Daisy Mae Goes to the Rainbow Bridge

Hi everyone,

It is with great sadness to report that our sweet Miss Daisy Mae crossed the rainbow bridge last night.  She truly did steal my heart as well as my husbands.  She became lethargic last night so my husband and I rushed her to the emergency vet where they had noticed a large mass tumor located off of her kidney causing internal bleeding. She wasn't responding to us and couldn't walk or keep her head up so we knew, along with the recommendation of the vet at that point it would only be selfish to keep her alive.  We let her pass in my arms as we told her we loved her and we hoped that we gave her one last year of life that she could never forget.  We are truly going to miss out spunky senior.  We know she stole our heart along with many others.

Thank you,
Courtney & Joe Kautz
Foster parents to Winston and Daisy Mae

I attached my favorite photo of her from her 13th birthday this year ♡
So sorry to hear this news.  :(  She was a lucky girl, to have the two of you by her side.

Oh Courtney I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Daisy Mae.  I loved seeing and hearing about what she and Winston were getting up to.  Thank you for giving her a loving home to feel safe for the time she had with you.  RIP sweet girl.

Update on Daisy May

I got a chance to visit with Daisy May and her new family last weekend.  Her Mama had surgery recently and was in rehab.  I was afraid the Miss Daisy might have reverted or had a problem because she was gone for several weeks.  But she was such a good girl.  She has filled out and looks great and as you can see loves her Mama. The last picture is how she greeted me.  She obviously remembered me and covered me with kisses.  I love happy endings.  Joan Stark Ontario NY

Update on Daisy May

Well, it is just under a month since Daisy May went to her forever home. I was afraid she would have some difficulties as she came back to me after 10 days due to her new Mama's needing to go out of town for a family emergency and she didn't want to leave her with strangers. She came in here and settled in like she had never left. When I took her back after four days, she went right up to her new papa, trying to give kisses and ran all through the house to check on "her" things.

When I called to check on things, the first thing Mary said to me was "No, you can't have her back!!" Mary and Roger have another little rescue dog, a long haired chihuahua who is very skittish and runs and hides if anyone comes to the house. She and Daisy May are now fast friends and they sleep together in the same crate. They have a bed and the crate door is open but they prefer to nap in there. Mary tells me that
Daisy May even had Bella (the little one) playing which she has not done in all the time they have had her! I think Daisy May has hit the doggie lotto. She found a great home and is very happy. Housebreaking is almost 100% now and she minds well and snuggles up with them every night. A totally win win situation. Joan Stark

Daisy May Goes to Her Forever Home

Daisy May went to her forever home today. She was all dressed up in her fancy coat and "bling" collar with her signature Daisy on it. I won both at our recent fundraiser and since my gang already have so much "stuff" and it fit Daisy May perfectly, it became hers. She came to me with nothing but went to her new home with two collars, a harness, a leash (all sporting daisies), a coat, fleece blanket, toys, her favorite chewy, and anything else I thought she could use. After all, brides used to come with doweries and I did not want my little girl to go empty handed.

Her new Mama, Mary Miller, was so happy to see her and Daisy went right up to her and gave her a kiss. Her new Papa comes home from rehab tomorrow, but Daisy May is going to visit him there this afternoon. Today is Daisy May's new Mama's birth day and she said that this little dog was the best birthday present ever. Since this is the first foster that I have placed, I had to hurry out when the paperwork was done while Mary had her in the other room because the tears were flowing. Daisy May has come such a long way in such a short time and she is such a sweetheart. I would have kept her if I didn't have a full house already. I am attaching pictures - first one is how she looked when she was picked up by Molly at the vet who saved her. The others are from today. I am also going to upload more pictures to the group page of her in her little pumpkin costume and her fancy coat. I can appreciate even more all that the foster parents do for our pups. But it sure is worth it.

Daisy May is Adopted

Some good news to share - My little foster dog, Daisy May has found a forever home. She has been adopted and will be going home to her new family the end of September. She has come such a long way from the skinny frightened little dog who came to stay with us. I am so happy for her and glad she is being adopted locally so that I may see her from time to time.

Daisy May is very petite and weighs about 13 pounds. She was pretty skinny when I picked her up and I have been feeding her well. She has gained almost two pounds since I got her but needs to put on a bit more weight. She is very loving and quite a cuddler. She will make someone a great companion. When she arrived, she did not know how to play and had to figure out what grass is for. She is very smart, already having learned which is her food dish and where to sit and wait to be fed, what it means when Mom shakes the treat can. I bought her a new collar and harness with daisies on them as fits her name.

She will be a wonderful addition to her new home!

New Foster Daisy May

Daisy May is a shy little thing. She is a country girl from a very rural puppymill. She isn't house broken but is very comfortable with people and is great with my dogs. She is busy exploring the house and now is curled up on a pillow just watching things. Will post other pics and an update in a couple of days. She is adorable, six years old, petite and very pretty.
