Update on Dash

Hi everyone, good news, Dash is healed well enough to have had his cast removed! One of the bones is healing well, and there is a lot of new healing growth. The other bone is not coming along as quickly, but with time it should not need surgery yay! Dash is on a physical therapy regimen at home, and still on restricted activity. But its healing! We did not remove his lump at this time, and have chosen to monitor it instead. It will be several weeks before Dash can run free and unrestricted, but hey, that's better than surgery!

Update on Foster Benji

I wanted to give everyone an update on my first foster Benji. I have had Benji for about a month now. We he first arrived he had a nasty eye infection. He saw the vet who diagnosed him with dry eye as well as an eye infection. She feels that he is probably closer to 13 years old rather than the 8 I was expecting. You can probably see from his photos that he is very grey in the face and legs. He has bad teeth and will be going for a dental cleaning and probable extraction this month. He was placed on a oral antibiotic and two eye ointments to treat the dry eye and infection.

My mother in law has been staying with us to care for Benji. On nice days they spend hours outside and he loves to roll in the grass and smell the air. He also loves to go for car rides.

He appears to really love people and food. I suspect he will be perfect for an older person with no other dogs.

He is overweight at 27 pounds. 27 pounds may not sound like much if you are accustomed to the bigger Bostons but he is short and compact so he resembles a meatball with legs. At the vets suggestion he was been receiving 1/4 cup of dog food twice a day with canned pumpkin.

He is looking healthier and has more energy than when he first arrived.

Thank you,

New Foster, Pearl

Meet new foster Pearl, she's a ten year old beauty who came into foster at the end of September. Her former family is expecting twins so decided that they would not have time for Pearl.

New Foster Courtney

Please meet new foster Courtney. Her family was heartbroken to give her up. They lost everything recently due to the economy and are living with family and the family said she must go. Her daddy would walk her for hours outside the home just so he didnt have to part with her yet. They stumbled on an NEBTR volunteer today on the streets of NYC....literally...and were so thrilled to find a good place for her. Our wonderful foster home took her home with her. We will be spaying her and she should be available soon!
