Parker's gone and done it this time....

...he went and found a perfectly good forever home!

It is with tears of joy and and sadness that I write these words. I've spent the evening packing up his bags, gather directions, and generally getting ready for the big drive tomorrow afternoon. A wonderful family from NJ is very excited to adopt Parker and make him a big part of their family. It looks like a fabulous match and I am so excited for them.

I'm so very sad that he is leaving our home....he has spent 9 weeks with us. The first month was very rough, but the second was this amazing growth and development of Parker and his relationship with me and our family here.

This is what fostering is all about though: rescuing and saving these dogs from near death, the horrors of the mills, neglect, etc. and rehabilitating them, loving them, and providing a future and a hope with a family that loves and cares for them. As a foster home, we are but one piece in each dog's puzzle. And the hardest, most painful moment for the foster parent is the moment everyone in the rescue works towards. We work towards the day when each dog is adopted into their forever home. It hurts when the dog takes a part of my heart with him, but knowing that we took care of him when he needed it most is worth it all.

I love you Parker. Take care as your chapter with us closes. Tomorrow is where your story really begins.....

Foster Baby Maggie

Here's Maggie's story:

"Maggie-6 mo puppy, spayed, UTD, crate trained and housebroken. Loves everyone, especially children. Good with other dogs. Owner has 3 small children and is facing brain surgery. She's not sure what she will be able to handle after that and wants to see that Maggie is taken care of while she is able to."

And here's what her foster mother Jessica says about her:

"Hi Everyone-

Just wanted to let you all know Maggie is doing great- she is adjusting well and loves having a sister to play with. They have been chasing each other around and playing almost nonstop. I have attached a few pictures. I will send another update soon :)

Boomer Update to Donna

Hi Donna--
I thought you'd like to hear about this. Boomer has bloomed into a wonderful, feisty and lovable old guy. He finally decided he needed to assert himself in early March. He hasn't stopped barking and ruling the roost since then. He has gained weight, his coat looks great and he is a NUT. He goes absolutely CRAZY over squeaky toys (he can snatch one out of anybody's mouth faster than any dog I've ever seen), he loves his buster cube (chases it upstairs and downstairs) and regularly patrols the backyard. He went to the Pabby's Meet and Greet in early April and I think all will tell you he's no longer afraid of ANYTHING!! You would not believe he's the same scared, starved little old man you grabbed out of that barn.

Ran into a Success Story

Hello

Just wanted to let everyone know that I ran into a former foster! I was leaving work the other day and there was a big boston there picking up one of the kids ( I am a teacher). So of course I had to say hello! Apparently he was adopted from NEBTR. His name is Bear and he sure is a bear! He is huge! Just wanted to let those of you that remember him that he is doing well with a great family.

Midge's Adoption

Hi All - Well, Midge is safely with her forever new owners. The Seymours were sooo excited to see Midge that Mary started to cry with excitement. Me too -- Midge went right to Ron's arms and never once shivered or hesitated.... She was very relaxed in his arms and Mary kept rubbing Midge's face... The adoption went great!!! I have attached a picture of Midge with her new, happy owners....

Thanks for everyone's help as this was my foster girl.... Your patience and assistance was great and much appreciated!

Here's JJ's Petfinder Bio:

"JJ is a Boston Terrier pup, about 9-10 months old. He's in excellent health and very active. JJ would do best as an only, adored, pup with an owner who wants to give lots of love and play time to a willing student. JJ is completely house trained, walks very well on a leash and knows basic commands such as "sit, stay, and come". JJ is not food aggressive or toy aggressive, but WILL chase cats and "wee animals that run". This boy must only be taken out while on a leash. JJ CAN and WILL jump a low fence to chase after an animal. He is trained to be toileted while on a leash. JJ is a wonderful pup who needs a person to love him forever. If you are ready for a committment to give and get love for a long time, then JJ might be just the companion dog you'd want. He must have a sweater on in cold weather, and should not be exercised in very warm temperatures. This is true, of course, for any animal that has a thin, single coat."
