Wilbur in His New Home

Wilbur has been in his home for over a month now and is doing good!  I talked with his Dad and he just loves Wilbur!  He goes for rides in the car every chance he gets and has a new pit bull pooch friend.  Kelly can't wait for warmer weather so they can go out on longer walks and have fun outside!
I'm so happy for the little man!

Kelly wanted to thank NEBTR for the good work we do and the transporters that helped get Wilbur home!

Wilbur is Adopted

Well it looks like the grumpy old man found himself a home!  He was adopted last weekend and had a long transport from Pittsburgh PA to Scotia NY.  Thanks to everyone that helped!  He is doing good and getting to sleep in bed with his Dad.  I miss the little guy like crazy, it was over 8 months I fostered him.  Picture is from our drive, he was looking at me with that face making it even more difficult to say goodbye.  I wish him all the best!

Senior Dog Poem

One by One, they pass by my cage, Too old, too worn, too broken, no way. Way past his time, he can't run and play. Then they shake their heads slowly and go on their way.

A little old man, arthritic and sore, It seems I am not wanted anymore. I once had a home, I once had a bed, A place that was warm, and where I was fed.

Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail. Who wants a dog so old and so frail?  My family decided I didn’t belong, I got in the way, my attitude was wrong.

Whatever excuse they made in their head, can’t justify how they left me for dead.  Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, the younger dogs get adopted and driven away.

When I had almost come to the end of my rope, you saw my face, and I finally had hope.  You saw thru the grey, and the legs bent with age, and I felt like I still had life beyond this cage.

You took me home, gave me food and a bed, and shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.  We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, You love me so dearly and you want me to know.

I may have lived most of my life with another, But you outshine them with a love so much stronger.  And I promise to return all the love I can give, To you, my dear person, as long as I live.

I may be with you for a week, or for years, we will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears.  And when the time comes God deems I must leave, I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve.

And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, My thoughts and my heart will still be with you.  And I will brag to all that will hear, Of the person who made my last days so dear.so frail? My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way, my attitude was wrong.

Whatever excuse they made in their head, Can't justify how they left me for dead. Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, The younger dogs get adopted and driven away.

When I had almost come to the end of my rope, You saw my face, and I finally had hope. You saw thru the grey, and the legs bent with age, And felt I still had life beyond this cage.

You took me home, gave me food and a bed, And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head. We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, You love me so dearly, you want me to know.

I may have lived most of my life with another, But you outshine them with a love so much stronger. And I promise to return all the love I can give, To you, my dear person, as long as I live.

I may be with you for a week, or for years, We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears. And when the time comes that God deems I must leave, I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve.

And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, My thoughts and my heart will still be with you. And I will brag to all who will hear, Of the person who made my last days so dear.

I thought this was touching.  Makes me think of Wilbur and tear up!

Wilbur Loves Riding in the Car

This dog just loves the car!!  I snapped this pic when I was cleaning out my car and he had to get in and wouldn't budge.  So he sat there while I vacuumed and wiped down!

Wilbur Gets a Wheelchair

Wilbur just got a wheelchair!!  It's from www.dogcartsplus.com, check them out! Marc custom makes them from measurements. I attached 2 pics. We are trying to get Wilbur used to it so no pics of him on it yet.
Dogcartsplus makes them to the the needs of the dog by size and measurements. Marc is such a great guy just wanting to help the dogs.He offered NEBTR a wonderful discount.

And special thanks to Byron Graham of A1 Plumbing who purchased the cart for Wilbur.  Byron is always there for our dogs and we would like to give him a special salute!
