A Gift in Memory of Kira

kira_thumb[1]

Thanks to Diane Laudani, Kira’s Foster Mom, for the special gift she made to NEBTR in Memory of her darling foster, Kira.  This gift will certainly help other Bostons in need, just as you helped Kira.

My Sweet Kira

Diane Laudani and her family are heartbroken over the passing of beautiful Kira.  She was one of the “PA mill dogs,” and her sweetness was legendary.

“The PA dogs" were some of the most special we have ever rescued.  And their foster homes, like Diane and Joy with Cal, (Kira was his Mom), and Julie Klam whose boy inspired her most famous book "You Had Me at Woof", could not part with them again.  I think you all agree that they brought you more joy than you could ever repay to them.  But, we are so proud of everything you gave to Kira.  She will live forever in your heart, Diane.

Linda Antonelli, Diane’s mentor, is a rescue angel, and you made a lovely team together for Kira.

Diane wrote, “I want to thank the NEBTR directors for giving me the opportunity to foster this beautiful soul. My life is forever changed because of her.

And I never would have been able to do it without my mentor, Linda Antonelli, who held my hand throughout each trauma. She is an incredibly valuable member of this group.”

Here are some other group messages to Diane:

Diane, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how much you loved her and I am so sure she did too.

What a sweet angel xoxo

Diane,
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Kira.  The pictures show that she was very loved.
It is obvious that you gave her a wonderful life and she gave you a loving friendship.

Oh Diane, I am SO sorry.  I too have had my life blessed with a PA puppy.  Cal thanks you for taking such good care of his Mom.

XO

Joy and Cal

Your dedication and love to Sweet Kira is legend here at NEBTR.  So many times you thought you were losing her and she rallied to spend more time in your loving care.  Thank you from all of us for giving Kira the most wonderful time of her whole life with you.

Goodby, Sweet Kira

We are sad to say that our Hospice foster Kira has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Please read the sweet note from her family "My family & I are heartbroken over the passing from bone cancer of our sweet Kira. She was truly an incredibly strong spirit who came back from many adversities in these last two and a half years. She came to NEBTR from the "PA dogs" and her sweetness is legendary. Kira became my personal shadow, always giving me more comfort than I could ever give her. I will never forget her dances at mealtime, her sweet kisses and expressive eyes. Kira has left a huge void in our home and hearts." We will miss you Kira.

Celebrating Kira, Nitro and Zackie

Hooray for the seniors!  Betsey Freedman has featured three of them in her beautiful calendar, which can be purchased from a link off our main page.

Congratulations to Nitro, who is fostered by Lisa Vaughan; Zackie, who is fostered by Dawn Stone; and Kira, who is fostered by Diane Laudani.

A special thanks to these three foster moms, who have opened their hearts and homes to these beautiful seniors.  We cannot thank you enough!

Diane writes,
"Betsey,

The calendar is wonderful. Some of the expressions just make me have to smile. But my favorite, of course, is Kira. This photo truly shows what a wonderful soul this mama has.

Thanks so much,
Diane"

Update on Kira

Linda Antonelli is helping me foster Sparkira (we call her Kira) since she is my first. She had a tough time with her mastectomy (she had a tumor) and spaying. But she's doing great now. Kira is a super sweet girl who never forgets to remind us everyday when feeding time is close. She does a funny dance that is part meringue and part waltz. My family is very happy to have her here. I've enclosed a photo.

Foster Kira

Kira's foster mom Linda Antonelli wanted to express thanks to everyone who transported. A special thanks to Denise who brought her to Linda's house.

Linda says that Kira a little tank and very sweet. She made herself at home and socialized beautifully with her dogs. Linda said there were so many BTs there, the others didn't notice she was the new one (lol).

After Kira got settled, Linda sent in another report and more photos.  She writes, "The first picture is my friend Joanne's room. Who could have a better friend. This is how she sleeps at any given time.
The second picture is Sparkira in my den under the covers as I type. That's Ziggy behind her completely burrowed. The third picture is Sparkira laying on my little coffee table in the pet sitting room after I stripped the bed and put the pillows with no pillow cases on the table while I find clean sheets and pillow cases.

Priceless."
