Welcome New Foster - Renzo!!

I picked up my first foster Renzo  yesterday. He is a 1 year old owner surrender and just about as cute as he can be!  He lived with 4 young children and is reportedly good with other dogs (I have 3 but they have been separated from him)-I took him to the news segment filming with Sara yesterday and he was very interested in the other dogs there-he is a very curious little guy.  Will try to get him neutered next week, as he tries to mark everything as well as get a little too "friendly" with his stuffed soccer ball (wink, wink).  Here are some pictures of this little munchkin....

HaNa Goes to the Rainbow Bridge

We will miss this little one, thank you to Catherine and Robert, her family for adopting her.

"Hello...I wanted to let you know that foster Ha-Na (fostered by Amy Angelo) crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. She had 4 years in her forever home in Brooklyn filled with love and treats and she passed peacefully. I've attached a pic of her in happier and healthier times."

Thank you to the special family who took care of her until the end, and to all the NEBTR volunteers, and especially Amy Angelo, her foster mom, who work tirelessly to find perfect homes just like this one every day. 

So sorry for your loss...thank you for adopting her and making her last years wonderful and full of love!!! RIP sweet girl.

New Foster Silas

Poor Silas. He is one sad dude. His skin is 10 times worse than his pictures. And has a pretty bad limp on his left front leg.

Smokey Is Adopted

"Hi Lisa,

I just wanted to let you know I am very happy in my new home. My new owners just think I am a WONDERFUL dog. I have been very good no problems what so ever. I have not left their side since I got here. I go to any room they are in to be near them. When I get petted by Marty I move around so his hand is on my rear end and he scratches my rear for a long time no problems. I have already learned to take my treats from him nice and easy after sitting. They can tell I am a good dog and want to make them happy and I do. I do insist on a lot of attention and most of the time I get it. I get on well with my sister Mindy, she just likes to lay around a lot and we do so together. Inez gave me my own blanket and at first I started to chew it but when I was told no I stopped and have not chewed on it since. I have had 3 long walks in my new neighborhood and let everyone know I was there.

I want to thank you for taking such good care of me until Marty and Inez adopted me. I seem to be very content and happy here and very different then they thought based on my history and what they were told. Marty even joked that maybe you brought the wrong dog lol.

Mill Dog Rescue

These three just were released to rescue by an Indiana puppy mill.  Welcome to the rest of your lives, babies!  Here they are pictured with their new foster families.  Watch for more to come!

Update on Breezy

Forever foster Breezy living happy in California, still cancer free! Diabetes is under much better control, infections happening much less frequently, and her weight is right on target. Couldn't have asked for a better little friend

NEBTR and Station ABC

Thanks so Sara McLaughlin,  NEBTR will be featured on a segment of Station 6abc in Philadelphia on November 30 at the 9:30 am newscast.  Sara spearheaded a contest to vote for NEBTR, and just got the good news that we won!  It will also be posted on their website after airing so we will all be able to see it.

In preparation for this story, some NEBTR members and fosters met with Marilyn Phister of ABC. 

Amazing job, Sara!  What a spectacular job, you are all amazing! This will be an incredible opportunity to open doors and raise awareness, bless all who are making this happen!

Joy Riley writes, "WOW-what a fun time taping the segment for WPVI (ABC--Philly) this afternoon at Sara's charming home in Collingswood, NJ. We had 4 of the cutest, nicest little boy fosters ever. A huge shout out to Sara; Craig and Turbo; Carrie and Renzo; Liz and Booker and the Carrolls with Winston. And, an even bigger shout out to all of you who wore your fingers to nubs voting!
Carrie, Renzo and I will finish taping in the studio on Tuesday. The show will air on Sat. 11/30 at 9:00 am EST. It will also be on their website.
What an honor to be a part of such dedicated, fun volunteers. Although none of us had ever met in person before, it was instantly "family." "

Liz notes, " Booker and I had a great time! Thanks so much for including us. Booker is excited to see himself on tv with his new Boston pals! If Renzo doesn't get scooped up after the show, then something is terribly wrong with people!"

New Foster Booker

Booker is a very handsome man, very well mannered and sweet as can be.


Booker had his wellness visit yesterday and it didn't go well.

As I suspected, he is blind. He has cataracts in both eyes and has very limited sight. He has very bad teeth, a fracture in one and the rest are pretty rotten. But, the worst news is that he has a mast cell tumor on his hind leg. I noticed it the night before the visit and had the vet check it out. They did an aspiration and that's what it is.
I'm going to set him up for surgery and get him better! 

He is just the greatest guy! We are all in love with him and want to see him get better and thrive even more than he already is!

I have added a few photos of Booker, with my gang. I'll add more, to see him is to love him!

Update on Ziggy

Beautiful Ziggy was adopted by Julie Ragolia nearly 7 years ago.  He was fostered by the late Sue McGreevy, having been taken to the shelter as part of a drug raid.

Julie writes, "He is the most wonderful dog, and I feel so blessed to have him."

Update on Olivia

Olivia is one of the pups that  foster Mandy delivered on New Year's Eve 2011.  She was adopted by Jesse Lehrer.

Jesse writes:

"I was living with Lara Anderson when we were fostering Mandy - she ended up giving birth in our apartment and we adopted out her 3 pups, one to me, named Olivia."

 

Olivia has grown into a beautiful and well loved dog.  She has, however, developed recurrent skin  problems, and Jesse has been getting her all the medical care that she needs.  To assist him in this, Jesse has started a fundraiser to help with her care.  You can read more about Olivia here, and make a donation if her story moves you.
