Adoptable Pup Spotlight! COOPER
Adoptable Pup Spotlight! COOPER
Meet Cooper, a sweet cuddle bug who’s looking for his forever home. Cooper is a healthy 6-year old surrender who has always had good medical care. He loves going for walks, rides in the car, and running in the yard. One of his favorite activities is getting a tummy rub. If he thinks he hasn’t had enough of your attention that day, he’ll come over and put his paw on your arm so you remember that he’s in need of your affection.
Even though he’s a big guy, about 27 lbs., he‘s afraid of thunder and will hide under the bed during a storm. He loves people, but not other dogs, and is leery of small children because they can be annoying not knowing how to treat a dog. He is very intelligent, trainable and housebroken.
If you think yours might be Cooper's "furever home," please fill out an application on our website ASAP! Also, send us a message or leave a comment letting us know you're interested.

Happy Mother's Day From Fiona
I am sunning myself with my foster momma because usually I like to sit
outside the shower door and wait for her but today I thought it would be
fun to get in the shower too!

Princess Nala is Adopted
Little Nala was adopted today by the Stauffer family. She
seems like the perfect dog for their family. I am just so happy for
her!
She went from being kept in a crate in her own filth and
neglected to being a pampered Princess sleeping wherever she wants,
guarding the neighborhood from the front window of the house and of
course getting regular manicures.
I could not be more proud of her!
Here is a pic of her in her new home enjoying her very own
tennis ball. She's always had to share her toys. Now she gets them all
to herself with two little girls who are excited to dress her up and paint her nails!

Update on Duncan
Duncan came into my foster care the second weekend of March as a
scared old man who liked to pee anytime I left him alone for two
seconds.
I just wanted to share the improvements I have seen in him within the last two months.
Duncan still prefers to be by my side when I work from home and will make up a nice bed in my home office, but he has become more independent and will sometimes go to a different room of the house to take a nap without having any issues.
One of my biggest triumphs is that we have overcome his separation anxiety. For the first month, whenever I left the home, I would always put him in my kitchen and gate him in, but no matter how many toys he had, or how comfortable I made his bed, or how many times I let him out before I left, he would always pee all over the kitchen and pace endlessly until I returned. I could tell that me being away and him being gated was a huge stress for him.
Once he became familiar with my home and his surroundings, I started letting him home alone WITHOUT being gated in the kitchen for small amounts of time to see how he did. I gave him free range of my living room and kitchen, but closed the doors to my other rooms so he didn't have access to them. When I leave, I have him go on the couch with a blanket, turn the TV on, and give him a treat. I would only leave for a few minutes at a time to show that I always came back. I started increasing the time and now we are up to 4 hours where he is fine on his own and I always come home to find him asleep on the couch - no pacing, and no pee!
I had a business trip this weekend, so I had a friend take care of him for a few days. My friend works during the day, but Duncan was able to be alone for 8 hours a day with a half hour visit for lunch from my friend and he did great! When I came home, he was so full of energy and I can see a big improvement in his demeanor and confidence.

Just goes to show you can teach and old dog new tricks. With unconditional love from his wonderful foster mom, we are thrilled to learn of his improvement!

Happy Mother's Day
by Diane Morgan
I am the bridge
Between what was and what can be.
I am the pathway to a new life.
I am made of mush,
Because my heart melted when I saw you,
confused and sore, limping, depressed,
Lonely, unwanted, afraid to love.
For one little time you are mine.
I will feed you with my own hand
I will love you with my whole heart
I will make you whole.
I am made of steel.
Because when the time comes,
When you are well, and sleek,
When your eyes shine,
And your tail wags with joy
Then comes the hard part.
I will let you go -- not without a tear,
But without a regret.
For you are safe forever— HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL OF MY FOSTER PARENTS
