Update on Foster Benji

I wanted to give everyone an update on my first foster Benji. I have had Benji for about a month now. We he first arrived he had a nasty eye infection. He saw the vet who diagnosed him with dry eye as well as an eye infection. She feels that he is probably closer to 13 years old rather than the 8 I was expecting. You can probably see from his photos that he is very grey in the face and legs. He has bad teeth and will be going for a dental cleaning and probable extraction this month. He was placed on a oral antibiotic and two eye ointments to treat the dry eye and infection.

My mother in law has been staying with us to care for Benji. On nice days they spend hours outside and he loves to roll in the grass and smell the air. He also loves to go for car rides.

He appears to really love people and food. I suspect he will be perfect for an older person with no other dogs.

He is overweight at 27 pounds. 27 pounds may not sound like much if you are accustomed to the bigger Bostons but he is short and compact so he resembles a meatball with legs. At the vets suggestion he was been receiving 1/4 cup of dog food twice a day with canned pumpkin.

He is looking healthier and has more energy than when he first arrived.

Thank you,
