Chibby Goes to the Rainbow Bridge

Unfortunately, we had to put Chibby down a few weeks ago. He had contracted Lyme's disease last year (and was treated accordingly), but this year, his poor kidneys failed him. It was a very emotional day for all of us.

Regretfully, Tom McCarty and Family

Chibby was rescued from the NYACC in 2012 by NEBTR. Tom and his family showed him the love that he had never received before. Our sympathy to him and his family, and thank you for loving our Chibby.

Chibby is Adopted

Hi Everyone.  Chibby was adopted today.  The McCarty family of  Elkton, Maryland came to visit Chibby.  It was love at first sight and the rest is history.

Thank you Robin for all your help.

Attached is a picture of the McCarty's and Sweet Chibby.  We will miss him terribly.

-- Laurie Williamson

Chibby came to us in early August when his owners surrendered him to a shelter.  He was not neutered as planned at the shelter because he had kennel cough and also because of the perianal hernia on his rectal area. Laurie took him to U Penn and they did the repair surgery, along with a neuter.  Poor Chibby had all that to recover from and Laurie nursed him back to health and has now placed him, with our Placement Team's help, with a lovely family who now has a great Boston.

Congratulations Laurie and thank you for your incredible care.

A huge thank you to all who do our fundraising to make these kinds of surgeries possible.

Congrats on a successful placement!  It is so rewarding to see these wonderful dogs get a forever family. Thank you for all you did for Chibby.

Update on Chip In Dog Chibby

Foster Mom Laurie Williamson reports that Chibby has been doing great since his surgery, and Chibby wants to send special "thank yous" to those who made his surgery possible.

He writes,  "My foster mom took me to University of Pennsylvania Vet Hospital.  They did a great job of neutering me and repairing my hernia.  I feel so much better.  I’m happy and playful.  I love to play tug o war and fetch with my people.  I like being near my people and sometimes I’ll even sit on your lap and curl up.  I love my bed though that my foster mom gave me.  I would love to be the center of your world.  I like my foster brothers and sisters but I like people most.  I have gained 6 pounds and look like a new handsome guy.  My dog brothers and sisters are teaching me about proper bathroom etiquette.  I am so docile.  I love to be held and kissed.  I would make the best pet ever."

We hope that Chibby will find his forever home soon!

Chibby

Chibby was surrendered by his former family to the New York City Animal Control Shelter.  He came with a lemon sized growth on his anus, which had not been treated.  Fortunately, his luck changed when he was rescued by NEBTR and his foster mom Laurie Williamson.  Laurie writes:

Hi everyone,

My foster child Chibby had his surgery today at the University of Pennsylvania Vet Hospital.  He came to me with a terrible perianal hernia, unneutered and a case of pneumonia.  Dr. Holt called me this afternoon to tell me that the surgery was a success.  He was able to neuter him, repair the hernia and start him on treatment for the pneumonia.  He was impressed at what an awful hernia he had and felt certain that, if not repaired, would have had dire consequences.  U Penn is my A number 1 hospital and am so blessed that they are so close by.  I'll send pictures once I get him home to update everyone.  He will certainly look like a whole new guy and I bet feel 100% better.   He is my dear sweet man and I can't wait to see him tomorrow.  I just love him.
