Buttons Barks for a Cause

You are familiar with the "Bucket Challenge", well someone has come up
with a "Bark Challenge" and I've just made a video of one of the pups.
The challenge is easy so that everyone or any age can be involved. It
involves taking a video of your dog barking (They can bark once or as
long as 10 seconds as you don’t want to disturb your neighbors.) At the
beginning of your video say your dog’s name, where you are from and what
LOCAL rescue or no-kill shelter you are supporting, post that video to
social media, and then nominate at least 3 others with dogs to do the
same. Those who do the challenge are also asked to donate at least . $10
or more to the rescue or shelter they support.
1--Make a video of your dog barking
2--Nominate at least 3 of your friends to do the same
3--Donate to your favorite rescue or shelter
It is that simple and anyone of age can get involved. Have fun making
the video. If your dog doesn't bark, then have them beg, or roll over, etc.

Buttons challenged, Fudge fostered by Beth Powell McFadden, Doby
fostered by Maria Pastuszak, and Buster Bear fostered by Bonnie Towner.

Rocco Received a Package

I had one heck of a time keeping him from grabbing the tennis balls it's all he had his mind set on was those Kong balls there his ultimate favorite LOL He finally dropped the ball and is chewing on his nylabone. Thank you Stacie you picked out great toys as always it seems like you know just what they like.

Update on Muggsy Bogues, Formerly WIllie

I am happy to help! I am back in NY so would love to help volunteering here and there.

Willie is doing amazing :) His adopted name is Muggsy Bogues :) after the basketball player- small in size, big in personality. Attached are some pictures of him enjoying life. You can see that he rules my life and stole my heart from day 1. We recently moved from Chicago back to NY, so I have some pictures of him enjoying Chicago's shoreline and the ride to NY along with a picture in Central Park. He is quite the love bug- snuggles with you on the couch, sleeps between your legs at night and is relentless with his kisses.

Thank you for allowing me the beautiful opportunity to adopt Muggsy. He is the joy of my life and I don't know what life was like before him :)

Happy First Anniversary, Logan!!

As I approach the first anniversary of my adoption of Logan I wanted to write to express how much joy he has brought to our lives. Logan has become part of our family almost instantly. He is a goofy guy who loves everyone and everyone loves him that comes into contact with. He is a wonderful companion to his Boston sister Lola and has become a protector and guardian to his new baby sisters, Brooklyn and Charlotte. He is sweet and gentle with them, always the first to cuddle up with then for a nap! Thank you for all the hard work you all continue to do giving amazing dogs a second chance on life.

Adoptable Pup Wishlist! LUNA

Oh hi new friends! I'm Luna, aren't I a cutie patootie?

I'm settling into my foster home here and I've been a very good girl. The only thing is, I don't have a crate and some other necessary things to start my new life out on the right paw.

I would love some things to make me feel more at home here... Could you maybe send me a little trinket? I'll love ya forever!

Butch Says Thanks

I just wanted to quickly thank Melissa Smith and Paul Goodwin for the items them purchased for Butch from his wishlist.  There were two other shipments I received from Amazon, but there was no name or card in the boxes.  Thank you everyone for fulfilling Butch's needs and wants.  He was very happy this week receiving all those packages.

Puka/Lilly and Her New Family

I love seeing pictures of my sweet former foster enjoying hanging with her new family, with Ollie to the right and Zoey to her left.  Lilly and Ollie look like they could be related-so cute!!
Denice

Awe how cute is that they all get along together and yes they could almost be twins. Ya gotta just love happy endings when we find the perfect home for them. It's so sad letting them go but you know you have found a home where they will continue to get the love they had with you for a short time.  - Bonnie

It's been 20 yrs since I have tossed a Frisbee so don't laugh Buster Bear thoug my throwing and rolling worked just fine LOL

Miss Remy Plots Revenge

Maybe I'm just paranoid........

but I can't help but think that foster Remy still hasn't forgiven me for her recent belated birthday photo shoot. I keep finding her huddled with her furry friends and am convinced she is rallying her troops against me.  Yeah yeah I know they LOOK like they are sleeping but trust me they are plotting against me lol.

P.S.  Remy's favorite toy seems to make an appearance in a lot of her pictures.  Thanks again Liz Lewis Fee!

Myrtle Goes to the Vet

So I have had Myrtle in my care since May and her itchy skin and hair loss has not improved much in the past few months-her other ailments (anemia, elevated WBC count, hematoma on her ear) have all improved though.

We went to see a specialist today for her skin and he thinks that because she has had this going on for so long (2 plus years according to her paperwork) it is just a very stubborn infection and the treatments we were doing for her were just scratching the surface.  He prescribed Apoquel (which from what I understand is fairly hard to get due to a shortage, so I feel fortunate), and hopefully we should see results within a few days.

Time is a bit of the essence as she needs a life saving heart surgery too, but the cardiologist won't perform surgery until she is better as he thinks it could compromise her health.  This poor little girl is only 5, but seems like she has been through hell, so keeping fingers crossed that this Apoquel works!!!

Happy Gotcha Day Brain

Happy First Gotcha Anniversary AND a very Happy 10th Birthday to my former foster, Brain (fka Porter).

He is living an amazing life with his Dad, Joseph, who says:  "It's been a spectacular year. I feel like Brain and I know each other for much longer.  He truly is the best, and we were a great match!"

Lucky boys!!!

I Loved You Best

I came across this poem by Jim Willis and was touched to share it. I’m sure many have read it before, but it made me remember all my furry friends that I have loved over my lifetime.

I Loved You Best
by Jim Willis

So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on, I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best.

Adopt Glory

Glory Hallelujah! Hi, I'm a true gentleman, quiet, well mannered, and like being with people and other dogs, enjoying gentle wrestling, playing with toys, going for short walks, and riding in the car. A svelte 17+ lbs, I'm in perfect health, with one small defect: I was born with a bad eye so it had to be removed when I was just a baby, but I'm used to that so I don't let it interfere with enjoying life! Besides, I can wear an eye patch and a pirate hat for Halloween or any party you have, I already have part of the costume, and I'm always winking at you for a bit of fun. I'm not a chewer so no need to worry about your shoes, furniture, or human toys, I'm content with my rope toy or bone.

I like having my human or another dog nearby, but I'm not a pest, that is, I'm not demanding or aggressive for attention, just happy that you are my friend. I'm peaceful, not a mean bone in my body, and laid back. I don't even need to sleep in your bed or under the blankets. Just want to know that I am loved and comfortable in my surroundings, preferably a forever home. Just seven years young, my good health assures you'll have me as your buddy for a long time.

My former owner became really ill so I and my two canine brothers, standard poodles, were surrendered to rescue when mom found out she wasn't going to get better. I was shy at first, missing my brothers and mom, adjusting to a pesky new foster sister, a new home, and a new mom, especially after spending some time in a kennel while mom was in the hospital. My foster mom is working to correct the bad habit I got into while in the kennel, namely, not minding my housebreaking manners, but I'm trying hard to be a good dog so I can be a perfect companion for you.

Wouldn't you like to have a loving dog like me? I am being fostered in Albany, New York, but looking to relocate to a new forever home.
