Sport and Foster Failure Grimm, formerly Tigger, Go Traveling

Spot has finished all his meds now, and he's getting along great with my other NEBTR male, with all my dogs actually.  I don't think he's phased at all by his missing eye, and at least now he has no discomfort.  He enjoyed visiting the mini-golf area of the resort and a ski-lift ride, which left us off for a mountain-top hike on the trails at the top.  (We had death-hold grips on our boys, they seemed to love it!)
They were both easy to travel with.  We took the boys because they're more of a handful for my mother, who spent the weekend with my easy females & Wrigley.

Grimm Graduates With Top Honors

Who would have thought last December 23, 2013, when Tigger came to us having peed on both his transporters and in their cars from a neglectful situation in Brooklyn, that he would win the blue 1st Place ribbon at his Obedience I graduation just 6 months later!  The only way to describe this young boy when he arrived was "Tasmanian Devil," a la Bugs Bunny...  He had no training, discipline, or knowledge, but was looking for leadership and love, for sure.

He's come a long way, baby.  He still needs more work reacting to visitors and strangers (particularly males), but we're proud of him today!!  He's looking surprised and happy with his trainer Pete at Kindred Souls Canine Center.

Congratulations to Grimm, formerly foster Tigger and his family on this achievement!

Denice's Transformations

It has been less than 6 months now since NEBTR entrusted me with my first foster dog Tigger, 2 days before Christmas.  When I just updated Puka's addendum, I almost missed how amazingly these dogs transformed in such a short time.  See if you can tell the before and after pictures!

"Spook" Puka was picked up from Jersey City on May 3rd dirty, frail, timid and wobbly.  I remember writing to the group because on day 2 she still would not eat, leave her bed, play, or walk much.  Her posture was weak and her back legs curved under and seemed almost wasting from disuse.  She didn't know how to play with toys or interact with my other dogs.  Now, she has filled out and runs with leaps and bounds through the back yard, and runs to the toy bin to grab a toy even before she goes out in the morning.  You would never believe this vibrant happy girl was ever such a poor sad soul only 1 month ago!  I can't believe she may be going to a furever home in Pittsburgh next week already!

Wrigley came on March 9th, so skinny his head looked huge, dirty, and sad from a home in Queens.  He was the sweetest boy ever, even from the drive home, but unneutered, and all he thought about was humping.  He is now the happiest, goofiest, playful little instigator who has filled out beautifully, and is the joy of my mother's life right now.  I bring him over for play dates whenever I can just because he's such a fun boy to have around.

Tigger came from Brooklyn on December 23rd uncivilized and lifting his leg everywhere-even on his transporters and in the car.  He was a young Tasmanian Devil type nut-job, but a diamond in the rough.  We couldn't let him go-adoption came soon after his first visit to a potential adoption family...  Now, he is guiding and helping my new fosters, and doing an obedient sit-stay in the middle of a crew of distracting fellow Bostons.  He is a Love!!!!

I am soooo happy to have been able to play even a little part in improving the lives of these poor, lost souls. This is a great and very rewarding volunteer and rescue program to be a part of, and I never knew how rewarding it was to provide such a simple act of charity in dog rescue.

Denice; I told you before and I’ll say it again, you are awesome. These dogs are not turning themselves around, they need love, care and much needed attention. Not one but 3 in 6 months is terrific and the foster moms in this group that do that year over year will tell you its not easy. So to you and to all the foster moms in this group, Rock On!!

Tigger Has a Forever Home

Congratulations to Tigger, who has found his forever home with his foster Mom, Denice Schnaak.  He had bonded strongly with the family and with his foster siblings, so Denice felt is was best for him to keep her in the home he already loved - and where he was loved as well.

Thanks to Jeremy Laura from Tigger for the Gifts

Tigger and I want to thank Jeremy Laura for his awesome Coolaroo platform bed, for his doggie bed, blankie & toys.  It is something I highly recommend, as my dogs seem to love the feeling of being elevated on their beds off the floor (especially my big old lab girl).  All my Bostons (and Daisy Dog-pictured) had to come check it out as soon as it was put together.  We are very grateful.  Denice, Jackson, NJ

Tigger loves to Play

What a cutie! Tigger loves either play fighting or napping, he has bonded strongly with my other 3 dogs.  I think he would thrive in a "pack" of dogs!! He is so social...

Foster Tigger Had a Busy Snowy Day

He is the young, handsome brindle guy with the blue harness under his foster sisters, my Dolly & Lola.  He is neutered and has a clean bill of health and is being a great boy now about 1 month in.  When he finds his forever home, we'll all miss him terribly!  He's a lover!  He loves cats as much as his doggie siblings.

Tigger and Pals

Tigger (centered) is recovering well from his neutering 2 days ago, and his foster-sisters are loving the "new boy" in the family....  Less humping-woo hoo!!!  Denice, Jackson, NJ

It doesn't get any better than that! Lucky he has his foster and fur family!

New foster Tigger says Happy New Year!

Tigger was thrilled to receive Secret Santa packages with goodies, and thinks his foster sisters (Dolly pictured on couch) are beautiful.  He is out around our house in our arms or on a leash-he is an exuberant, energetic, crazy happy mess!  His manners are improving daily, and he is a true love bug!  Tigger loves to dish out the kisses.  He is looking forward to a Happy New Year in all ways, and maybe even a furever home!  Wishing all of you wonderful folks & pups a Happy & Healthy New Year!!!  Tigger, Denice & Family, Jackson, NJ
