Hero Mom

During an early morning response to a house fire in Santa Rose de Temuco , Chile , firefighters witnessed the unbelievable. A mother dog risked her life to save her puppies from the fire surrounding the burning house,
which started because of a car bomb.

The mother dog, Amanda, raced back and forth between the house, putting her 10 day old puppies in the safest place she could find - a firetruck!

She didn't stop racing back into the fire until all of her puppies were safely away from the fire. The firemen on scene could not believe their eyes. Most people have never seen a dog this smart or this brave!

After rescuing all of her pups from the blaze, Amanda sat down next to them, protecting them with her body. Onlookers called an emergency veterinary service and she and her pups were rushed to the hospital.
Aside from one puppy being treated for serious burns, the entire family are alive and well - thanks to the bravery of Amanda! What a heroic mother! :)

Miss Daisy

Just relaxing after a delicious dinner of Merrick's Thanksgiving canned dinner :)

Daisy is a 17 petite little girl at just under 18 pounds, and was surrendered by a back yard breeder in November 2012. She was kept in an outdoor pen as a breeder, and has had four litters in five years. This sweet little girl has had a hard life, and is more than ready to spend the rest of her years with a loving family in a warm home. She is learning new things every day, like how to play with toys, get along with other dogs and cats, and snuggle in her fluffy doggy bed. She also is quickly adapting to housebreaking, and will now "sit" for treats! Daisy is wary of new dogs, especially females, but has learned to make friends in her foster home. She is currently staying with one female pug mix, two male boston terriers, and three cats.

Thanks so much to Erin Sullivan for opening her home and heart to this beautiful girl!

Celebrating Kira, Nitro and Zackie

Hooray for the seniors!  Betsey Freedman has featured three of them in her beautiful calendar, which can be purchased from a link off our main page.

Congratulations to Nitro, who is fostered by Lisa Vaughan; Zackie, who is fostered by Dawn Stone; and Kira, who is fostered by Diane Laudani.

A special thanks to these three foster moms, who have opened their hearts and homes to these beautiful seniors.  We cannot thank you enough!

Diane writes,
"Betsey,

The calendar is wonderful. Some of the expressions just make me have to smile. But my favorite, of course, is Kira. This photo truly shows what a wonderful soul this mama has.

Thanks so much,
Diane"

Pearl is Adopted

My lil old girl Pearl who was 11 years old got a furever home this past friday night. She came into my home of already 5 fur babies and got along so well. She is such a precious lil girl. I took her to a big pet event we have here in Altoona and that's where we found the nicest couple who love to adopt senior Bostons. They filled out all the paperwork right away.  I did the home check. They brought their Boston Chief down to meet her and ended up getting her Friday. I am so happy for her but my heart aches for her also, Yes I always fall in love with my fosters, But I know she is going to be so happy....and that makes my heart Happy.

Christine Schezzini

Congratulations, Chris.  The seniors tug at all our hearts and it's always wonderful that there are people out there who feel the same and want to adopt them.

Thank you for helping her find them.

Cheers,
