I made my Dogs a sweet new bed from an old TV console. (Marjorie made the cushion!) It was a lot of fun and is pretty much the cutest thing ever!

How to Make a Belly Band

Senior dogs or those with incontinence problems can be greatly helped through belly bands.  These are cloth bands that go around the dog, and a feminine hygiene pad with sticky strips can be inserted inside for greater absorbency.  Pictured above is Erin Sullivan's foster Stan Lee modeling a belly band.

Fleece by the yard or fleece blankets make a good source of material.

Also, ready made bands can be purchased online through suppliers such as puppybellybands.com.

Make Your Own Dog Coats

 It's easy, inexpensive and very warm!  Maria Pastuszak came up with this brilliant idea for making your own dog coats.  She writes,

"Just what I do . . .I shop at SAVERS or GOODWILL STORES buy real quality thick coats in the baby department. I get 50% off coupons I am a regular so sometimes for $5 I have what would cost $40/$50. I use pinking shears the to cut the fabric, a quick stitch so it does not fray and done. Easy even for a non-sewer. Look above and see my dogs coats! Vests work great too! Zipper up to allow an opening for the leash! "

We not only have the best foster volunteer ever, but we have a lot of creativity as well. Check out the below message and pictures from our foster volunteer, Christine.

I made this out of a dog food bag with instructions off the internet. I got the idea from Cindy Cousins of SNORT.

My plan is to make one for each of my fosters. I can put all of their goodies in it when they pack up to leave for their forever homes.
