New Foster, Boo Boo

Strausie Stephens welcomes new foster, Boo Boo, into her home; more information to come.

Thank you, Strausie, for fostering this good looking pup.

New Foster, Augie

Welcome to Augie! He is here! He is very nervous as expected but settled once we could get him out of the car. He did enjoy exploring the new room and bathroom. He ate and drank. He went outside and pottied on the leash. Enough for one night. More news to come. And he is adorable.

Thank you, Gale Vensoulus for fostering him.

Update on Niko, Now Oliver

Niko now Oliver was adopted by the Justino family back in Feb. It has been 6 months since his gotch date . Here is what his mom has to say:
“Oliver is doing super!  He is SO funny and such a riot.  Him and Major are best friends and brothers.  They love chasing each other and playing tug, but they also love snuggling next to one another and teaming up against my sister's and parents dogs!  I attached some photos!  Thanks again for fostering him.  If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have this amazing addition to our family
Sincerely,
Amanda Justino”
We are so happy for them all.

Happy 4th Gotcha Day Buster and Lady

busterandlady2013

Another year has passed, and we're celebrating the 4th anniversary of adopting Buster and Lady!  They really are a great and fun addition to our family, even though they drive me nuts sometimes.

Overall, they're doing well, but I can tell that they're senior dogs and are starting to show some age-related problems.  In the last year, Lady has injured her shoulder a few times after playing too hard, and the recurring soft tissue injury requires her to be on confinement for a certain amount of time.  Naturally she can't stand that, and gets upset with me because she's not allowed to play and has to rest.  She still has an insane passion for balls, sticks, frisbees, and anything else that can be chased, but she does tire out a little faster sometimes, and I think she might be developing some minor arthritis in her joints.  Buster's been suffering from periodic flare ups of a pinched nerve in his neck, and when he has problems we have to put his doggy neck brace (that our vet showed us how to make using a towel - it's pretty neat!) to help stabilize things so he can get some relief.

Buster's still as snuggly as ever, and like I said earlier Lady still enjoys playing!  They love to go for car rides, sleep, bark at the neighborhood dogs and assorted wildlife, eat, and come to us for a good scratch behind the ears.  They're much better about leaving Judith's toys alone, but they're not as good about leaving her food alone.  Buster in particular will follow Judith around anywhere if she has food in her hands, and she's also prone to toss him things because she thinks it's funny (we're working on that with both of them, and this is the major reason why she doesn't get anything that could be toxic to them unless they're in a separate room).  I am very pleased that they are tolerant with her, and patient with me as I work with Judith to treat them with respect.

We truly enjoy having them as a part of our family, and are blessed to have 2 great dogs!
Happy Gotcha Day, Buster and Lady!

Update on Star

Star and Piper

Star was adopted by my sister and her boyfriend a few weeks ago.  She is a little Boston in disguise!  She has an older sister named Piper who is an American Bulldog.  Piper has welcomed Star with open paws and the two are getting along great.  Melissa and Eric call Star "Mini P" since she looks so much like Piper.  Melissa sent me the following message along with the attached photo:
"Star waiting for her first solo adventure with Dad. They're dropping the camper in Loudon for some NASCAR action this weekend then off to her first day at work at the brewery. No sampling for her, she'll be busy greeting vendors and keeping the crew company on breaks!"

GNO

I can't help but crack up at my sister and her Facebook posts about Star and her fur sister Piper!  I woke up this morning to this photo and Melissa's caption:
"Girls night out...they better be home by midnight...with the car!"
We're heading to NH next week before our move to Kwajalein Atoll.. can't wait to see the family and see Starbie Barbie girl!  We miss her but we're so glad she's found an awesome home with my sister and her boyfriend!

Mandy has become a very happy and sweet girl with me! She stays out of her crate now and has her spot she retreats to under an end table in the living room.  I actually have to make her go in the crate when I'm leaving or going to bed! But it's now out of the kitchen and next to Ozzy in the dining room.  She has even started coming up on the couch and will sit with me.  She has become very playful with my 2 boys.  But poor thing will throw up if she eats or drinks and does too much moving around.  She has been on meds for UTI and high PH levels so really hoping that this 4th urinalysis will be good!
Only problem is her extreme fear of anyone else, she won't even give them a chance. She still won't go near Jeff and her fun stops when he gets home :( She has started barking and growling at my mom and sister when they come over as she gets more brave.  But I am thrilled with her progress with me and I will keep at it with socialization so she can find her home.  Considering the condition she was in when I got her, it is amazing to see her now :)
Attached a video of her and Ozzy playing bity face and some pics.

Update on Matilda

Hello All at NEBTR!
Just wanted to give an update on my Matilda-whirl. She is doing great! She just celebrated her 7th birthday with her cousins on July 9th. She wore her party hat but didn't feel the same way about her friends wearing them, she might have took them off of them and tore them up! No hard feelings. Matilda has been such a light in my life and I'm not sure what I ever did without her. We're even adapting each others facial expressions, although I really can't get away with the big ginormous smile and tongue hanging out yet. She's one of the funniest dogs I know, and craziest. Although, it's hot now and we stay inside more than we're out, we've taken up running together and through that she's been my number 1 supporter in my weight loss journey. I just had her to the vet for some vaccinations and she does very well but needs to hide her face in my arm when the needle comes. They heard a faint heart murmur this time, which is new but did not seem overly concerned and said they will keep track of it. I would have never known, as Matilda has not skipped a beat and is the same happy dog day in and day out. She also has a growth on her gum, which we will be getting removed within the next month. Once again, they did not seem concerned but I am keeping a close eye on it. Anyway, I couldn't be happier with my best friend and companion. She truly has changed my life and made a little bit Boston obsessed.
Thank you again,
Beth

Matilda was adopted 4 years ago.   Elly Monfett was the wonderful foster Mom who found the perfect forever home for Matilda!

House training is going well (sure hope I don't jinx it with this
posting, lol).
Looks like he's one of the group now. Just taking an afternoon nap with
the boys. :)

Spike had his vet visit today to get the vaccines he needed.  It was just a vet-tec that administered the shot, so it wasn't a big deal.  The exciting part of the visit was when I asked the vet-tec to weigh Spike.  He was 12.5 pounds on July 6th.....ten days later, today,  Spike is 15.5 pounds!   He's chunkin' UP!  :)

Spike is cuddled up next to a foster sibling. First time this has
happened! :) He's learning that sharing can be fun.
