In Memory of Maxy Moo

This week we lost our beloved Maxy. I am having trouble finding the words to describe how much I loved this boy. Maxy was a fragile soul whose desire to be loved was revealed in his eyes every day. It has been my great honor to care for him and to share him with the world. I truly think he knew he was loved by each and every one of you. It is what kept him going for so long. Thank you all for loving him

16 years on Earth, 2 years in my home, forever in my heart

Jerrilyn, Maxy's Foster Mom

Beautiful tribute Jerrilyn, one of my favorite songs, one of my favorite dogs. This is heart wrenching. I forgot what Maxy looked like when he first came in, and it is clear to see the spark you put back into his eyes. My God, he just looked like he wanted to go, but he found you and your family and decided there was more time he had left to live In your loving arms. I know he is truly grateful to you Jerrilyn, for giving him the best last years of his life. Be assured he is looking down from heaven with much love for you and your family. Thank you making an old dog love again. - Stacie

There are no words that could adequately express my sadness.
The tears are streaming down my face. Thank you for  sharing
him with us. You gave him the very best years of his life. God
knew what he was doing, when he chose you to be his angel.
OOhugs,
Maria

Oh, Jerrilyn, my heart is crying for you and with you.  I had come to love maxy Mooo as so many of us did.  He came such a long way with your love and care for him.  There is something about these special ones that steal our hearts. He knew so much love withyou and he is now running free at the Bridge.  Go play with the angels Maxy.    - Joan

Maxy - Looking Better!

Some pics attached…as you can see, he still has a long way to go but he
is on the right path. His spirits are good and his skin is clearing up
and preparing for hair regrowth I think.
He enjoys daily coconut rubs, 3-4 meals per day and lots of rest.
His left paw is still very swollen and red but it does not seem to
bother him.
He has such a handsome face : )
Tomorrow will be two weeks that I have had him.

He looks like a much happier dog!  It seems like 2 weeks of you did him wonders for him.
Nice work!

Maxy (Moo) Update and Video

I am so pleased with Maxy's progress. He is responding well to everything!
The antibiotics have cleared up his skin and ear infections and the coconut oil is soothing his skin and preparing it for the regrowth of hair.
His skin is now pink and warm. Just 2 weeks ago it was bright red, cracked, sore and ice cold.
His tongue doesn't hang out AS much as before and he is able to eat and chew food just fine.
I see a sparkle in his eye and his ears are in the normal position instead of way back. For the first week, his ears were flat against his head and he looked terrified constantly.
He still has a tendency to whine but much less and he can be soothed quickly.
I am now using the DAP collar and rescue remedy at night - thanks to Cynthia Kaiser!
I have cut his pain meds to just one half a tramadol at bedtime. None during the day.
I will also be steeping chamomile tea and adding to his water as a daytime relaxer.
He still wants to hump Chester but he knows he shouldn't and tries not to.
I am hopeful the neutering will help a lot!
Maxy Moo wants to live!

He does want to live. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him and showing him love and tenderness. Bless you, Kevin, Chester, Vivi and Flo. The after pictures will be extra ordinary.
What tender loving care, a warm home a soft touch and good food can do for the soul!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrIWtcJj_ZU

Update on Maxy

Hi NEBTR!

I instantly fell in love with Maxy when I saw his pictures online… I could not resist the floppy ears and puppy-like face!  Now, it has been almost a year since we traveled from Elizabethtown, PA to Watertown, NY to meet and adpot NEBTR boy Maxy.  He curled up on my lap on the way home and has been a "ladies man" ever since.  Our three year old female boston, Bailey, and Maxy became siblings fairly quickly.  Though definitely an alpha dog, Maxy is simply the sweetest boy.  He snuggles under the covers every night, and yes, is spoiled.  He literally runs to the bedroom at night when he senses that it is bedtime.  His face is so expressive and he makes us laugh!  He has gained ~5 pounds of muscle since we walk 2-3 miles four to five times a week.  He is a solid dog!  He knows the sound of his halter and leash and his excitement level about walks is over the top.  He also loves trips in the car.  In the summer we all spend weekends at our cabin on 23 acres of wooded land.  He loves the opportunity to run.  Our vacation last year was a trip to the Finger Lakes and we learned how much Maxy loves the water.  After I got his vest on he surprised me by jumping right in and swimming away.  Maxy has been a fantastic addition to our family, and we adore him.   I've attached a few pictures from the past year.  Thank you NEBTR!

Thanks to Jody Yorty for this great photo of her boy, Maxy!

Jersey Boy Maxy

Maxy went to his forever home with a wonderful couple in New Jersey: Jody Yorty reports that they were so excited to adopt him, they drove all the way to Syracuse on Friday night for the big event on Saturday morning. He came into foster care recently because his energy and his previous owner's energy didn't quite mesh. With the help of our foster support team he has found the most perfect place! He will be spending his weekdays in NJ and his weekends at a cabin in the woods of PA. What a life! Also Maxy now has a new Boston Terrier sister, Bailey, who is the same age. Congrats to Maxy and his new family!  And special congratulations to Foster Mom Jackie Foster who did such a fabulous job with this boy!

Maxy was Jackie's second foster, and she reports that he was a total joy to have.  She adds that Maxy will make his new family very happy.  She sends special thanks to everyone who made this possible, especially Jane, Joy, Debbi, Elly, Ellen,  Ginny, and Beth. "Glad to be a part of NEBTR," says Jackie.

New Foster Maxy

Maxy is settling in nicely in his foster home. He is getting along with their other BT and their cat. His foster Mom says that he was well taken care of and is up to date on all his shots. He has medium energy and responds well to correction. He is still a pup - not yet 3 years old! He is still a bit timid from the move but is a handsome boy and a total sweetheart! Please fill out an application on our website. Maxy will be ready for adoption soon!
