NEBTR at PetAPalooza

 Buttons and her bandage

 Our NEBTR table

 Jeanne Dross with Steve Caporizzo
Jeanne's foster Buttons meeting some Boston friends.

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets online and at the even today.  We raised $117 at Petapalooza in Ballston Spa between the raffle, donations and homemade organic dog treats and $240.10 through the online raffle for a  total of  $357.10 for NEBTR.  Our organization and available dogs got a lot of attention thanks to Jeanne, Straussie , Jeanne's foster Buttons (who is super cute!) and Straussie's pups Buddy & Iggy.  We also had a chance to see Gus who was adopted from NEBTR just a couple weeks ago.  Gus was looking quite happy with his parents!  A great day out, thanks to Jeanne Dross for leading the event for NEBTR. Raffle gift baskets and a check to NEBTR will go out on Monday.
Cynthia Kaiser

Thanks to Cindy Kaiser, Jeanne Dross, and all the others who supported NEBTR at this event!

Buttons at PetAPalooza

Little Butt's injury to her foot started bleeding yesterday and, when it started again today, we made another visit to the vet this afternoon.  Little Butt's toes on her left front paw appear to be abrasions along the base of the quick, Dr Snyder cleaned the area and applied padded bandages, which we are hoping will give the foot a chance to heal.  The injury will be checked again on Monday.  Cute bandage, little paw prints.
To keep the bandage clean, I stopped and bought baby crew socks, with colors matching her new collar and harness, plus, if the ground is wet, the socks will make it easier to keep a plastic bag in place so that the bandage stays dry.
She behaved perfectly at the vet and hasn't even tried to take off the bandage or sock.  She was more interested in meeting people at the vet and exploring the office.
We are all set for PetAPalooza!

NEBTR at PetAPalooza

GOING ON RIGHT NOW!MEET NEBTRPetAPalooza today! From 10-3 in Ballston Spa NY at Curtis Lumber
Posted by Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue on Saturday, 20 June 2015

Cynthia Kaiser did a terrific job creating raffle baskets to raise funds for NEBTR, the main source of the money NEBTR raised.  And a lot of people stopped by our booth to view the tri-fold poster, featuring our current fosters, that Cynthia made.  A woman who works in the charitable branch from a major company says her company makes a donation to all rescue participants so we may be receiving a donation from them; due to the barking, could not hear the name of the company.

Strausie Stephens' two fur kids attracted a lot of attention, as did Little Butt, with her red sock.  And Strausie generously gave Little Butt an orthopedic dog bed, which she hasn't left except to eat.
Great opportunity for outreach!  A couple stopped by hoping to meet Winston and Daisy because they want to adopt them, a number of people asked about adoption and took brochures, we may have some new volunteers, and some int erest was generated for Little Butt, the bright red sock over the bandages drew a lot of people.

Surprised that the home-made organic dog treats did not sell well; next year  we'll make less, and Strausie is going to learn how to make braided dog pull toys.  We have a year to plan.
Benson's Pet Center, a locally owned company specializing in healthy pet food, donated a whole truck full of quality food: at the end of the day, they give away the rest to the rescues that participate in PetAPalooza.
Fortunately for all of us, the cats were kept in Curtis Lumber's main store, while we were outside under tents to keep the dogs cools. Curtis Lumber started and pays for this event every year, the owners are animal rescuers, and it is so well organized, with volunteers helping us unload and carry our things to our assigned table, saving a lot of effort.

A terrific day and a lot of fun!

Kristy and I, with the help of her husband and my fiance, had a table at the Pet Adoption and Care Fair today in  PA.  It rained a lot of the time:( we made about $40 in donations but our fosters got a lot of attention!   We were really proud of Sully.  He was barking at first but then calmed down and met a lot of people and dogs and was well behaved.  Bella gave out lots of kisses!

New Foster Buttons

My new foster, Buttons aka Little Butt. She's a Texas girl, brought up from the Lone Star State to north Jersey after her Mom died. The daughter drove down to get her, intending to keep her, but Little Butt was attacked twice by the resident Pitbull so she was surrendered to Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue for her own safety. Little Butt is ten years old, looks half that age, and is a sweet girl. She's a beautiful seal color, but the red undertones don't show up in the photo. She's quiet and dignified, but snores and snorts like a Bulldog!

Jeanne Dross

She's sounds like quite a lady and she is very pretty. Thank you for giving her another chance. - Stacie

Chubby In Her Forever Home

I received a wonderful update from Chubby's adoptive parents the other day;

"Chubby is doing great and very much loved here in our house. She is an amazing dog. She even likes sleeping with the kitties. We want to thank you and everyone else at the rescue for bringing her into our family. The work you all do is truly amazing."

Kelly Gribschaw

Bouncy Bella

I have had Bella for over 2 weeks now and she had her wellness check.  She was so silly at the vet!  It was hysterical watching them try to examine her.  She was wiggling , tried jumping up and was play biting their hands.  The energy she has is crazy!  She is calming down at home now.  She may be getting the most exercise she ever had, having previously lived with a senior and no fenced yard.  When she gets too wound up I stop whatever we're doing so she knows it's unacceptable.  She needs more work on housebreaking,  but has been pretty good the last few days.  But she's ready for a home that will continue training! Attached some pics....actually got a rare moment - she was laying down!

Hello From Delgado

Hello from Delgado,

He is the best dog ever! Delgado has no behavior issues that I can find other than being stubborn which is a Beagle trait. He sits when I ask him too and automatically when being offered a treat. Today, for the first time, he walked beside me rather than trying to pull me. I guess he finally figured out I have more determination than he does. I still cannot figure out if he is hard of hearing or has selective hearing. Sometimes he comes when I call him and sometimes he ignores me.

It has been very warm here so I have been letting him out of his kennel more often. There is one picture of him with his toy lamb and Baabee and Sophie are asleep on th e couch behind him. Then there is the picture of my Sadie following him to the ramp off the back deck. (She just likes to keep tabs on him). There have been absolutely no altercations and it’s like he has been here forever. On Tuesday my IG, Baabee, finally defended himself and told Delgado in no uncertain terms that he will not be dominated. Baabee is a very fearful dog, so for him to do that is a miracle. He must have sensed that Delgado is not really a dominate dog. Sadie, who is bossy anyway, put him in his place the first thing. They were chasing each other yesterday being very playful.

All in all he will make someone a very wonderful pet. He would do well in a house with multiple dogs and children ( he has met several young kids on our walks). He loves the attention but is not an overly needy dog. He likes to sit on you lap, but also like his space sometimes. He goes in his kennel without resisting and he is completely house broken. He has not had an accident in the house since he got here. Like I said earlier….. I love this dog!

Sandy Z., Foster Mom to Delgado

Ozzy at Three Rivers Arts Festival

Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue's foster Ozzy spent the day at the Three Rivers Arts Festival on Sunday listening to music by the Alvvays, browsing talented vendors, eating some yummy food and playing in the fountain. We also took this day to spread the "Animal Loving - Boston Rescuing word' - to the festival go-ers.

Ozzy did all the work. I provided some knowledge here and there.

To everyone we met while walking around and we told about the "upcoming event near Pittsburgh." It is now posted in our events section! (12th Annual Pet Adoption and Care Fair - June 20th from 9:30 - 2:30pm in Upper St. Clair at Westminster Church on Rt 19) I hope to see you all there!!

A few of our local fosters will be at the event with their foster parents. There will be homemade treats, toys, stickers, bracelets, information about our current adoptable pups, and information about becoming a volunteer, fostering or adopting!

Come meet Ozzy, Abby and many more!

-Kelly G.
