New Fosters Cayo Rocco and Lil Meme

Cayo is a 3 yo pure BT and Lil Meme is a 2 yo, BT/Peke mix who is just adorable.
Both are friendly.

Their owner has gone through a family tragedy in recent years as well as a job loss and she tearfully surrendered them.

Thanks to new foster Mom Debbi Stapleton for opening her heart and home to these beautiful babies!

Eddie thanks his Easter Bunny!

Old Man River (Buster) taking a snooze and Thanks Easter Bunny!

Bath Time

Tuna loves to be near the bath, just not inside it. It's fun watching Emmy grow up and really start to like him. He's still somewhat reserved around her but knows she's a reliable food source ;)

I'm renaming my home...

We will hereby be known as "The Sunny Sunday Boston Terrier Retirement Home."

I love it! Love it! Love it!  The happiness is so apparent!  Sara

Scooby and sister Mandy

New Foster Scooby took his first walk with his sister today and on a double lead. They had lots of fun and even shared a treat from the same basket when they got home. I think Scooby is rather fond of his pretty sister Mandy. Scooby says, Mandy is very mellow and maybe some of that will rub off on me because I get nervous when foster mom leaves the house. But me and foster mom are working on it!

Tilly Says Thanks for the Easter Basket

My dear sweet BFF Tilly   would like to thank all for the Poochey Chef Easter Basket. Cate  D'Orazio you are so very thoughtful. Tilly shared these loving treats with her foster brothers and sisters.  This was such a wonderful surprise.    Thank You,  Sharon Davidson

More on Wilbur

Wilbur has had a few days to settle in, and oh my is he absolutely the sweetest dog! He is very well mannered and on the calmer side for a young guy, he LOVES playing in the yard (can only get him inside by rattling a treat bag)-he will fetch anything, but loves sticks and tennis balls.  So far I cannot find a thing he needs to work on, he truly is a great dog! He is reportedly very good with young kids, and I can see that being as gentle as he is.  He will keep himself entertained all day with a bone or a stuffed toy, but does like to curl up next to his people too, so a nice mix of loving but independent.  He will be going to vet in a few days after he has completely settled in for a check up, but came to us already neutered and UTD on vaccinations.  Here are some pics of the handsome Wilbur from this morning!

Mandy in Her New Home

Mandy is doing great in her new home!  Her new family loves her. She settled in right away, as I expected!  She is such an easygoing girl. Her new mom is considering registering her as a therapy dog :) It was quite a journey for Mandy on Sunday from Pittsburgh, Pa to New Hampshire! Thanks again to the volunteers who helped pull together the transport so quickly.

Rainbow Bridge for Rescuers

The Bridge - Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before.

But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch.

It wasn't long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But, alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over Rainbow Bridge. With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other ani mals like himself, also elderly and infirm. They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge.

And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.

One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him.

"You see, that poor animal was a rescue. He was turned in to rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge."

The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, "So what will happen now?"

As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life.

"Watch, and see.", said the second animal. A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together.

"What happened?"

"That was a rescuer. The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one, final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn't place on earth across The Rainbow Bridge."

The first animal said, "I think I love rescuers".

The second animal said, "God does too".

Thank you so much to Debbie Clair for my gift.  I got an awesome Poocheychef Easter gift basket from Debbie!  My Mom was trying to get a good picture of me to share but I was so excited about my basket that I couldn't look up at her. Polka Headed Home!

Polka traveled west last week on an NEBTR transport from Saugerties NY to Pittsburg, PA - thank you to all who jumped in to get her there. Polka spent the week tormenting the resident cat and was sent on a transport back this weekend to the Philly area where she spent the night with us. Luckily, Marvin was approved and waiting. So Polka is now a Jersey girl and looks like she is going to be treated like a princess.

I couldn't stop smiling as I watched them head out the door. She looked like she knew she was headed home.
Thanks to Elly for fostering her, the transport teams - in both directions and Leslie who got her started on the train back to Jersey.

We love you Pokie! (that’s what I called her on her westerly transport) Jersey girls are the best kind, I should have known you were meant to be one when I met you :) Katherine

Oh she looks so happy!  I am so glad!  I'm just sorry she had to go through all that before finding the perfect home! Sara

Polka I have heard about those Jersey girls you behave yourself Ha ha Bonnie

So happy for you pretty girl - Happy gotcha Day!!

Coco Learns to Sit

Today was a break through!  I finally showed my foster Mama today that I do know how to sit!! We've been working on this for a while now and I know she's super proud of me! What command is up next?!

Coco

Free to a Good Home (humor)

Saw this on Facebook and it made me LOL!

Craig's List: Free to a good home.

My girlfriend doesn't like my Boston Terrier, so I appeal to you. She is a purebred from a wealthy area and I have had her 4 years. She likes to play games. Not totally trained. Has long hair so she's a little high maintenance, especially with her nails, but she loves having them done. Stays up all night yapping but sleeps while I work. Only eats the best, most expensive food. Will NEVER greet you at the door after a long day or give you unconditional love when you're down. Does not bite but she can be mean as hell!  So... anyone interested in my 30-year-old, selfish, wicked, gold-digging girlfriend? Come and get her! Me and my dog want her re-homed!!

Love it!!   Ditch the bitch!  Not the dog!  LOL

On the Parting of a Friend

So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on, I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best.

-Jim Willis

Cal Goes to the Rainbow Bridge

With an absolutely shattered heart, my beloved Cal went to the bridge today. He was fine yesterday. Got up this morning and he was really lethargic. I picked him up and put him on my lap--he had a lot of bruising in his inguinal area. I knew something was very wrong. Got him to the ER and they took him back immediately. His temp dropped from 99 to 94 degrees in minutes, the bruising covered his entire abdomen. The blood work showed his RBCs were scant and he had no clotting factors. I decided to let him go. His chances were already slim but with his severe seizure disorder, I could not think about anything except him. He left this world in my arms, snuggled under my chin.

Cal was the last of the "PA Dogs" we took in around 6 years ago. Julie Klam, Diane L and I think Karen K were all blessed with these incredibly sweet, gentle dogs.

Run free, Caliban. You gave us so much more than we could ever give you.
Hug your pups an extra time tonight.
Joy

Our hearts are crying with you.  It is so hard to lose these babies that we have loved so much.  You gave him a wonderful life and so much love.  Run Free, Caliban, go play with the angels.

Cal was very loved and left this world knowing that.  What a lucky guy to have found you and you him.  Rest in peace Cal.

I am so sorry for your loss of Cal but he left knowing you loved him as you held him close. Run free little Cal

Scooby does the Boston Boogie

I don't normally ever work Mondays but helped a friend who had to go out of town really early. So went over to get the boys up and off to the school bus. I was only gone for a couple of hours but when I came home Scooby did the Boston Boogie to greet me. He hadn't done that until today so made me feel good to see him shake his little booty. He seems to be feeling a little better today and is breathing through his nose again.. Is eating his dog food so hoping he is back to normal soon.

Note - the picture below is not one with Scooby doing the Boogie - we just wanted to show you how terribly cute this boy is....

Wade and Louie

Hi all!  Both of my fosters finished their medications today (except for louie's benadryl...he still licks a bit),  pretty excited, it would seem Wade's Rimadyl does NOT agree with his belly :(

Luckily I have off today, so I can hang out and cuddle him all day :)

Erin

Awe they look quite content. They will love having you home to spoil them all day:)

New Foster Wilbur

Wilbur is an almost 11month old male owner surrender due to owner health issues.  I picked him up today from the very tearful owner, it was a very difficult choice she made, but she felt it was best for him.  He is 25lb, neutered, great with kids and other dogs (cats unknown), does great in the car and surprisingly very calm for such a young boy.  We just got home and played a game of fetch in this lovely rain and he seems to love chasing a ball.  He is getting all settled in right now, more updates to come as I learn more about this sweetie!

AWE how cute is this baby boy??!!Loved the pic of him riding in the car with his eyes closed as if he has no care in the world. Welcome to Wilbur and looking forward to hearing more about you.
