Mac, Formerly Zeke, In His Forever Home

I just heard from Curtis Brand, the family that adopted Mac and he is doing fantastic. Living the life of leisure. Zeke now Mac was my very first foster who lost an eye in the process. My heart is singing right now. I love happy endings.

Update on Zeke

I got a wonderful surprise today when Curt Brand called me to let me know how Zeke is doing. If you remember he was my Puppy Mill boy who had no social skills and did not even know how to play. Curt told me that their other 2 dogs have taught him how to play and he is having a ball. They call him “Mac” now and they just love him and he is fitting in with their other 2 beautifully. I
am so happy for him and my heart just wants to burst. Thank you Curt, for the call. It made my day!

That's just fabulous Sandy, thanks for sharing.

Zeke in His Forever Home

Zeke (green collar) was just adopted. Looks like he's going to get along just fine with his new sister.

Zeke is Adopted

ZEKE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  His new family is just awesome and he got to meet his new sisters, a pointer mix and a little BT puppy 9 mos. Old. We went on a pack walk first thing and Zeke fit right in after I handed Curt the leash. He walked all 3 dogs together and he was very happy with the result.

Thank you all so much for giving me this awesome first time experience. I miss him already but I am also elated that he has a wonderful family and home.

Great news Sandy!   Congratulations on finding Zeke the perfect forever home. :)

Zeke Says Thanks for the Gifts

Hello all,

Zeke just wanted to send a big Woof Woof out to Lauren Zysling for the Benebone bacon and Zuke’s Mini Naturals (these are truly delicious) and to Ellen Thelin for the PetSafe Reflective Easy Walk Dog Harness and Leash and the Loving Pets Diner.  He loves them all and can’t wait until after his dental work to tear into that Benebone.  Thanks to everyone for all of his wonderful gifts. He will have much luggage when he goes off to his forever home.

Zeke Gets His ECollar Off

Hi Everyone,

Zeke got his E-Collar off today after 2 long weeks and boy does he look good. Now he can sleep with his face right into his nice new bed just the way he likes it! Thank you to everyone who kept him in your thoughts and prayers.  Now it is on to neuter and dental work all scheduled for next Thursday, 4/30.

Zeke Says Thanks

Zeke wants to thank Nicole Pinto and Stacie Palmer for the wonderful treats and the yellow duckie and the anonymous donor of the beautiful bed. (He loves to hide his face when sleeping). He says Woof Woof to all

Zeke checked out his gifts: Wellness soft chews from Nicole Pinto, Yellow Duckie & nyla bone, chew sticks, from Stacie Palmer, the bed did not have a name with it so I do not know who sent that. As you can
see Zeke loves all his gifts. He finally fell asleep in his bed.
Thank you to NEBTR for all his precious gifts.

Zeke's Progress

Hello,

Zeke is an amazing little boy for a puppy mill dog. He is functioning very well with just his right eye and the swelling around the left eye, which was removed on April 10th, is about down to normal. He is a very happy boy and loves going outside and lying in the sun. He goes into his kennel all by himself whenever he wants to nap. I leave the door open so he can go in and out when he wants to. If I have to go out and when I go to bed, he needs some coaxing but he does go in easily.

And the biggest thing of all …… HE GOES OUTSIDE TO POTTY!!!  He has not had an “accident” in the house in about 1 week now. He does still have a belly band on when he is in the house. When he is done going outside he comes running to me hopping around very proud of himself. He has also learned “come here”, “sit” and “off”. He learns very quickly and seems to enjoy our little sessions which I keep to about 10 to 15 minutes.  Zeke is also learning patience. He started out trying to get my pets food and treats. He has learned to wait his turn. Sometimes he will attempt to grab but one look from me and he stops. This Friday he gets his cone off and then I will schedule his neuter and dental work. All in all I am very pleased with his progress.

Regards,

Sandy

Sandy, what a great update!  It sounds like he's settling in very nicely, learning some things and feeling pretty good.  Thanks so much for taking such good care of him.

Zeke Catches Some Rays

Took these this morning. Caught Zeke catching some rays on the back deck and my IG decided to join him. They laid out there for about 20 mins. and then came looking for me (they have to know where I am). It was so cute.

Zeke Medical Update

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I’d give you an update on puppy mill dog Zeke. He came thru his surgery with flying colors and now his real energy is shining through. He loves to run around as I chase him and you can just see the joy in him as he thinks it is a game then he flops over to get belly rubs. He is getting along with my 3 and they are accepting of him. (Except for the eye) It has been a great experience so far. I think once the cone comes off he and my Sadie (BT mix) will be friends. They spend a lot of time following each other around. I’ve included a couple of pictures just taken this AM.

Zeke Has Eye Surgery and Says Thanks for the Easter Basket

Hi everyone,

I thought I would share my story of Zeke and his eye surgery. I am a new Foster for NEBTR and Zeke is my first BT foster. That being said, I was unaware of the seriousness of a grey spot on the left eye. Consequently the eye got to a point very quickly (3 days) where it had to be removed. My Vet. Hosp. cal led around on Friday and got him into Cornell Companion Animal Hosp. and I took him there Friday morning. We arrived about 2pm and I had to leave him there. I went back this morning g to get him.  Please take all eye issues seriously and if your BT shows anything out of the ordinary on or in the eye, get him/her to the Vet. right sway. I got Zeke on Monday 4/6/15. He is a rescue from an Amish puppy mill and he is 8 years old. I’ve included some pictures of me and Zeke just taken a few mins. ago. I don’t know how many of you have had to deal with eye issues or nose issues but I would love to know your stories.  This was a very difficult lesson for me because Zeke lost an eye.  He is a very special little boy with a very sweet personality. He will be a great pet for someone once we have completed taking care of his other medical issues.

Thank you,

Sandy

P.S. these pics were taken with his Easter Basket and an additional gift he just received today from Chris.. Zeke and I say Thank you Chris.

Zeke Says Thanks for the Easter Basket

Add my thanks for Zeke’s Easter basket. He really enjoyed the cookies. The hard chews will have to wait ‘til after his dental.

Again, Thank you so much.
