Update on Myrtle

We took Myrtle to the dermatologist about 2 weeks ago and he prescribed Apoquel, of course I was skeptical as nothing else has worked for her skin condition and hair loss, but I am happy to say we have seen a HUGE improvement!!!!  Her itching is about 95% better and she seems to have more energy, although we have only seen a little hair growth on her face.   I am so happy she is feeling better and not scratching herself raw, I really didn't know what else to do for her and she was so uncomfortable.   I am not a fan of pumping dogs full of meds and tried the holistic approach to this, but the infection she has is really stubborn and the homeopathics were just not helping her skin.  We will post more as her condition approves!!!

What Buster Bear Can Do

Great job, Bonnie!  He's a cutie!

BusterB does obedience like he has been doing it his whole life. He is so easy to walk now and will even walk in the pet store with a cart, he knows to always stay on the left. I started doing a few extra things with him on an off leash training he sits he lays, crawls rolls over and  trying to get the shake down pat but still working on that. He loves the extra attention he gets from me so he's eager to please.

What Bruno Did This Summer

Here is an update from that super dog Bruno.  He is the one with the martini glass and olive marking on his back.  :)
His forever home sent in an update on what Bruno has been doing this summer.  Lucky DOG!

What Bruno Did this Summer

Bruno's summer started out a bit rocky.  His skin tag (which my dad affectionately called his "hashtag")  got infected and needed to be removed.  But, in typical Bruno fashion, he handled the procedure like a champ and the vet said he snored louder and drooled more than any other dog she's had in recovery - I'm so proud!

Given our mild summer, Bruno was able to spent a lot of time outdoors.  We took a 10 minute drive to the park once a week or so (this way he gets two for one - a walk by the pond and a ride)  and then we grabbed a little vanilla ice cream on the way home.  Bruno LOVES vanilla ice cream.

When I flew across the country to visit family, Bruno stayed with friends and their dog Clark.  The two did pretty well together and he quickly became a favorite among the residents of the condo complex.

Bruno and I walk EVERYWHERE!  If it's hot we stop 5 or 6 times for water (portable water bowl - best purchase I ever made) and sit in the shade.  If the temps are on our side Bruno can walk for miles.  He's such a trooper!

I have recently acquired a nest and baby pigeons under my deck and Bruno can spend hours just peeping through the deck floor to get a glimpse of the birds.

Lastly,  Bruno has become the best morning alarm clock.  He comes into my room (he has his own bed in my home office across the hall) wiggles so I know he's there and then if I say okay, he jumps onto my bed, licks my face and then sleeps with me until the snooze alarm goes off and we begin our day.  I love it!

Parks, Walks, Birds, Rides and Vacations in condos by the water.  This is what Bruno's summer has been like.  Touch life!

I'm sending some pics in a separate email  of Bruno sunny himself on the deck, one with his portable water bowl on a hot walk, one at the park, one with me having tea with my neighbor and one watching the birds on the deck.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Have a wonderful last few days of summer!

Towner Toys

Bonnie,

The box of Towner Toys arrived today JUST in time for me to purchase one
to send along with Curley. He gets adopted this weekend! :)
There are only 2 pups left, but they torn into your spider creation like
it was the last toy on this earth. THEY LOVE IT!
I've attached some photos of them playing with it.
If I'm not mistaken, you have increased the amount of work you do on
each toy, and the length. Impressive indeed.

Thank you so much for all your hard work. I'll have the Towner Toys
photographed and up in the NEBTR store by tonight!

Curley is adopted!

Curley was adopted today. The children in this family were beyond good
with Curley. Never met better behaved kids in my life, and I'm OLD! lol
Just as we finished up the paperwork, the song coming over the speakers
in the PetCo was "Best Day of my Life" the adoption song that makes me
tear up!
It was a most wonderful adoption day. :)

Rondo arrived safe and sound. He is an absolute sweetheart. He follows us everywhere we go and always wants to snuggle.

He is gonna be a hard one to let go! More information to come as he settles in.

Molly now plays and enjoys all the toys but her very favorite is still the rubber ducks!  They are scattered all over the yard and you can always see her with a few of them!

Bienvenidos New Foster Rondo

I am very excited to announce that NEBTR will be taking in our very first Puerto Rican Boston on Thursday!
His name is Rondo and he is three years old and a real cutie!
I received the below email from the rescue  "Love Puerto Rican Goldens" back in mid July:
Puerto Rico has more than 200,000 homeless and abused dogs wandering the streets. They are routinely dumped into parks, schools and beaches. They are abused, burned, maimed, and shot at just for fun. Many times driven miles away so that they never find their way home again.  Rondo was one of those dogs. He was found last New Year's Eve running aimlessly through the streets of San Juan. He was scared, hungry and sad. He was rescued by the founder of Love Puerto Rico Goldens; a small nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned Golden Retrievers on the streets of Puerto Rico. She held on to Rondo hoping his owner would claim him but no one ever did. Rondo will never have a chance of finding a forever home in PR. We are are looking to place him on the mainland. He is about 3 yrs old, up to date on all his shots and neutered.   He is very sweet and mild natured. He gets along well with other dogs but will bark at intact males. He is about 18lbs.
If you can help Rondo LPRG will pay for all his travel expenses.
 Here is Rondo!
So on Thursday, Carrie Cranmer will meet Rondo and his escort at Philadelphia airport. Carrie will bring him to meet his new foster Mama, Amanda Mclean.
Rondo says - Gracias Carrie and Amanda and NEBTR for bringing me to the USA where I will have a better chance of finding the perfect forever home!
