Dante is Adopted

Hi all-
Vicki and I met Ira Wasserman and his 15-year-old son, Andrew on the Garden State Parkway early Sunday morning; they were anxious to meet Dante, Carrie Cranmer's foster boy. Some of you may know that we took Dante so that Carrie could get married and have her honeymoon in Costa Rica without worrying about him. Dante spent six nights with us in Moorestown, and has now been adopted by the Wassermans of Monroe, NY. As you can see by the photos here, they are very pleased to have him. Ira Wasserman told me they'd adopted from us years ago, and wanted to get another BT from us when they lost their previous dog to a stomach issue at age 8. Although his application has been active with us for several months, his kids were not ready to consider adopting until now.
We wish the Wassermans well with Dante!

Foster Dante

Dante has settled in nicely in his foster home, and has made himself right at home!  He is quite the snuggler and will lay on one side of me with his head on my lap while my resident girl is on the other.  He was a little slow adjusting to my male lab, a little growly and nippy with him, but he seems to get better every day.  His vet visit was great, no issues at all and every day he is getting better in his crate.  Here are a few more pics of him...

Foster Gift Packages

Thanks so much to Stacie Kyle for putting together some gifts to our new fostesrs. The wonderful gifts came from Erin Sullivan, who donated a boxful of awesome dog items and some of our FB folks, including Ryan  Messatzzia, who have sent in and donated items. Loving the halter and bandana on Dante.... he looks very happy, foster mama....:)

More Dante - More Cuteness

Dante is a pretty tall little guy, trying to get a good picture of him to show how long his legs are, but no luck yet.  Here are some other pictures of him and his cuteness! We have a vet appt on Wed to check out reports of crystals in his urine, so we will see what they say about that.  Other than that, he seems like a young, energetic loving boy.  He likes the yard, but I think he would do OK on daily walks and trips to a dog park as he seems to just want to go do his business and come right back in. We have been working on crate training, and he is petty good, but has his moments of barking-he is fine when we are in the room and he is in the crate, and when we go to bed, but other times he whines a bit-he does like to be around people we are seeing.  Will update more after his vet appt.

Update on new foster Dante

I wanted to write a little bit more about Dante and include a picture too!  His paperwork claims he does not do well in a crate, but we put the crate in our living room where he could see us and our other dogs and at first there was some whining and barking, but last night and this morning he went in without a peep, and seems to enjoy it.  He does need to work on his manners, as he is very "jumpy" but I think we can calm him down. Overall he seems to be a very good boy that just needs some guidance. He lived with another dog and young children and he is reportedly good with cats.  His paperwork says he is about a year and a half, so he is still an energetic puppy! Here is a pic i just took, he loves tennis balls....

New Foster Dante

Dante came to NEBTR from the Chester County SPCA.  Thanks so much to Jerrilyn for being so vigilant in getting him from the shelter, to Jackie for pulling him, and to Carrie Cranmer, for opening her heart and home to him.

Carrie says, "He is a very tall, bigger boy and he likes to stand on his back legs and hop around; it's very cute. He doesn't seem to have any training at all, so we will work on that as well as crate training. We put the crate in our living room where he could see us and our other dogs and at first there was some whining and barking, but last night and this morning he went in without a peep, and seems to enjoy it.  He does need to work on his manners, as he is very "jumpy" but I think we can calm him down.
