Update on Gilbert

This Gilbert. He came to us years back as a foster through Nebtr and won our hearts. Not sure if any of you would remember him. His name was Hammer when he came to us. He's sporting a pair of purple ear muffs and relaxing after a nice long walk at the park! Ah, life is good

Update on Daisy May

Well, it is just under a month since Daisy May went to her forever home. I was afraid she would have some difficulties as she came back to me after 10 days due to her new Mama's needing to go out of town for a family emergency and she didn't want to leave her with strangers. She came in here and settled in like she had never left. When I took her back after four days, she went right up to her new papa, trying to give kisses and ran all through the house to check on "her" things.

When I called to check on things, the first thing Mary said to me was "No, you can't have her back!!" Mary and Roger have another little rescue dog, a long haired chihuahua who is very skittish and runs and hides if anyone comes to the house. She and Daisy May are now fast friends and they sleep together in the same crate. They have a bed and the crate door is open but they prefer to nap in there. Mary tells me that Daisy May even had Bella (the little one) playing which she has not done in all the time they have had her! I think Daisy May has hit the doggie lotto. She found a great home and is very happy. Housebreaking is almost 100% now and she minds well and snuggles up with them every night. A totally win win situation. Joan Stark

Mugsy Gets Adopted

Mugsy was brought in by his former owners to be put to sleep. The vet that was scheduled for his appointment contacted me prior seeing if we could take Mugsy if she could talk the owner into signing him over. Mugsy got a HUGE break that day. The vet spent 45 minutes talking his former owner out of putting him to sleep. Then the Animal Hospital paid for AAAALLLLLLLL of his bloodwork, meds, etc.

This boy got crazy lucky! He was saved by a vet and adopted by a vet! He is going to live with Lisa and Brett Shampaner. Lisa is a vet in Weehawken. He is going to have a bt/beagle sister named Cheney and a cat sister named Nermal.

He couldn't be any luckier. This little boy is going to live happily ever after with an awesome family!

Festa Clan Wins First Place

Uncle Fester had to stay home.... He's still on bed rest, but Otis and his gang of mobsters and flappers were out in full force :)

New Foster Jameson

Jameson (on right) was a good little girl all the way home. she slept all the way.

When we got home, she was met by my whole pack, but after a few minutes, everyone settled down and we all went to bed. It was a very quiet night. she slept all night long in a blanket filled crate.

This morning, well...let's just say she is a fast little girl, runs around like she is a tornado. So extra caution must be taken because sometimes the greyhounds will think its a race and they will chase her.

Jameson is a very young dog. I am sure she will not be here long as she should be ready in her allotted time for her new home. I am hopeful that there will be applicants approved so Jameson can start her new life ASAP. Not that I will be in a hurry to send her. She is very sweet.

She is a cuddle bug! Loves to be held, loves to lay on laps and listens very well.
No potty issues yet. She goes outside with the rest of them. and will pee on command. (I think she likes it when I clap and tell her good girl) LOL

Chef Amy at Peddler's Village Competition

Happy Ending for Tiny

Tiny was adopted on Monday by Kathy and Chris Thomforde. Tiny was put on craigslist by her former owner and we were able to get her pulled off fast, especially since she wasn't fixed.

Tiny is a super sweet playful little girl. She is just a little bundle of sweetness. She and our Penny had the best time playing and wrestling.

Tiny's daddy is the president of Moravian college, making Tiny the "first dog" of Moravian.

Her mom gave me an update on Tuesday night that everything was going wonderfully. Tiny met lots of the college staff, went for walks, and snuggled up for hours with her mommy. They are going to get her enrolled in some training classes soon. Kathy said that she is just on Cloud 9 and totally in love!

Vivienne the Model

Vivienne, who owns Jerrilyn Walter of New Rochelle, New York, has been a busy girl. She has been scoring some modeling gigs lately. She did a Kohls ad and recently a White House Black Market catalogue. Her mama is so proud of her!

They have decided that they would like to give the proceeds from her latest shoot to NEBTR so we can continue to do such great work and take in all the doggies who need us! She made $300 last time just for being so lovely.

She is quite beautiful but she has a big big heart as well :) Thank you Vivienne and Jerrilyn!

New Foster Trooper

Trooper loves the car!



Trooper went to the vet today and got all fixed up. He was neutered, and had to have 2 teeth extracted. They trimmed his nails a little bit more & cleaned his ears. Dr. Tack is wonderful & very kind. He is at home now resting. I hope this helps some with his marking around the house.

He is a very good dog & very sweet. Now that he is allowed to roam the house, he doesn't cry at night anymore. I crate him overnight with my Zoey and he is quite comfortable with her. Soon he will be ready to start looking for a furever home. i keep saying how sweet he is. He doesn't bark much (just when we first got him & he had to stay separated from the other dogs for the first week), he's very kind, not dominating at all but very passive with me & both my bt's and anyone else who has come into the house. Not even one tiny bit of food aggression which i cant get over since he was homeless for who knows how long. And they even said at the vets that he was passive with their big resident siamese cat.

Just overall a really great dog! Breaks my heart to know he was walking the streets of Philly.

As some of you may know, for the first time since our inception, NEBTR is faced with a tremendous financial situation that could ultimately result in us refusing to take in dogs. We have had a large number of dogs surrendered so far this year. In August, we surpassed our entire 2010 foster dogs intake. Our vet expenses are over the top and our funds are low. We’ve spent $20k in two months! We don’t want to say “no” to any dog we know we would otherwise be able to take, rehab and find a new forever home. It tears us up to think that is the position we find ourselves in. By participating in this auction, you can help us keep up our mission!

They come in packages of 5 for $27.00 and 12 for $54.00, which includes shipping and handling to your home. You buy a pack of either size by clicking on the Paypal button below. We send you your package. You fill in your honoree's name and your signature and mail it to them. They will receive the card from you, knowing that your gift in their name will go toward helping out Boston Terriers in need. What better gift is there than helping out a homeless animal?

He stopped sucking on them and then started destroying them like most Bostons do! I got him a kong and a rope and some other toys that he loves and chews on. He no longer needs his pacifier.

Update on Macy

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to pass this along. For October I had to send physical
Anniversary cards to people who don't have email. So today I received a
note from Lillian Horton. She adopted Macy in 10/2009, who was fostered
by Vickie Rowe. Lillian said

"Macy is the best dog and we get along very well. She goes where I go if
an animal is allowed. She sleeps with me. And eats the same time as I.
How lucky I am to have her. She is a good friend."
