Louie's Eye Update

Well we are having a hell of a time with Louie's eye. Last night when I got home, my husband was holding Louie who was screaming and flailing trying to get to his eye. Apparently he popped his pro collar, and went after his eye, removing his contact from his monday debridement appointment. 

This morning I got up at 5am and Louie was super squinty again. I gave his meds and went in to work, and worked until 1 pm when my other manager came in so I could drive the hour home to collect Louie and take him to my regular vet who confirmed the contact was gone, and thought perhaps the eye drops were the source of his new discomfort. So we got back in the car and drove another hour to the specialist, who put in his NEW contact, and dispensed his new eye drops.

So pray that Louie leaves his eye alone and this contact lense stays put for this ulcer to heal! I'm just getting over a cold, and am completely exhausted, but Louie is resting comfortably in the back seat now, so I feel like we can finally relax for now.

Louie isn't feeling very photogenic lately with his inflatable collar, but Wade spent some time in the sun today and let me take some pictures :)

Hi all!  Both of my fosters finished their medications today (except for louie's benadryl...he still licks a bit),

Luckily I have off today, so I can hang out and cuddle him all day :)

Louie's easter basket came today! So cute! Unfortunately,  he is on a restricted diet until we resolve his skin allergies.. I don't think he will mind if I share them with foster brother Wade! Wade had a hard day and could use a treat!

Louie goes to school

Hi all! Louie did really well today. He met 5 or 6 people, sat on command, gently accepted treats, and didn't bite a single person! He is becoming more confidant and less hand shy. I think he will be a great dog! He is very food motivated, and VERY tennis ball motivated! I am excited. I think as long as he meets his potential adopters in a neutral environment, he will do just fine! What a relief! I think he had fun with my trainer. We did a bit of targeting and clicker training, and he's not the smartest dog I've ever seen, but he gets it! Im looking forward to next week's class!

Letter from Dobby to Louie

Dobby wanted to write to Louie, and sent him this note:

Another Louie Update

I am just amazed at how fast he is progressing with his skin! Im feeding him dry salmon grain free kibble with frozen raw bites rabbit. He loves it! I made a collage to show you all how great he is looking!

Louie With His Treats

Here Louie is enjoying some of his coconut chips. He really likes them, and they are more fun and less messy than adding coconut oil to his food. Theyre coconut oil in treat form! Thanks so much to the kind supporter who bought them for him! His skin is on the mend, and with his team of supporters, Louie will be healed and happy in no time!

Louie Says Thanks for His Wishlist Gifts

Louie received most of his wishlist items and his foster welcome package today! He was SUPER excited about the tennis ball. He is sort of obsessed with them lol.

Louie Plays With a Huge Ball

Hey all, so I get home today from work, and my husband tells me the funniest thing. I just have to share. Now first, you must know that Louie is a bit obsessed with his ball. Any ball, really. He plays with a ball by himself, He likes fetch a lot, but if no one will play with him, he will bark at his ball. And if it rolls under things, he barks at it. Im working on teaching him to sit when he wants his ball instead of barking like a nut, btw. Alright. So my husband has a large excercise ball he uses in place of a chair sometimes. Louie noticed that though it was large, this was still a BALL. apparently he began to bark at it, tried to put it in his mouth, and chased it around as best he could. Of course it is pretty big, full of sand, and he is small, so it didnt work very well, but he gave it his best! I only wish my husband had recorded this! He actuallt had ro hide the ball in another room lol Have a great night, everyone! Erin

Louie Settles In

I cant believehowmuch better his feet seem in just a few days. No longer hot to the touch, much less swollen. Yay! He seems like he is settling in just fine. Good with my cats too! Hes a big boy at 30lbs :)

Welcome Louie

Meet new foster Louie -  he sure is a looker!!

From foster Mom, Erin;

Once we got home, I gave Louie a benadryl for his feet, and we played ball for a while, which he is sort of obsessed about. He seems in much better spirits now! 

I do notice him lifting his back right foot, and I wonder which foot was stepped on. All his toes look painful, so its hard to tell if thats all it is. Ill be sure to have my vet look at him asap.

So far he seems to want to play ball with my dogs through the gate, and has not been scared or aggressive since we got home. More to come I am sure!
