Lang Syne, Now Piper, is Adopted

Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?
Lang Syne was adopted Saturday, by a most wonderful family. Lang Syne's
new name is Piper. It suits her very well. :)

She will never want for anything ever again. She is now where she
should have been all along.

Lang Syne Having Fun

Lang is really getting the hang of the princess lifestyle! :)

As a footnote to my previous posting about the princess lifestyle that
Lang is getting used to.....I stepped out of the room to send an email
just now...I heard this odd noise. When I went to check on where the
noise was coming from, I found Lang Syne pulling her crate over to the
sofa! I don't know how she planned on getting THAT on the sofa! lol

Lang Syne Loves Life

Here is an update on little Lang Syne. She is the 7 year old mill momma
that came to NEBTR on New Year's Eve.

She just got her spay stitches out, and she has a clean bill of health
from the vet.

She's beginning to understand that life can be great. She's learning
that chewing on a chew stick is fun, balls bounce, and other dogs in the
house aren't always a bad thing. She is still working on house
training, but we haven't had any accidents for a few days. (yeah!)
She still hides 50% of her treats, but that's down from 100%. She's
gained a whole pound from day one, and she's looking good. She's a
whopping 16 pounds now.

She's a cuddler and a kisser, and every morning when we greet her she
does a happy dance for us. :)

You can't help but love a dog that is so grateful for every little thing
you offer.

Lang Syne is on the Mend

Lang had her spay and 2 teeth removed. She's on the mend, and soon she
will be even better than her old self, since those bad teeth are gone,
and no more tarter on her back teeth!

She was happy to see that her cow, and yellow toy were waiting for her
on her pink blanket. She snuggled right up next to them when she got home.

Lang likes her Toy!

Lang Syne never had a toy before. She picked up one of the many toys I 
have around the house yesterday, but quickly put it down.
Today she picked up a yellow tuggie, the one in her welcome packet. 
She carried it off to another room and she PLAYED with it!
I was thrilled to see this. I tried to play with her, but she isn't 
that progressed with play yet, that might come later.


Thank you SO much for all the new foster donations that got
that toy to Lang Syne!

Thanks to everyone who sends us donations and Wishlist items for our new foster welcome packets!!!

Lang Syne has never had a toy before, and when I offered her a pizzle, she just let it fall to the floor. But when the welcome packet came with Greenies in it, she went crazy. She keeps it hidden in her dog bed, and checks on it every so often. Thanks so much for sending out the welcome packets, Stacie....they are very much appreciated! :)

Lang Syne the Pack Rat

Such a funny little dog. I swear a more appropriate name for her would
be "Pack Rat." I had her with me this morning while cleaning up the
kitchen. She sleeps in a covered crate at night, and goes in there
sometimes to nap. She is very particular on how the blankets are
arranged, and I often find her in the crate doing some redecorating with
the blankets.
This afternoon I looked in the crate, and found a toy that she had shown
no interest in earlier, my dusting mop and a dog dish! So funny!

She's a sweetie.

I love that!!  It reminds me of my foster Puka who was a great collector of things!  She would make a new pile (we called a nest) every morning with various things from around the house and lay right in the middle.  Enjoy that Lang - Syne girl.

That is so funny! But how sweet. When I first got my Sadie ( mill momma), she would take everything to her crate, but mostly my shoes. It is so funny, isn't it. I get the shoes, as they probably smell like me; do you think she is telling you she'd like to help you clean???

New Foster Lang Syne

With the help of Shannon Gentile, I just picked up the last foster dog of 2014 for NEBTR.  She's a 7 year old mill dog, and she will start out 2015 with an entirely new life.  She's a tiny girl, with a cute under-bite, and sometimes she shows off her too toofers in the front.  Just adorable!  Everything is new to her, but she likes people, so this transition to her new life is off to a great start.

 I wanted to pick a name that let everyone know she's a new years eve dog.  So I named her Lang Syne.
I looked up the meaning of the song and thought it was interesting.  Here is the meaning behind "Auld Lang Syne."

The 'Auld Lang Syne' lyrics and words were written by poet Robert Burns, and first published in 1787.
The words 'Auld Lang Syne' literally translates from old Scottish dialect meaning 'Old Long Ago' and is about love and friendship in times past.
The song begins by posing a rhetorical question as to whether it is right that old times be forgotten, and is generally interpreted as a call to remember long-standing friendships.  Should old acquaintances be forgotten?  Heck no!

The Meaning of 'Auld' is "Old" and the meaning of 'Lang Syne ' is "Long Since". The lyrics "We'll take a cup o' kindness yet" refers to the tradition of raising a glass, or a cup o' kindness meaning with "good will, friendship and kind regard" and in remembrance of "noble deeds.".
