Happy First Gotcha Day Coco

It's pawty time!! It's been one year since Coco was rescued by NEBTR. Coco was my first foster and I knew she was meant to be.

She's been such a blessing and brought so much happiness to our lives. Today she celebrates with her foster brother Mosby!

New Foster Penny

Yesterday, I picked up a special little boston terrier. The poor girl was left tied to a porch of a fellow dog rescuer in Tobyhanna, PA. I don't know the situation and why they just left her, but she's in great hands now :)

I've tried many different names to get her attention, but she doesn't seem to respond any. So we'll be calling her Penny - since she's lucky and only has one eye.

She's been very friendly with me, my boyfriend and house guests. Gets excited when people give her attention. She loves getting her bum scratched and shakes her legs in excitement! But she also can relax and chill in her crate. So far she's been good with kids (the lady who recieved her had a 2 year old). She gets along fine with other dogs as well. 

Penny is going to make someone a great companion she is super friendly and just wants love. I'm excited to help her find her forever home.

Coco - Feel Better Soon!

I picked up Coco from her spay on Friday night. It was one of the hardest things to watch :(  My poor girl couldn't stop shaking, could barely stand, and definitely couldn't walk. I felt so bad for her. All she wanted to do was lay and snuggle next to me.
After the night passed she was starting to get some of her strength back. Was able to drink, eat, and even go potty when carried outside! Thank God, because I was really worried!

Now Coco is about 70% back to normal and keeps looking at herself wondering what on earth is on her neck! Wishing for a healthy recovery for Coco!

Sounds like anesthesia took her for a real loop!
So glad with TLC she is bouncing back!

Coco Learns to Sit

Today was a break through!  I finally showed my foster Mama today that I do know how to sit!! We've been working on this for a while now and I know she's super proud of me! What command is up next?!

Coco Goes to the Vet

Coco went to the vet Thursday and had a very good check-up by Dr. Ferrari at Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Ferrari has two Bostons of his own so I was very happy to have him look at her. She was very alert and aggressive towards the other dogs in the waiting room, but nothing uncontrollable. Hopefully, we'll get to work on that!

He gave her a wellness checkup and came back with a clean bill of health! Coco is currently 15.6lbs and Dr. Ferrari said she is at a good weight. She has no eye, ear, hip, knee or teeth issues. She does not have a fever - which is a good sign for her kennel cough. Her kennel cough is still mild and mainly aggravated when going outside. We just finished the antibiotics from Brooklyn ACC so hopefully her symptoms will subside.

However Dr. Ferrari did notice 2 nodules in her mammary glands, which he recommend getting removed. Has anyone else experienced this with their BTs? He'll be giving me a quote for her spay and removal of the nodules on Monday.

New Foster Coco

On Thursday evening NEBTR rescued Coco from the Brooklyn ACC! She's a small (16lbs) brownie BT. Coco was surrendered due to a non-serious bite on their toddler and aggression towards other dogs.  She is a beautiful mama, must have had a couple of liters, and was clearly neglected by her owners.  She has a slight case of kennel cough which I am treating her with antibiotics. Coco is very alert and cautious. She is such sweet loving girl, never wants to leave my side, and has anxiety when I do leave.

I'm working on getting her to a healthy weight, treating her kennel cough, and having her learn to trust me. I'm currently fostering her in Allentown, PA.  Thank you to everyone and their help with Coco - it's truly an amazing experience working with NEBTR! 

Most importantly Coco is safe and in a loving environment!! Here's some pics of Coco, enjoy! :-)
