Manny/Littleman Finds His Foster Home

Manny, now Littleman, was turned into the Clifton, NJ Animal Shelter, who contacted NEBTR to care for this 1 year old youngster.  Foster Mon Carolyn McCarthy lovingly cared for him for many months until she could find the perfect forever home for him.  She trained him, and sought medical care and made homecooked meals for his irritable bowel syndrome. while at Carolyn's, Littleman's best friend was Cesar, the emaciated dog that Carolyn also cared for. Cesar was adopted by Laura Ratsavong in Brooklyn, and has the perfect forever ending.

Finally, Dr. Steve Fries entered the picture. Dr. Steve is an animal chiropractor who has two other dogs of his own, Roo and Ted. Steve says, "My new little guy, formerly Manny, is now Littleman.....he seems to enjoy hearing his new name. Hard to believe a week elapsed. Roo really likes him, but doesn't seem to want to play chase. He is obsessed with toys, bones and antlers and is very attached to me already. Knock on wood.....no outbreaks of diarrhea (he has a diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome), and is tolerating the slow addition of raw diet to his food. He jumped on my kayak several times...hopefully in the warmer months Littleman will enjoy going for a paddle with me. He is an expert at snuggling and joins me the instant I sit or lie on the bed to watch TV. On our walk around the neighborhood this morning the creek on which I live was at low tide. The marsh must have smelled heavenly to Littleman....he just stood and inhaled for a full 5 minutes." Sounds like the ideal home for an active BT!

Photograph Your Foster

Special thanks to Chelle Panzica, who has offered to take photos of fosters to help them find their forever homes.  Chelle recently visited Carolyn McCarthy at Kamp Kanine, and photographed fosters Manny, Dakota and Beans - and Carolyn's own Frenchie pup Godric.

Check out Chelle's Flickr album to view the whole set here.  Manny in the red collar, Dakota in the Blue collar and Beans in the green collar.  And if you have a foster you would like to feature, or a former foster who is now a cherished member of your family,  Chelle has offered to photograph your pup too.  Contact her at chellehrtsnapo@me.com

Manny Gets Adopted

Manny found his forever home, in South Jersey to an animal Chiropractor. Here is what his forever Dad says about Manny. Manny joins two other pups in the family, Roo and Ted. Another success story for one of our very deserving babies!! "I drove up to North Jersey to see Manny. Ted was more impressed with the people and the nice dog play area inside the building (daycare for dogs). Manny was very sweet and I got to bring him home. Roo was glad to see another active boy in the house again, but put him in his place if he got "rude" with her. I think it's going to work out fine. Plan on being home with the pack all day long tomorrow (day off) so perhaps it will give me a chance to figure out my new camera and uploading all the photos I took tonight. Manny is warming up to me and trying to make friends with Roo. Ted is just exhausted and wants to rest. Thanks for all the well-wishes! NEBTR is great! Manny came home with a lot of "gifts" from his foster mom, Carolyn."

What Your Support Achieved

A while back, we posted a request for urgent donations to help with the medical bills and care of the many, many Bostons who have recently been in jeopardy. One of the most horrendous cases was poor Cesar, who looked like this when he found his way to animal control in September. He looked like this:

You all responded amazingly to his plight, and donated a record amount, enough to provide care for him. He was taken under the wing of foster mom Carolyn McCarthy, who continued to nurture him.

And this is Cesar today!

Here he is playing with his foster siblings Manny and Minnie:

More good news for Cesar - he has been adopted by Laura Ratsavong and Kenneth Young and now lives in Brooklyn.

Way to go Cesar! And thank you again to everyone who helped heal this boy so that he can have a forever home with a family who loves him. That is what rescue is all about!
