More Lilly

Maxing and relaxing like we did in the 80s! Winding down from playtime with my sweatshirt (which she has claimed as her own!). Lilly is the coolest!

Update on Lily

Lily2014
Hi all,
We received our card celebrating the anniversary of welcoming our lovely lady Lily into our home.  It is hard to believe another year has passed!  Even after all these years, Lily continues to amaze us with the strides she continues to make.  She came to us as a former mill mama, and was totally fearful of all people, us included.  I’m glad to say that she has changed so much – she is our so-brave baby!  She will now come and sit with us in the living room when we have company, and will sniff hands all around (although she still does not like to be touched too much). She is closer than ever to her pug-brother Nino, spending lots of time with him in his big new dog bed napping.  Her new favorite place to spend an evening is curled up on the bed with us, which in our eyes is truly a miracle!  To see her lying there, totally relaxed and snoring fit to beat the band is wonderful!  We are so happy Lily came into our lives.  Thank you so much for all the work you do for these puppies!

Nancy and Keith, thank you for all the love you give this little lady. It is wonderful to see how much she has changed.

Update on Lilly

"We got Lilly from NEBTR about 7 months ago. She was rescued from a puppy mill, was terrified of everything, and had no social skills. Her foster parents did a great job of introducing her to other dogs and people who wouldn't hurt her, and then they entrusted her to us. She's learned to play with our Pug Nino, and while she still doesn't like to be touched by people, she doesn't act scared any more. Thank you NEBTR for your wonderful work!"

The Lilly Chronicles - The Final Chapter

Now is time to write the final chapter on this special little
boston that came from a Rabbit Hutch Mill to the life of Luxury.

Lilly has made such wonderful progress in the three months we had her
that I myself have been amazed.

Today, Lilly has been adopted by a great couple with a pug! Lilly
will be so happy. I just recieved an email that Lilly is already
making herself at home!!! I can hardly believe it! From such a
scared little thing..to starting her new life with a bit of
confidence. I am so proud of her. We made her a new pretty collar,
sent some toys and treats with her. I wish only happiness and joy
for Lilly and her new family. May she bring bright light to your
heart and quite smiles to your faces. Lilly is a special Boston that
will forever remain in our hearts.

The end

Tammy T and her Family
Kisses Lilly...we love you

This was Lilly's Petfinder description:

My name is Lilly and I have never had a name before, it feels good when my foster family calls me Lilly. See, I lived in a rabbit hutch all my life. People were not nice to me. I am scared of everything. All I knew how to do was have puppies. My foster mommy says that I am improving everyday.I go outside and I come back in all by myself. I am not fond of a leash yet, but with patience, I am sure I will come to like it. I prefer a fenced in yard. I feel more secure. I love big dogs and small dogs. I even like cats. Although I love my foster family and thank them for caring for me, I am wishing for a family all of my own. Will you please be my new family? I am eager to please, but I need a kind hand and paitence as I am still learning how to live in a house. I will in the end be the best little girl you ever had...... "

It is so wonderful that Lilly now has a home and family of her own!

The Lilly Chronicles - Part 5

Well, Lilly has been here just over a month.
and the progress she has made is super!
she goes in and out with all the other dogs
she even goes out when we open the door for her!!
She is learning to just sit still when we want to pick her up
and she knows the feeding times and the excitement everyone gets when
its supper time.

We still need to work on asking for out, learning to trust a bit more
and the leash. Right now Lilly will not tolerate the leash and adding
to her anxiety is not a good thing right now.

Lilly is even learning to come through the Doggie door!

She is responding so well and her continued progress is hopeful.
Lilly is looking for a family with older children (10+) dogs and or
cats...can be an only dog though. Perferably a fenced in yard not a
must though and someone who will contiune to work with Lilly.

Until next time!

The Lilly Chronicles - Part 4

Well, Miss Lilly has been spayed. She did very well.
really didn't seem to phase her at all.

There are days we take one step forward, then two steps back, but
things are slowly coming along for Lilly.

She is still unsure of Humans and does not react to hugs or kisses yet.
But in time, I am sure Lilly will one day figure out...that the love a
forever home gives is what she has been waiting for all this time.
As Lilly prepares for a forever home, we will continue to love and
support her until the day she leaves.

If anyone is interested in adopting Lilly or if you know someone who is
ready for a Boston like Lilly, please contact the group/application.

until later.....

The Lilly Chronicles - Part 2

I have to comment about my dogs. Most of you know that I have a houseful. but I am not sure everyone realizes that I have 9 dogs.
5 greys
2 bostons
and 2 doxies
now..most of you think OMG 9
but let me say that They are the most caring wonderful and most forgiving dogs on this planet. (at least I think so) They know we foster. they know that all the dogs that come through here go to a forever home. They help me in training all the fosters that come here. Do they let me know which dogs better not stayhere.??
you bet! esp. my Pugsley..He is a Boston "weather" vane. If it's a dog he knows he can help me with..they stay..if not...I better get another home ASAP because he will NOT tolerate the dog at all.

So...fast forward now to Lilly. Our new mill foster. All the dogs are so willing to help her. They are trying to show her how to go outside and that its alright to come in. She is so scared
that she will not even come near us if she is outside. I have tried the leash thing..but oh my she is not ready for that. So..Lilly is outside. there goes Pugsley..Pugs pees. looks at Lilly
and then comes in. Next its the others..One by one they do the same thing. Tessa even shoved Lilly like..see..this is how it's done. But Lilly still wont come in. she just shakes and runs. The dogs don't give up though..they keep trying a while until they can't pee anymore! lol then they all look at me as if to say..YOUR turn. So then..I have to go out and chase her around until I catch her.

They leave her alone too. I guess they feel she needs rest and peace. I am so amazed that my troops are so patient. They have for the most part been a great deal of support with all the rehabilitation that all these mill dogs have gotten. If it wasn't for them, I think that most of my mill dogs would be here longer and learn less.

So Kudos to my puppers, and to Lilly..she is such a sweet girl and who ever adopts her will will be the luckiest family!
