Update on Bunnie

Bunnie came into foster care with her brother, Turbo.  When it was realized that Bunnie was an agility star prospect, it was decided by her foster parents that the best home for Bunnie would be with caregivers who would encourage this skill in her.  Turbo was then adopted by Alexandra, his foster mom.

Kristen, Bunnie's forever mom, writes, "She's doing great!! We couldn't have asked for a better dog for us! She's chilling right now.she's good at that. We bought her some agility equipment, and she's loving it."

Here is Bunnie in her rain gear.  Kristen says that she tries to shake it off, but she hates the rain even more. She is always with her tennis ball in her mouth." Bunnie is a real athlete, and "seriously jumps so high it's funny."

Her one quirk is that she "cannot STAND it when someone 'blows a raspberry'. She howl/barks and gets very stresed."

It is great to hear that Bunnie is living the good life with Kristen and Danny. There is a visit planned this spring for Turbo and Bunnie so they can get together again.

Update on Mitzy

Here is an update on Mitzy, the 5 year old puppy mill girl I fostered that was rescued in September from a mill in Allentown, PA by Lisa Vaughan. What I will most remember her for is that she just loved, loved, loved cuddling up and rolling around in her dog bed. I guess it was because she never had a soft place to sleep. She
was adopted 3 days after Christmas to a wonderful family in New Jersey who has been loving her and continues to rehab her as she still learns to live life in the outside world. Here is a picture of  Mitzy (on the right) and her older brother Ludwig, who is mill survivor who is blind. The second picture I'm uploading is the night before her adoption.  This picture sums up her entire personality in one shot. Her puppy factory days are
certainly over, yay Mitzy.

Here is her family's update...

“This is Ludwig and Mitzy laying in my lap on the recliner. It is not uncommon to have all three in
my lap. Mitzy is learning to play. In the beginning, if she had a toy and we tried to tease her by pulling on it, she would walk away like she wasn't supposed to have it. She has gotten to the point where she will take the toy, and run. I'm trying to teach her and Boyd (mom's shih tzu) to fetch, but Ludwig is the only one who participates. Mitzy is still man-nervous, and Tim cannot get her to go outside to potty. I usually walk out into the yard with her and the two others at bedtime. She has gotten to the point where she thinks the big yard is
pretty cool, and if we are out there and I yell "look at her go" she will run her little tail off running around the yard, in the doggy door, back out and around and back in.

So, we are doing well.

She's very nervous about going out front on a leash when we are going in the
car. I did take her to the river and once we got there and started walking
around, she was very good.”

Porkchop Has a Forever Home

My little old man, Porky, went to his forever home last night.
Porky came from the Harrisburg Humane Society where he was dropped off on 4 different occasions.

He went to live in Old Bridge NJ with the Preteroti family. You can see them in one of the attachments. They have a 3 yr old lab and their parents live with them so someone will almost always be home. They have a fenced in yard too.

They also are raring and ready to play hours of fetch with the Porkman!
I think Porky will be very happy with them. He has so many people to play fetch with.

From Bizzy's Furever Dad

From Bizzy's Furever Dad:

Hi All,

I'm so glad to here that everyone is interested in how Bizzy is doing and that she is so loved and very popular. I'm happy to say Bizzy is doing wonderful. When quite a few people had mentioned she would become queen of the house i was a bit reluctant to admit it, but BOY was i wrong! She is so babied and spoiled. I can't honestly say if its possible to love a dog any more than we love her. She is our world. And she has her Daddy wrapped around her paws totally.

A typical day starts with her waking us up nice and early, taking her walk, eating her breakfast and then retreating to her favorite spot atop the couch by the window to bask in the sun. It's her favorite. She will also find a sun spot shining on the floor and take one of her bones and lay there for at least a half hour gnawing away. that is until something else catches her attention like squirrel on the deck(she is fascinated with them) or her random urge to attack us with power kisses. She now also loves to be tickled and have her tummy scratched along with wrestling on the bed. And is STILL a die hard for her tennis ball and fetch. When she's finally tired out she cuddles with Tasha and I on the couch and burrows under the blanket.

As far as her knees go you would never tell she had surgery. She is lightning fast and takes giant leaps off the top of the couch to fetch her ball. When she goes to Grandma and Grampa's she will jump right over the arm rest of Grampa's recliner and into the chair right off the floor. They adore her by the way and they love to have her over for the day to play, where she stares at they're bird Harley most of the time. She's also able to walk up and down steps now.

She gets along with EVERYONE! Everyone who meets her loves her, even my co-workers when I bring her by for visits. And after being a bit of reluctant we find she is great with other dogs, even females. We take her to the dog park and she plays well with others. We even got to take her to a Boston Terrier Meetup. I really want to get her to one of the events so everyone can see her, it's a bit tough because both Tasha and I work weekends but I'm sure we'll figure something soon. Thanks again to Lisa for bringing us our little monster. I tell everyone that I hope when we have kids that they are half as cool as are dog, because there gonna have a hard act to follow haha. As I write Bizzy is snoring away on the couch in the sun and living it up like a princess. Adopting her is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. And again thanks so much to everyone who was involved in the process. Hope to see everyone soon.

Update on Cori

Cori was found as a stray wandering the streets in Philadelphia. She was very thin, blind on one eye from old trauma, and had recently had puppies. When first arriving at her foster home, Cori was scared of everything but settled in after a few days. She blossomed over time into a chubby, funny, affectionate, toy loving little girl, and found the perfect loving home!

From HER NEW OWNER:

"Cori is loved by everyone. Yesterday we took her to the barn where Jessie’s show pony lives so she could ride, and everyone made such a big fuss over her. Then we went to a local pet store to get her a new harness & of course matching leash…oh my Jessie was even trying to buy her a dress! I told her Cori is not that FuFu. Everyone there loved her and asked a million questions about her and couldn’t believe she was a rescue and so well behaved. I told them she is a poster perfect rescue dog! She loves to sleep up with Jessie and stays in the same spot all night. She did eat little yesterday & then more today. Each day she gets a little more brave, at first she didn’t want to walk to the other end of our house, its kinda spread out but by today she was following me everywhere. We did set up our crate so if we go out anywhere and she can’t go, which has only been twice, she can hang out in there with her toys. We are off to a horse show in Saratoga,NY this Friday afternoon and she is going! I will take a crate for her to be in while I am working around the horses, but she will get tons of attention from all the barn families that ride with our farm."

Farewell to Mom Mom

We are very sorry for the loss of one of our rescues, Mom Mom.

She was surrendered to a shelter in February 2008 at the age of 12. She had only a few hours to be rescued before being pts. Amy and Mike rushed to the shelter and took her home. She was suffering from severe allergies and so many senior ailments. She quickly took the hearts of Amy and Mike and they named her "Mom Mom" and they kept her as their own and helped her regain her health. She was a wise "old soul" from whom Amy and Mike learned many lessons of love and compassion. On May 14th, Mom Mom passed away from complications of pneumonia. She was at least 14 years old. We salute Amy and Mike and know they will find Mom Mom waiting for them at the Rainbow Bridge.

As Amy notes, "it will be very difficult because as she always walks behind me, I'll always feel like she is still there, walking just out of sight. So I've told her that when she leaves for Rainbow Bridge I want her to walk behind me still in spirit and I will imagine that she is still there, just as she always has been."

Update on Junior

Junior arrived at his foster home in January, he was dumped at the shelter by his former family as they said they now longer wanted him. Junior was suffering from frost bite, thin, his coat was patchy and he had an infection from his neuter. It seems they were letting him live outside. Despite all of that he was so sweet he just wanted be with his people. Junior is now the Prince of Soho. He lives downtown in a trendy NYC loft. Junior lives with 2 Bulldogs and 2 Cats. Junior's coat has come back he has put on weight. His favorite activities are laying on the sofas big pillows and loves sunning himself by the big windows of the loft.

New Foster Oscar

Here is a picture of Oscar. We picked him up at the PSPCA on Wednesday night. He's dealing with kennel cough and allergies at the moment and needs to be neutered but he is a sweetheart. We had 19 people over for brunch today and he was great with everyone.

Chester is Adopted

Yesterday morning I drove out to Scranton, PA where Chester was adopted
by the Kragowski family. Leanne and Ryan were so wonderful, and had been
looking for a dog for a long time, and were excited to finally meet
Chester. We were in touch for the past three weeks talking about
Chester, while they waited for him to be neutered and for Ryan to get
back from a business trip before they could finally adopt him. They
drove down from upstate NY yesterday and met me in Scranton and it was
love at first site. Leanne even had a hand knitted sweater for Chester
to wear in case he was cold! I only had him for a few weeks, but Chester
was the sweetest, easiest foster I've had yet. He is going to make them
very happy! And the Kragowskis have two young sons - I think those boys
are going to love their new, laid back 'brother'!

Congratulations to Max!

From Foster Maximus Fenway

Congratulations to Max, who has been adopted by Roxann, his foster Mom. Roxann writes,

"Yes -- we wanted to share the good news. We have finally decided to adopt our foster boy - Max... He is a wonderful 2-1/2 yr old little red Boston Terrier. We have been fostering him since January 7, 2010 and for some reason found reasons that every family interested in adopting him had something that we didn't feel would be in Max's best interest. Deep down we know that we loved Max and he would only be good for us.

He is obedience trained, loves to play hard, snuggle and sleep in bed. I have already started him in agility and I know he will be Great.
I have attached (hopefully) a picture of Max...

Thanks for listening to the proud new "Mom".

Just wanted to send along some pictures of a former foster. Joey was surrendered by an owner last summer (previous owner was sick and couldn't care for him anymore). We still see Joey on a regular basis - as a matter of fact his new mommy is due with his two-legged brother one month before me. She sent me these pictures recently.... just thought you might like to see him!! He is just the sweetest thing ever!!

Otto's Naughty Day

I just found one of my favorite videos online and thought I'd share it with everyone. I laugh so hard when I watch it because I've seen the ears pinned back look of guilt so many times. ENJOY!

Meet Porkchop

Porky is such a little lovebug in our home.
He is good with cats, good with dogs, good with people, good with kids, good with baths, sleeps the night through in bed, loves walks, good on leash, good in the crate, potty trained, gives great kisses, doesn't jump on you, good in the car...
What more could you ask for!!!!
He LOVES fetch, but is very good at bringing it back to you and putting it in your lap.
Overall he is just a great little guy.

Meet Chubba Bubba, aka Bubba

Chubba Bubba came from Allentown, about 10 minutes from me. The family bought him and thought he would be a good addition. Problem is that they had 5 kids.(The kids named him, can you tell?) They underestimated the time needed to care for a puppy and realized that he needed a better home. They posted him on craigslist and received tons of calls but decided that rescue was the best choice for him. YAY!

Chubba is a 5 month old baby boy, although he looks younger to me. He goes to the vet tomorrow, so we will find out. He is a little terror of a puppy and we love it! He is all about being rough and rolling around with my 2 yr old Boston Penny.

He is a very sweet puppy!
