Denice's Transformations

It has been less than 6 months now since NEBTR entrusted me with my first foster dog Tigger, 2 days before Christmas.  When I just updated Puka's addendum, I almost missed how amazingly these dogs transformed in such a short time.  See if you can tell the before and after pictures!

"Spook" Puka was picked up from Jersey City on May 3rd dirty, frail, timid and wobbly.  I remember writing to the group because on day 2 she still would not eat, leave her bed, play, or walk much.  Her posture was weak and her back legs curved under and seemed almost wasting from disuse.  She didn't know how to play with toys or interact with my other dogs.  Now, she has filled out and runs with leaps and bounds through the back yard, and runs to the toy bin to grab a toy even before she goes out in the morning.  You would never believe this vibrant happy girl was ever such a poor sad soul only 1 month ago!  I can't believe she may be going to a furever home in Pittsburgh next week already!

Wrigley came on March 9th, so skinny his head looked huge, dirty, and sad from a home in Queens.  He was the sweetest boy ever, even from the drive home, but unneutered, and all he thought about was humping.  He is now the happiest, goofiest, playful little instigator who has filled out beautifully, and is the joy of my mother's life right now.  I bring him over for play dates whenever I can just because he's such a fun boy to have around.

Tigger came from Brooklyn on December 23rd uncivilized and lifting his leg everywhere-even on his transporters and in the car.  He was a young Tasmanian Devil type nut-job, but a diamond in the rough.  We couldn't let him go-adoption came soon after his first visit to a potential adoption family...  Now, he is guiding and helping my new fosters, and doing an obedient sit-stay in the middle of a crew of distracting fellow Bostons.  He is a Love!!!!

I am soooo happy to have been able to play even a little part in improving the lives of these poor, lost souls. This is a great and very rewarding volunteer and rescue program to be a part of, and I never knew how rewarding it was to provide such a simple act of charity in dog rescue.

Denice; I told you before and I’ll say it again, you are awesome. These dogs are not turning themselves around, they need love, care and much needed attention. Not one but 3 in 6 months is terrific and the foster moms in this group that do that year over year will tell you its not easy. So to you and to all the foster moms in this group, Rock On!!

Wrigley Update

The most handsome Wrigley is living the life of a king these days in his furever home with my mother.  He seems to have gotten better-looking each day, and he is known to all in his neighborhood.  He's doing great, just wanted to share his handsome pose, and the good report.  Denice, Jackson, NJ

Wrigley is Adopted!

My sweet Wrigley, aka Mr. Wriggles, went to his forever home with my mother Helen Carter  today!  Wrigley is her family/maiden name, and it was a match made in Heaven!  He is such a wonderful, easy, loving sweet boy, and he is right at home in her place with his new cat-brother Apollo.  Best thing is, he's only about a mile away, and I can run and grab him any time I need a Wrigley "fix", which may be often.  Happiness all around!

Wrigley Gets His Cuddle On

Mr. Wriggles is learning the fine art of the snuggle, I love it!  He has come a long way, as this was not something he was comfortable with a few weeks ago when we got him.
My husband is a sucker for the NEBTR boys Wrigley in his lap and Tigger, standing by...

More on New Foster Wrigley

Wrigley has quickly learned the fine art of sun bathing over the week!  (left to right my Dolly, foster failure Tigger-less than 3 months in, my Lola, and our new guy Wrigley).  He received a clean bill of health at the vet yesterday, and most eagerly awaits neutering (at least I eagerly await it!!!).

Wrigley is sweet and gentle and good with people, dogs, and cats.  He hasn't had ANY accidents in the house since arriving last week-even being unneutered.   He is moderate energy dog, and will make anyone a most AWESOME pet.  He's got silly googley eyes, droopy jowls, freckles, and is just cute as a button.  I'm hoping he gets a wonderful home that he deserves quickly after he is fixed and recovered.

He was separated in kitchen for 5 days, then I realized this caused more stress and anxiety in all my dogs, so I found with supervised controlled introductions, it would not be a problem to cohort him in the house.  All the animals are now less stressed co-mingling.  At night or when we're out, he (and Tigger) are crated without any problems.  We keep working together.

Wrigley - One Week in foster care....

Wrigley is sweet and gentle and good with people, dogs, and cats.  He hasn't had ANY accidents in the house since arriving last week-even being unneutered.  He does, however, harasses my Lola at times with humping whenever possible.  He is moderate energy dog, and will make anyone a most AWESOME pet.  He's got silly googley eyes, droopy jowls, freckles, and is just cute as a button.  I'm hoping he gets a wonderful home that he deserves quickly after he is fixed and recovered.

New Foster Wrigley

Our boy is so good and sweet.  Yesterday was our first full day with him.  He is completely housebroken, eating and drinking avidly (he's so thin).  He seeks company, and doesn't care for being alone in the kitchen area.  I think with the neutering and hormone changes, he'll be a delight with my other doggies.

He doesn't really know how to play, so I am working to engage him in fun and silliness.  Wrigley deserves to enjoy these two basic components of being a Boston-play and affection.  I hope he'll blossom to enjoy all the daily pleasures of life.  He is an awesome gentle, adorable, sweet spirit.

Denice

He's so lucky to have you!

Meet new foster Wrigley

Wrigley just in from Queens, NY.  Family's new baby had allergy, so he had to be surrendered.
He is a sweet, handsome, good 6-1/2 year old boy.  Already had a good walk, warm bath, nail clipping, and a nice meal of his previous food brand mixed with some shredded chicken.  He ate heartily after being here for about 2 hours and settling in.
He's in our kitchen for now, and is eager to meet my resident dogs through the gate. There are no signs of aggression.  My nosey cat has no respect for boundaries, and had to come right up to meet him face-to-face, which went fine.
He jumped up on my leg for attention, when I bent down, he gave me lots of kooky-nibbly goofy kisses.  I think we'll be good :) - paws crossed!

Wish us luck!

Look at his first photo op - handsome boy!
