by his Dad, who will now be extra vigilant looking for lumps & bumps on his handsome boy!!!

Love that Brain boy!  I love him. Get well sweet boy!

Former Porter (now Brain) says Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from former NEBTR foster Porter, now named Brain. 

Brain is just having a fabulous time with his Dad, living it up in NYC. 

Look at how content his face is and how bright his eyes are! Truly a very happy boy!! (Two of them - his Dad is quite ecstatic as well!)

He re-named him after the cartoon Pinky & the Brain...( see below)

Update on Porter, Now Brain

 

I received a lovely update from Porter's adopted Dad! Porter is now known as Brain (as in Pinky & The Brain)!!!!

"Brain" is doing fantastic. No anxiety, no aggression, goes on play dates w other dogs and gets along really really well. He is even working on leaving him in the apartment UNCRATED!! This is an amazing accomplishment even I couldn't do! He had only one incident where he ate a hole in his carrier and ran amuck on the Ferry, but since he is a regular customer, he was scooped up immediately!! (Whew - small heart attack!). Dad has now decided to transport Brain to and from the ferry in a stroller. He said he feels slightly self conscious about it, but thinks Brain is happier & more secure.

I quote "Everyone that meets Brain loves him. He is perfectly chilled and awesome!"

Update on Porter

Porter is doing AWESOME. Porter is greatly enjoying life in the City. He goes right into his carrier for the ferry ride and he is running around the office all day.

His new Dad, especially as a first time pet owner, is doing such a great job. He loves Porter very much and is giving him tons of affection, but not letting him get away with any shenanigans. Porter has NOT had any anxiety!!! This is just amazing!!

Porter is Adopted

Porter had a very big day recently.  It was his 9th Birthday!! It is also his Meet & Greet with his potential Adopter.

What a Happy Birthday for Porter, he got a new Dad, Joseph Levinson!! He is off to live in NYC and take a ferry to work every day. He will be the new office Mascot. Everyone is so excited to meet him!

Porter immediately took to his new Owner and of course, it was love at first sight, as Porter is so very handsome.
Porter did a great job, demonstrating all his skills & tricks: he went into his Sherpa bag, crate, harness, and even went on a walk. No anxiety at all. Jumped right into the car, got in his crate and off they drove...
Despite the mischief this little guy caused us the last 2+ months...me, my partner & our daughter are sobbing our eyes out...

Porter Has a Beauty Day

 

So Porter & Lola went to the Groomer today. They got full body massages, shampoos, ears cleaned, teeth brushed and nails clipped. (Lola got a sparkly blue mani/pedi!)

Since Porter does not like the car, we decided to fake him out. (Deb Dolan will appreciate this!). Amanda & I took both dogs for a quick walk around the block. My partner started up the truck and left the back door open. As we approached the truck we just kept the momentum and all jumped in and Deanna took off. We totally tricked him!!

He was much less anxious this time and I think he was also taking his cues from Lola. She will now have to be his Ambassador and accompany him everywhere!!

Look at this handsome boy after his bath!! He is so relaxed, silky soft & smells like blueberry cotton candy!!

Porter had a super busy weekend. We had a big party here yesterday with lots of guests and tons of little kids. He did so great. Spent quality time sunning himself with his Foster Sister Lola and getting kisses and hugs from his human Foster Cousin Julia!!
He is turning into such a little gentleman!!!

More on Foster Porter

Porter

 

We have come pretty far in almost a month. Porter has not been very socialized and does not get along with other dogs. I've been working so hard with him and getting him to play nice with my Lola. Here is a video of some morning playtime AND a photo where they chose to lay next to one another in the sun today.
We are getting there...

So...my sister-in-law had an Origami Owl jewelry party at our home last night. We had a dozen ladies over and about just as many kids, ages 5 to 10!
Porter got a very nice brushing and some blueberry cologne in preparation for his big night. He greeted everyone at the door. He worked his way around the table and sat in almost everyone's lap. He sat and was petted and kissed by all the kids. There was no aggression or nervousness. When they started making too much noise, Porter simply went upstairs and either laid in Lola's bed or ours. He would come down and check in from time to time.
I am so proud of him!!!

Meet New Foster, Porter

Meet Porter! Porter has been with us now for a week and a half. He is making great strides. He suffers from anxiety and nervousness. He would tremble and drool just going outside in the backyard. This weekend he was actually hanging out on the new deck!!! He is fully house trained, crate trained and is really just a little snuggle bug. He has very quickly bonded with his foster parents and loves his one on one play time!!

 Porter is responding so well to just a bit of discipline with lots of positive reinforcement. He likes his treats, but loves when you tell him he is a good boy and give him love and rubs. He nuzzles against you, mewling and making little gremlin noises! He is really enjoying himself and coming out of his shell.

New Foster Porter

So Porter has finally arrived!!  He is absolutely adorable. He is a little 17lb brindle boy w a splash face and blue eyes. His coat has blue & cream & lilac!!  He's very handsome and very energetic and spry!

Porter is up to date on his shots, house broken, crate trained and knows basic commands. He has some separation anxiety and needs to be crated when alone.  He does not do well with children.  He is very loving but territorial of his owners and a bit jealous, so he'd be best as an only dog.  He's getting along very well with Lola, no aggression at all. They ran themselves ragged and are now passed out!

This gorgeous boy is going to be available very soon and make a great companion!!!  He is a little Velcro-man!
