Update on Belle's Surgery
Belle had her double luxating patella surgery today and everything went as planned and she came through like a champ. She is really hopped up on some heavy drugs and still waking up but she should be just fine. Tonight she'll be sleeping at the vet's office so they can continue to monitor her overnight but tomorrow she'll be back at her foster home resting and recuperating for the next six to twelve weeks. We'll make sure you get updates along the way. Thank you to anyone who donated to this life changing surgery; it's not too late to still contribute.

The Storm
They were together in the House.
Just the two of them.
It was a cold, dark, stormy night. The storm had come quickly and each time the thunder boomed he watched her jump.
She looked across the room and admired his strong appearance....and wished that he would take her in his arms, comfort her and protect her from the storm.
Suddenly, with a pop, the power went out.... She screamed..
He raced to the sofa where she was cowering.
He didn't hesitate to pull her into his arms.
He knew this was a forbidden union and expected her to pull back.
He was surprised when she didn't resist but instead clung to him.
The storm raged on....
They knew it was wrong...
Their families would never understand... So consumed were
they in their FEAR that they heard no opening of doors...
just the faint click of a camera.......

For All Who Rescue
"If Not For You" - Author Unknown
I would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life
if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear
if not for your gentle hands.
I would have left this life believing
that all humans don't care,
Believing there is no such thing
as fur that isn't matted,
skin that isn't flea bitten,
good food and enough of it,
beds to sleep on,
someone to love me, to show me
I deserve love just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile,
your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me...
You saved me from
the terror of the pound,
soothing away the
memories of my old life.
You have taught me
what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same
for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself
in times of despair why you do it
when there is no more money,
no more room, no more homes.
You open your heart a little bigger,
stretch the money a little tighter,
make just a little more room...
to save one more like me.
I tell you with the gratitude
and love that shines in my eyes
In the best way I know how-
Reminding you why you go on trying.
I am the reason.
The dogs before me are the reason,
as are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted,
our love never given.
We would die if not for you.
