Happy Gotcha Day Scooby Doo

Let me see I have so much to be thankful for... when Scooby came into my life. I had lost my Boston Terrier named Bobby awhile back. He was my late husband's dog so when I lost him it was as though I had lost the last part of my husband that I had to hang onto. I wasn't even sure if I wanted another dog in my life and didn't for some time. But once you have owned Bostons you're addicted and I knew Bobby would have welcomed another dog.

I then decided to join NEBTR and if a dog was meant to be in my life again it would happen through fostering. Well little did I know the first dog that arrived at my home would be Scooby Doo. He had been abandoned out of a car and he looked at every car as though they were his owners returning for him;  that  broke my heart. Even though I never really thought about it.....................I was abandoned  also but by no fault of my husband's. The more Scooby stopped watching every car that passed expecting them to take him home I realized that Scooby just like me needed him as much as he needed me. Not that I didn't love him already but it became so clear that we were so much in need of each other.

The best day of my life has been since I adopted Scooby and he's such a huge part of my life now. He has attended every adoption event that I have been to and it's as though he knows what to do to make people feel happy when he gives his loving licks. He lays it on to the adults but seems to know that babies need more gentle kisses. But you know what the best thing of all is...........................that  Scooby Doo saves the best kisses of all for me !!!!! I LOVE YOU SCOOBY DOO!! thank you so much for coming into my life

Bonnie, what a great Happy Gotcha Day story!  You are both so lucky to have found each other.

Oh my....There is a large lump in my throat. Your story was heartfelt. I can only imagine your sorrow when your husband passed and then soon after your beloved Bobby.  There are no coincidences in life, I truly believe that things happen for a reason, although at the time we don't understand why bad things happen or great things happen to us.

Scooby Doo did come into your life - your world for many reasons. One of the greatest things that Scooby has done for you was to make you smile once again. You saw in him something that no one else cared to open their hearts to see. For Scooby his abandonment was so undeserving, as your husbands death was for you.

Enjoy those kisses from Scooby...you and he are a match made from heaven...Your husband lives on in Scooby and so does Bobby.

Happy gotcha day, Scooby Doo!!

Scooby Loves Soccer

They were playing volleyball and soccer in the yard. He decided volleyball wasn't for him they don't drop the ball often enough. NOW soccer that is another game they kick it back and forth he was ready for that he played dense very well I'll show them a thing or two about how the game is played!!! Scooby has turned out to be the best thing that ever came into my life. He loves every one and any dog.

Scooby is a great example to show perspective adopters just what can happen when they are willing to put into a dog they adopt they will get back three fold. Scooby arrived with separation anxiety crate fear and now he is the most outgoing dog who loves to be loved and give love in return.

Bonnie

I am sooo happy he is doing so well, he's quite the player.  Awesome!  Thank you Bonnie for everything you have given him!

Mandy, Scooby and Foster Max

I have never EVER seen Mandy (members dog) play with any toy at all in the 7 months that I have had her . I just knew it would be good for her to have foster dogs around. Max and Scooby constantly play with toys and so she decided this must be fun and for the first time today I caught her playing with a toy. I'm just so happy for her she was pretty badly abused and is still very shy of people but I think that may change over time.

Scooby is Adopted

Scooby came from a shelter in Camden, where he was found as a stray and cried all day in his shelter cage.  NEBTR picked him up and he was brought to Bonnie, his Foster mom.  Here is the rest of his story:

As all of you know I failed miserably with my first foster Scooby LOL I ended up adopting him and it's like a match made in heaven for both of us. As you know Scooby had problems with crating and separation anxiety. He no longer has either problem.I bought a much larger crate than needed and he goes in and out as he likes. I went in and out my door so many times I made myself dizzy trying to help him understand I was always coming back. He now has the option of being in the crate or out of the crate while I am away and he has not made one mistake in over week so I am very proud of my little guy. Yippee!!!

The Absolute Queen of My Home

Dogs drool and Birds rule or at least that's the way in my house. Amos has seen many of dogs in her 27 yrs of living in my house. I have had her since she was 3 days old I worked with an Avian vet. She was dropped off because the parents killed one of the babies and she didn't know how to hand feed babies. Long story short she never came back for the babies or paid her bills. The vet kept one and I kept Amos who is really Amosita -- didn't know she was a female until yrs later. Anyhow Amos has taught many dogs that she rules the roost and Scooby learned really fast!!!!!

Update on Scooby and Thank You Byron

I have really enjoyed having Scooby in my home. He has a couple of problems; he has a bad case of separation anxiety and being crated. I cannot even go out the door that he isn't scratching at the door the minute I leave. He really hates being crated and cries and shakes the whole time he's in the crate.  But we are working on it!!

He absolutely is a great dog other wise he loves sleeping with me and he is constantly by my side on the couch. He follows me everywhere when I get up because he is afraid I will leave I guess. He loves going for rides in the car is playing with stuffed animals now even when I toss them in the yard he will bring them right back to me. LOVES going for his walks twice a day even sometimes 3 times a day. I am going to a friends this afternoon to test him with his cat and I will test him with children.

He is very very happy because he received a big package from Byron Graham. He got so many presents and even shared them with his sister Mandy. Thank you Byron, for being so generous to our Scooby.

Scooby and sister Mandy

New Foster Scooby took his first walk with his sister today and on a double lead. They had lots of fun and even shared a treat from the same basket when they got home. I think Scooby is rather fond of his pretty sister Mandy. Scooby says, Mandy is very mellow and maybe some of that will rub off on me because I get nervous when foster mom leaves the house. But me and foster mom are working on it!

Scooby does the Boston Boogie

I don't normally ever work Mondays but helped a friend who had to go out of town really early. So went over to get the boys up and off to the school bus. I was only gone for a couple of hours but when I came home Scooby did the Boston Boogie to greet me. He hadn't done that until today so made me feel good to see him shake his little booty. He seems to be feeling a little better today and is breathing through his nose again.. Is eating his dog food so hoping he is back to normal soon.

Note - the picture below is not one with Scooby doing the Boogie - we just wanted to show you how terribly cute this boy is....

Scooby is Settling In

He was nervous as to be expected with yet another new home. He snuggled under the blanket on the couch with me while I watched tv. He had no accidents last night but cried when I went to bed. I took his bed in my bedroom and he was content but a little later he was on my bed sneaking under the covers with me!!! So we both got a good nights sleep He is still sneezing but I want to wait a little while to see if the meds do their job. I liked the name Scooby so Scooby it is!!!  Thanks to Chris and family for suggesting it!

He's Safe!

Thanks to the efforts of the group and our Facebook fans, this boy is now SAFE!  The Shelter estimated him to be about 7, neutered. He was a stray whose owner never came forward. They say he is friendly but he cried in his cage all day. How heartbreaking! Special thanks to Stacie Kyle for going to get him!!!

Thanks to Sara McLaughlin, this boy will be transported today to his foster Mom Bonnie Towner.  Bonnie, thank you so much for opening up your heart and home to this boy in desperate need! Bonnie writes, "I am so happy to be helping with fostering."

Now he needs a name. Any suggestions for Bonnie?

Stacie reports this morning, "Our boy is resting comfortably before his big trip today, he really is a good doggy. His eating is fine, his stool is fine, but he has a cold that's a bit worse than just sneezing. Sending him to Bonnie with bed, blanket, collar and leash and why this perfect gentlemen ended up in a shelter blows me away. He slept later than I this morning. He will make anyone a great companion."
