New Fosters Daisy and Winston
My husband went and picked up Winston and Daisy yesterday. He
spent most of the day with them getting to know them and making sure to
earn their trust. Today I've been with them all morning. They're
actually adjusting very well. Daisy had some accidents yesterday, but
I'm going to assume just from stress. Today we're accident free.
These two are such big cuddle bugs. They love attention. And don't
worry, Winston will definitely let you know if you're not giving him
enough (he's a big cry baby). He whimpers a lot and might need some help
with his manners. He loves to take the attention away from Daisy to
make sure he's getting it all. But he sure is a ham! You would never
guess he's 11! He has as much energy as my 2 year old Boston.
Daisy is
13 and is a little love bug. She likes to sleep a lot but when you have
to deal with Winston all day I don't blame her. Lol. I have some
concerns about her eyes.(But I'll leave that up to the vet) She is blind
in one eye and the other is very cloudy like a lot of older Bts. But
she gets around just fine. She loves her tennis ball as well! She's so
content just sitting there with a tennis ball in her mouth. She'll play
fetch too!
These two are definitely two peas in a pod.

Eileen says about her generosity: "My mom growing up, and to this day, she/we have always had a Boston Terrier, named Teddy. Yes, every dog has been named Teddy. I donated to your rescue before and then I started on holidays donating in honor of my mom. As she said, if I can't wear it or eat it, I don't want it! So I started ordering items off the wish list and donating them in my mom's name. Thank you for all the hard and wonderful work you do!"

Glory is Adopted
My one-eyed foster boy Glory is happily living in his new home, loved by all and behaving beautifully with his new family. He even has a blind Boston Terrier sister, with whom he is quickly bonding, they are even sleeping together, and he likes the new parks to which he is being introduced. His human brother and fiancee even drove down to meet him, all in the family! Glory has a wonderful new family, chosen from a record number of applicants, amazing for a seven year old, one eyed dog, with housebreaking issues. His new family is terrific, very dog savvy, caring adults with a nice home in the suburbs and a summer camp in the Catskills, so he'll have lots of fun new experiences.
Although sad for me to say goodbye, I am consoled knowing that he has such a great home. My resident BT beauty, Abigail, is pleased to have her human all to herself, which will probably end soon when a new foster BT arrives.

Chase is Here - You will Love Him!
Chase arrived at my BFF Conni's house around 1PM today. He is well adjusted and sweet as can be. He will be ready for a home with adults/teens very soon. He is just perfect.

A Beautiful Tribute to BT Owners from a wonderful NEBTR volunteer.....
I've seen a lot of sad news here lately- members with sick bostons, lost bostons and even bostons who are no longer with us. I just wanted to take a minute and let you know that I am thinking of you.
We lost our boston almost a year ago, and I still cry every single day. I miss him more than I can say. He was a huge personality. He could be so, SO naughty... but he was perfect. He would nip... but then come running back to "say" he was sorry. He would tease his brother, then come over for a kiss. He would tear up his toys one second, then be curled up for a snuggle the next minute.
He wasn't always good, but he was perfect. I wish I could say I was too. But I skipped walks when I was too cold. I was late getting home from work sometimes. I got frustrated. I yelled. But even still, he loved me more than anything. I wouldn't trade a minute of his sometimes crazy life for a million dollars, and I would cut off my left arm if I could have him back.
But I digress!!
YOU are all awesome. You dedicate so much of your time, your energy, your love and your money to these babies who have, in many cases, lived lives where they received very little of that. You give so tirelessly and freely of yourself and it is truly amazing. No matter how much you try... not every story will have a happy ending... but the fact that you all probably realize that and just keep doing it anyway? It just makes it even more inspiring.
It's still hard to even look at another boston, and even though Ivan hated most other dogs- I think he would approve of me wanting to give a little bit to try and better the life of another little bostie (though he might not admit it out loud). And it provides me a little glimmer of happiness in an otherwise heartbreaking year.
So for all of you managing heartache of your own- thank you. Thank you for giving so much of yourself and loving these kids so much that it hurts when something goes wrong. That you for making space in your homes, taking road trips to get to a boston in need, for spending time and money on vet bills and food, and ESPECIALLY for making space in your hearts for them. They need you and you are amazing. Your work is recognized, wonderful and so appreciated. Good karma points to you all!
The picture I attached is one of Ivan on his last birthday (the big 1-0). It make me smile, even when I am crying... and I hope it makes you smile too.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has a big boston shaped hole in it right now.... but that just means he was special, and that I was lucky to be his momma for the 10 years I had him
You are all wonderful.... sorry if I am mushy-gushy.... but I really am touched!

Spot Update
Spot's foster-mom checking in. He is an awesome, wonderful, happy, loving boy with us. Outside of the unfortunate habit of loving to roll in dead things, he is a lover and a pleasure to have in our home. He would make the right person a wonderful companion.
He is so handsome. And he's lucky to be safe and happy with you. Socializing, and even just being out and about with a fear aggressive dog can be so hard.
The deal-breaker so far has been his mistrust and fear in new places, with new people, and with different dogs. He can turn fear-aggressive in a moment when he's not feeling safe. It is also hard to take him to places where he can be socialized because other dogs and other people can be unpredictable, and I do not want to put him in a bad situation. So we've been protecting him and giving him lots of love and security at home.
He likes to swing-on and tug this hanging rubber dog ring in the yard. He likes to play with toys now and is a great happy BT when he's safe and secure.

I love when they roll in something stinky and then get sooooo mad at you for giving them a tubby and washing it away! It's like they're thinking HEY- I JUST got this nice smell, why are you getting rid of it???!!

Adoptable Pup Spotlight! ROSIE
Beautiful Rosie is 9-years-old and weighs about 16 pounds. She is a beautiful black and white Boston.
She is a smart girl that can follow commands - roll over, lay down, sit, high five. She is pretty active for a 9 year old!
She is a little girly girl that loves to dress up. She has a great wardrobe . A lady also does not leave the house without her nails done. Pink is her favorite color.
She loves to play with her balls and ropes. She does have a habit of barking when she wants to play. This may be a problem if someone lives in an apartment.
Rosie does need to be fed special food due to IBD, but it really doesn't affect her health, and she is completely housetrained.
We have recently noticed that she could do without having a puppy in the house. She gets along fine with her older dog brothers, but the puppy energy seems to annoy her. She is not the most cuddly BT, but she does love the attention of her humans. She loves people and when on an outing she is a true lady. She does not pull on a leash and behaves wonderfully. She has no problems with kids, but is on the small side and might do better with older kids who know how to handle her properly.
