New Foster Rusty

Rusty came into the NYC shelter as an owner surrender with limited information. It was reported by the owner Rusty have a previous bite history. The owner son suffered from ADHD and was being very rough around Rusty, that's when Rusty bit the son on the left knee and left side of his abdomen while running in the house. During behavior testing at the shelter, Rusty came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Rusty joins the game during the tag interaction and during the resources portion of the assessment Rusty was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Rusty seems to be provoked by the owner son and was uncomfortable with the son displaying very high energy.

So it would seem that if not for the child in his previous home, the dog's behavior is acceptable.
We will get to know him better and find out!
