Sunday Valentine Goes to the Rainbow Bridge

My 15 year old son made this little collage in her memory. She left this world not being able to see or hear us, but feeling the hands and love of both her first and foster families on her. Run free, little girl. You are missed.

What a beautiful memorial. Thanks for taking care of her, I loved seeing all her updates. Such a sweet face. She will be surely missed. - Erin

Sunday can now hear and see you. Sunday felt your love and gentle hands while she left this earth, you will feel her love forever.

I am sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace sweet girl - Joyce

I am so sorry to hear about Sunday Valentine. These sweet seniors give tons of love and ask for little in return. Thank you for loving her, Marjorie. Her burdens are lifted now. - Diane

Sunday Valentine

Hi Everyone! I know it's been a long time since you've heard from me. I've been busy chasing the sunny spots around the floor and sleeping in them.

I'm here today while I still can to say THANK YOU to NEBTR for giving me a warm, safe place to stay for the last year and a half when my first Mama couldn't take care of me anymore. You might remember that one of my human baby brothers needed surgery far away when he was born, and my family loved me enough to contact the rescue to find someone who would love this 13 year old blind and deaf pup as much as they do. Well, I turned 15 this month, and I have lived a good life. My old family still comes to visit me, and my new family spoils me with homemade turkey meatloaf in my kibble. But my foster Mama took me to the vet this week, and she said my kidneys aren't working like they are supposed to anymore, and that's why I haven't been feeling well for the last few weeks. Mama says that in a few days, I'm going to go to a special place called the Rainbow Bridge, where I will play and run again without my legs and back hurting. She is giving me lots of cuddles and treats this week, and she says I will be able to see and hear, and feel like a new girl again!

I will be surrounded by all the people who love me. But I couldn't go without saying thank you to all the special people who support the Senior Trust and NEBTR and work so hard to give even old ladies like me a second chance. Someday I will see you all again!

Love and Kisses, Sunday Valentine

The Turkey Loaf was a Hit!

They love every last bite, Sunday and Maggie licked the pan clean!!

For those interested in the recipe, see below;

Turkey Loaf

·      6 pounds  of ground turkey or ground chicken or ground beef,or 2 family pac
  • No Salt, Pepper or onions
What I found to be the easiest way is-  in a pot large enough to mix all the ingredients in, this way you only have one pot to clean.

·      Assorted fresh vegetables, can use frozen – carrots, broccoli, kale, zucchini, cauliflower, spinach, etc.  – at least 3 different ones per batch, and should represent only 25% of the mixture
·      6 eggs (1 per pound of ground turkey)
·      ½ cup fresh parsley (more or less) - optional
·      uncooked oatmeal about 1 cup – optional if your dog has grain intolerance

Add frozen vegetables to the same pot to thaw.

If you use fresh veges - In the food processor:   -  Process the fresh veges,  and parsley together.   Add the rest of the ingredients to pot, mix well. Spray 2 baking pans with Pam or grease pan with butter or oil. The pans I use are oblong cake pans approx.  9x13x2    Six pounds of meat per pan. Two pans 12 pounds of meat.
If you have a butcher you might be able to get a better price on the meat since you are buying in bulk.

Bake at 350 about 40 minutes or until turkey loaf looks browned around the sides of the pan.
Cut each pan into meal-size portions and wrap individually in tin foil, and freeze.
To serve, heat in the microwave with water.
Of course you can reduce or increase recipe according to your needs.

Sunday Valentine here!  I might be getting on in years, and I don't see or hear...but I still have big pleasures in my life, thanks to NEBTR, my foster mama that moves my bed into the sun every day, and Jodi Gundersen who sent me the most AWESOME Easter basket!  As you can see, I was thrilled to wake up from my napping to crunch down on a delicious POOCHEYCHEF cookie!!  I'm going to have a special "SPRING" in my step today, thanks to the sun and all the yummy nutritious treats I got today.
A special thank you for the extra treats for my foster sister Maggie, who dances like a circus dog for treats!  I can feel the vibrations in the floor when she gets excited!!  Jodi Gunderson and Chris Schezzini, you are awesome!!!!

Marjorie - SV looks wonderful! Thank you for caring for her so lovingly.

Sunday Valentine thanks Secret Santa!

Sunday valentine here!

I decided to venture out of the little place that foster mama had shoveled out and explore the world, but all I found was snow. And more snow! When my paws got cold, foster mama came out and rescued me <3

Just wanted to check in with you. And I really want to thank my secret Santas Allye and Ellen!! I have lots of bones to chew on and I had a beautiful Christmas stocking. And mama is encouraging me to play with my toy!

Mama will show you how happy I am with my new things and on my adventure!

A Sunday snooze for Sunday. You can see behind her the doggie door I prop open when I'm not home and she goes in and out all by herself :)
Sunday will be turning 14 in just three weeks!

Sunday Valentine

Ms. Sunday V here...
Foster Mama tells me that when I sleep, I talk. She thinks when I dream, I can see and hear everything again like I used to. Maybe that's why napping is what I love best!
She also tells me I'm turning fourteen on November 27th. I really hope she doesn't put a silly party hat on me. I'm much too dignified for that! :)
Just wanted to let everyone know and I'm feeling loved, and I'm thankful to NEBTR from making sure and I am happy and healthy!!
With bone-breath kisses,
Sunday Valentine

What a sweetheart!  Thanks so much Marjorie. What a beautiful girl!
