Boo In His Forever Home

Here's an update from BooBoo's , now Boo, new forever momma. It's been 1 whole month since he was adopted!!

"Boo has adjusted so well being with us it's like we have always had him. He loves to go on long walks and explore and has mastered the art of relaxation. Boo loves to cuddle with everyone, he is such a people dog. We love him to pieces and are very lucky to have him in our family. He is a wonderful dog. We love him so much I should have named him shadow because he is mine. Anywhere I go he goes lol"

Love hearing that he is doing so well!! She also sent me some pics to share with the group.

Thanks!
Christine M

Hercules Barks a Big Thanks

Hercules/Herschel was so surprised and delighted to find out this morning that he is the recipient of NEBTR's generosity from the extra donations that foster Zoey generated.  He also hopes that Zoey is recovering quickly from her C-section so she can enjoy a happy retirement in a loving home.
He's not allowed to beg at table, but it is the only way to get a somewhat decent picture: he's camera shy.

A Note From Hercules

I had an eventful morning today, more tests at the vet.  Worst part, I didn't get to eat breakfast until I returned home late this morning!  But I did get to say hello to my friends at the office.  Mom says we'll have the results in a few days.

Meanwhile, more pills, at least Mom hides them in pumpkin or a piece of cheese, which means more snacks for me; my bratty foster sister gets to watch while I eat, Mom protects me, otherwise Abigail will steal them.  Don't care if she gets the pills, just so long as I get the food...  I do have priorities!
My skin is looking and feeling a lot better, the infections are starting to heal, though Dr Snyder prescribed more antibiotics cause it's not perfect yet.

Life is good here, I've met the neighbors, they're really nice to me.  Everyone wants to say hello, they tell me what a nice boy I am, check on my health, and give me gentle pets: I just love the attention.  One problem, though, Mom won't let me have the center of the bed cause I like to sprawl.  She says it's sweet that I like to cuddle, but it defeats the purpose if there's no room for her to get in the bed.
I received another gift today, a houndstooth sweater, but I don't know who sent it cause it didn't include a gift card.  Thank you so much for thinking of me.

Goodbye for now, I'll write again when I get my test results,
Hercules/Herschel

Hercules, or as I prefer Herschel, received his test results very quickly, his current dose of Vetoryl is accurate and values have returned to normal.  he will need a third series of tests in October, normal protocol when beginning treatment for Cushing's, and will need additional testing periodically throughout the remainder of his life.

Sirrah Finds a Comfy Perch

Sirrah has found a new perch where she just loves to curl up and sleep. My Sadie girl used to do that but with a different section of the couch. I am letting her stay out of her “room” a little longer each day now because she seems to be fitting right in with my crew. When she is not napping she is following me around the house. She is finally relaxed enough to start some basic training. I think I am falling in love….. oh dear.

Ikie is Adopted

As you know, Ikie was our first foster and we immediately fell in love with the little one-eyed cutie as did our own 4 dogs! We happily announce that he has been adopted by a kind, loving, retired couple in Pennsylvania with three brothers for him (and 12 chickens)! He is doing wonderfully and we couldn't be happier. We were blessed to be part of his rescue and transformation. Attached are a few pictures of Ikie with our pack, with us his last day, with his new mom as they were leaving and with some of his new brothers! Looking forward to our next opportunity in a month or so when I have recuperated from shoulder surgery!

Karen Humby

This is great news!!  Congrats to you, Ike & his new family!!!  I am soooooo happy when a great old boy like Ikie finds happiness in what seems like his perfect place!  Great job Karen!

Hercules is Thrilled

Hercules is thrilled, says it's like an early Hanukkah: gifts arriving every day!
Auntie Linda Marowitz and her Papillon rescue, Hogan, sent Hercules a new collar, leash, and harness in bright cheerful colors.  He's so excited to have new accessories.  He'll have to wait a bit before he wears the collar until his neck heals some more, but wanted to model all his new things.
Licks and Biscuits to Linda and Hogan xoxoxo

Hercules wrote his own note to us:

Hi, Hercules here!  Life is so exciting, more presents!  Mom got in the spirit of gift giving so I got two new T-shirts to keep me comfortable indoors when it cools down, she said it was a good deal, half price at Petco; I need the additional covering cause there's not much hair left, Mom says it's a side effect of the Cushing's disease.  She got me an ID tag too, with our names and phone numbers, also tells people I am deaf.  And she sent in the application to the AKC to have my microchip ownership transferred to NEBTR and her, she's not taking any chances in case I ever get out: I told her I don't want to go back to where I was before, life is so much better here, she's not taking any chances.

Saw some people today who met me when I first arrived: they said I looked so much happier and healthier, my whole attitude is changed and I actually prance when we walk.  To build up some muscle, Mom walks me three or four miles every day, starting after my breakfast, when we do two miles, followed by shorter walks throughout the day.  We walk in the nature preserve cause the sand is nice and soft, but Mom says we do have to watch out for the ticks.

Monday I'm going to spend the day at my vet, more tests to see if my medication is the right dose, Mom wants me to be healthy.

Mom has started calling me Herschel, after the famous brother and sister astronomers William and Caroline; she says I'm too gentle and peaceful for a name like Hercules.  Doesn't really matter, I can't hear her anyway...

Well, that's all for now, but I'll update you when my tests come back.
