Cleo Goes to the Rainbow Bridge

Sweet Cleo went to the rainbow bridge this week.  She passed in the arms of her family who had only 8 short months with her but I am positive those were the best 8 months of her life.  I can't thank them enough for that.

Cleo was my first foster with NEBTR.  It was my first experience with how amazing this group of people are.  It literally took a village to get her to me.  From getting pulled from the shelter by Joy to all the wonderful transporters that helped her get across the state to me.

She was a spunky 11 year old gal when I got her.  She kept me on my toes and taught me how to "cleo-proof" the house because she got into everything!   She then gave me a crash course in eye ulcers almost immediately.  She always looked like she had a smile on her face.

Sweet Cleo will be missed by everyone who crossed her path.  Thank you so much to NEBTR for pulling her from the shelter so quickly and giving her a second chance.

I am SO sad to hear this.  What a fun little monkey.  I was lucky enough to have her for 5 days before the 100 person transport.  She was such a special lady--and I'd bet the ranch that she was the puppy-from-hell!!  She had the best for the last years of her life.   Her original owner gave her up because she was going into hospice.   She gave Cleo to the shelter because they are no-kill and have a strong relationship with us.  She wanted to make sure Cleo had a chance at another home even at her age.
I have no doubt she's climbing all over her original Mom and wagging that tail like crazy.
Thank you all so much for pitching in to give this goofy little girl a wonderful life after she was very reluctantly given up.

Sad News on Former Foster Cleo

I was just given the sad news that my first foster Cleo has been diagnosed with Cancer. She has a tumor on her spine. She cannot walk or stand without pain. The family is opting to keep her as comfortable as possible with steroids and pain meds instead of chemo.
Cleo was my first venture into fostering. She was 11 when she came to me and so spunky! She got into everything! She developed some eye issues and had cataracts but she didn't let that stop her or even slow her down. She always looked as if she was smiling and didn't have a care in the world. She will turn 13 in October.
My heart is breaking for her and the wonderful family that gave her a loving and comfortable home despite her age.

How very very sad for Cleo she should have lived much longer but she had you and then a family that loved her. Thank you so much for giving her the best.

Update on Cleo in Her Forever Home

I got an email from Cleo's mom today with some new pics. I love this purple cowboy hat, lol!
Cleo is now off of all 3 eye drops that she needed for her corneal ulcer and has even had a good teeth cleaning. She looks very good! I can't thank this family enough for choosing to adopt her! She was just shy of 12 years old when she came here. Partially blind and partially deaf and VERY curious. I really thought I would have a hard time placing her but, thankfully, this family proved me wrong!

Update on Cleo

I got some more pics from Cleo's new family today. She is doing very well. I just love the smile she always seems to have!  The Sharps are a wonderful family and Cleo's inner diva can really shine there and they love her.

Cleo needed to find a new home when her original owner went into a hospice that didn't allow dogs..   We can only imagine how hard that must have been for her.  What a gift Kristi and her original owner have given her, a new life with a wonderful family.  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for giving this precious little lady another chance.

Cleo and Buddy open Christmas presents

I put a few of Buddy & Cleo's secret Santa gifts away for them to open this morning.
Here is Buddy in his new striped sweater and him playing with his new squeaky alligator. He just loves the squeaky toys!
Cleo loved the stocking that she got. In it was a box of milk bones, a squeaky cupcake (I think she thought it was real, lol), a ball and a chew stick.

Cleo is Getting Adopted!

Cleo will be going to meet her new family on December 30th. I so excited for her!! The Sharps will be a great family for her. I'm so happy that they chose her! Cleo will have two younger Boston Terrier brothers and a fenced in yard. My daughter and I will be taking a road trip to Harrisburg to meet them on the 30th and if all goes well, they plan on taking her home with them and they can all start the new year together.

Cleo's Early Christmas Present

Cleo got a surprise early Christmas gift. A very nice person sent her some Whimzee's from her wish list. She just loves them and feels really special when she gets surprises.
The kindness from strangers never ceases to amaze me and little things like this just warm my heart :-)

Cleo the Sleepyhead

After she ate and went outside this morning Cleo shuffled her bed and blankets right onto the heat vent and went back to bed.
Typically she follows me around the house while I eat my breakfast and do my chores. I guess she just wasn't ready to start the day yet. I can't say I blame her and I was a little jealous :-)

I think we are all jealous….
