New Foster Lucy

Yesterday Lucy arrived thanks to Tom who brought her into the city for us and Jerrilyn who helped arrange her trip.

We are already in love with Lucy. Two and a half years old, she is super friendly and extremely energetic so we will be looking to find her a home that will embrace her lovable and highly rambunctious energy. We are so excited to have her with us for the holidays!

Walmart's Fundraiser a Success

A very special thank you to Cynthia and Craig  Musselman who do this and other events each year.   Cynthia takes a vacation day from her job to spend cooking and jarring the delicious wine jellies she makes.  Each jar is topped with a dog themed fabric which is attached by gold elastic and labelled with an NEBTR logo. Her table is as professionally dressed as you will find in any high end store and they both set it up at these events and sell them on behalf our of Bostons at only $6 a jar.  It is a lot of work and a lot of sales to reach that total.

Another successful labor of love.  Thank you from all of us.

Cynthia writes,  "I want to thank Terri Anderson, Jess Casey, Robyn Seely, and Lisa Vaughan. for helping us to raise $720.00 on Saturday at Walmart in Quakertown.

Donations totalled $660.00 and Lisa picked up 10 jars of jelly to fill orders for her coworkers.

This brought the total to $720.00.

Thank you ladies, the money could not have been raised without your help."

Tammy Trivelpiece's Gifts

Special thanks to Tammy Trivelpiece, fabulous foster mom, for her gift this holiday season in memory of two of her fosters, Pugsley and Mami.  These two souls entered into her home for foster care, and remained loved there for the rest of their lives, knowing nothing but the best of everything.

Now, this Christmas time, a new Boston, Maeby, has entered Tammy's heart and she will have that same care for the rest of her life.  What a beauty she is!  We believe that Mami and Pugsley have sent her this gift in return for all she did for them.

We have personally suffered many passings of dear fur kids and friends this year, but we still believe that life does go on and there are so many more needing our help. We try our best to be part of the "BIGGER" picture and could not do it without the support and guidance YOU all have shared!

Thanks to Sheryl for Believing in me many years ago when I desperately was looking for help for an Old Gal in our kill shelter. We brought Sassy home and gave her the love she needed until her forever home was found. That was our first Boston Foster.

Many years and more fosters later, we are very proud of the work we have done with NEBTR and hope that the coming year will prove the same.

Ozzie Is Adopted

Today was a bitter sweet day... Ozzie went to his forever home this afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Pinto arrived at my house around 2 pm and met Mr. Ozzie, and took him home. They seemed like very nice people and I have no doubt that they will take very good care of Ozzie. I will miss him very much, he is such a good boy. I am happy that another BT has been helped and has a happy ending. Everybody in NEBTR plays such a important roll in helping these dogs get to safety and I am very happy to be a part of it.

Thank you so much Ann Marie.  It was your loving care that enabled Ozzie to find his forever home, and we all thank you for opening up your heart and home to him.

Ozzie is between 7-9 years old, he is a very quiet, well behaved mellow gentleman. He likes spending his time sunbathing, and lounging around. He gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters and the resident house cat. The big highlights of Ozzie’s day is when its time for breakfast and dinner. Although Ozzie loves his foster brothers and sisters, and cuddles up with them in a dog bed, he does not show much interest in playing with them or any toys, I think he thinks of himself as a “retired” gentleman whom is too distinguished to play ball or tug. He would prefer to find a nice sun spot and bask in the sun and catch up on his tanning, or sit around and watch TV with you. The words to best describe Ozzie are “kind, gentle soul.” He is housebroken, and a very easy keeper.

Bosley Has His Surgery

Bosley, the Boston left outside of the Allentown, PA vet clinic had luxating patella surgery on Thursday. Carolyn made the arrangements and met us on the turnpike to keep him overnight and then get him to the vet hospital the next morning. It's pretty amazing. He was discharged the same day! The surgeon said he had no restrictions except those he puts on himself. After one quiet day Bosley has made every effort to follow the surgeon's instructions. He's walking, playing with our three Bostons and trying to figure out how to do everything. We're keeping him from stairs and jumping but letting him do everything else. I'm kind of sad because I thought he would face a long recovery and we'd have him with us for a while. It won't be long until he's ready for adoption. The staples should come out in two weeks. He's a great little dog and it's going to be wonderful to see him running without pain.

Update on Petey

Petey was my foster and is doing fantastic.  Here's a pic from a few months ago when I went to visit him.  He learned to flush birds from his Ridgeback brother and sister.  That  is an actual piece of deer hide hanging from his mouth, it's his prize possession.
