Update on Norman
My husband and i became FB friends with a couple who adopted a pup from NEBTR his name is Norman. Well we finally were able to work out our schedules and we got to meet Kathy, Mike and Norman. I have to say you guys did an amazing job of finding Norman the perfect home. Mike and Kathy are amazing with Norman. He is an adorable tiny little brindle boy. Such a bright little guy. I hope all the pups in the rescue can get as amazing parents as Norman did . They are absolutely the best.
Kathy and Mike are totally devoted to Norm. Even though he has had some bowel issues they are working with their vet and coming up with some good solutions to his health issues. I really just wanted to share what a tremendous success story this is for Norman. You guys got him the perfect home and i have to say he looks like a very happy pup...
Thanks for all you do for these guys.. Norm is a testament to all you do for these guys.
Thanks
Loretta Miner
Loretta,
I was Norman's foster and you are right, Mike and Kathy are the perfect home for him. They were dedicated parents right from the beginning, they drove 5 hours (each way) to pick Norman up, even though I offered to meet part of the way, they did all the driving because they didn't want Norman to be anxious. He was such a sweetheart that it was really difficult to part with him but I just knew that he would be going to the best home. And he did! I feel honored to have been just a small part of Norman finding his perfect home and proud to be part of a rescue that puts the needs of these sweet dogs first.

Update on Rocky the Splash
Hello and happy new year!
Rocky is doing well. He is doing great with house training and has calmed down as you'll see in the pics! I am very happy with how things are going...I was worried about my Ozzy (BT) accepting a foster, but he's doing great! And very tolerant of an 11 mo puppy jumping on him while he's sleeping!
Rocky is getting neutered on Monday. If all goes well he should be in his new home shortly!

Flo Says Hello
Look how great she looks!!
Isn't she a pretty lady?
She takes her daily thyroid meds, which helped cut down her weight.
She eats a raw meat diet with a teaspoon of cod liver oil and vitamins each day and her coat is soooo soft and shiny now!
Her coat was incredibly dull and awful when we got her.
Flo is a real funny lady : )

Happy Gotcha Day Boots
Hello NEBTR,
A year ago today we welcomed Boots into our household and immediately fell in love with his gentle nature, unwavering affection, and goofy playfulness. He is a constant source of joy in our home and we are truly thankful for NEBTR and his foster mom, Jackie Foster, for helping us find such an amazing new member of our family. Since Boots' adoption, he's acclimated wonderfully to his new home in Brooklyn. He loves to visit the park, get in the car and go on trips, or just cuddle up with his parents and watch TV. Attached are a few pictures of Boots from the past year. Thanks again for everything and Happy Holidays!

Member Dog of the Day: Louie and Liam
Louie (on both pics on the left) is 4. He is super smart, sweet, energetic, loving, very mischievous and yes everything you can think of a Boston boy lol .
Liam, he will be 4 tomorrow, is about the most loving and playful boy i have ever met. He rather sit right next to you and make sure he is being held than anything else, well ok, food is even more important than that to Liam.
My husband Matt and are active people who go hiking, camping etc. The boys on our side. But we don't mind lying around the couch ever so often :)
I'm looking forward working with all of you and helping where we can.

Bailey Joy Update
We are in the process of trying to see if there is anything orthopedically that can be done to help baby Bailey Joy walk. Look how tiny she is in the picture with her foster sister. Thanks to Elly Monfett for caring for her and helping her grow bigger and stronger. Elly sends along this movie showing how Bailey Joy gets along. If you would like to help her and her medical care, we have set up a chip in at http://bostonrescue.chipin.com/mypages/view/id/be183490e9698003 or on the first page of our main website. Thank you!

New Foster Bryant Boston Thunder
We welcome new foster Bryant Boston Thunder to NEBTR. His foster mom writes, "Despite his weight (30.7 lbs) he is trying to keep up with our active family. He appears to prefer the company of men. More responsive to young men. Patience is the key with him right now. My whole family loves him. He is the King around here. The other dogs are all females."
We thank foster Mom Linda Brennan for opening her heart and home to this boy. Linda, thank you so much for taking Bryant into your care. It is your first foster with NEBTR, though you have a lot of experience with fostering Seeing Eye dogs. We are all here to help you with anything you need.

Beanie is Adopted
Beanie by Walter Williams
Hi, everyone.
I am wishing all of you a very Happy New Year. 2012 was not a good year for me so I am not sorry to see it go. I wanted to share with you how far my forever foster, Beanie has come in the past year. When we got him he was very standoffish, but blended well with the pack after the initial isolation period. He had never been socialized and we are still working on this as he is a very high anxiety dog.
But his personality is coming through so much. When my hubby was ill earlier this year, Beanie would not leave his side and still is hubby's little velcro dog. My hubby also sometimes has episodes of low blood sugar and Beanie seems to sense this and will bark at my hubby until I come to see what is happening. I have come to learn that Beanie knows his business and we handle things before it gets serious.
But I wanted to share what happened this past week and especially this weekend. As most of you probably know there was a very tragic incident in Webster, NY where two firefighters were shot and killed when they went to fight a fire. This is very close to me - about 10 miles. I worked for 10 years with one of the men killed, so as you can understand the past week and this weekend in particular with the funeral, etc. has been difficult and I have spent a lot of time crying.
Beanie has brought me his favorite toy at least a dozen times and placed it in my lap, when he normally does not relinquish it at all. He must have thought this toy wasn't working so he went and emptied the toy box and one by one brought all of them to me an placed them either on my lap or at my feet. He then would climb up on the chair with me and lick my tears and laid his head on my shoulder and stayed there for over two hours.
I think it is amazing how the compassion and love of these wonderful dogs is often unrecognized and under appreciated. He was a great comfort to me and as soon as I can do the paperwork and get approval, his status will change from forever foster to "failed foster" as we are going to formally adopt him and make him a permanent member of the pack.
There is no way I could let him go now.
Joan Stark, Ontario NY
As Heather L wrote to Joan, "What an end to a tragic year. I'm glad to hear how Beanie has grown and
been welcomed into your pack. What a gentle soul he is and he couldn't
have found a better home!! You are amazing!! Thank you for everything
you do! God has truly blessed you and your family."
