It was two years ago today that we adopted Papi from NEBTR. We picked him up near Scranton, PA from Robin Leone and Mary Liberty, and then each of us drive home during that crazy October snowstorm.
Papi has added so much to our life.
I bought a "Who Rescued Who?" car magnet for our auction, but Bill stole it from me for himself because he really feels that in many ways Papi rescued him (it's ok, I bought another car magnet for the auction!!!).
He had glaucoma when adopted, and that has progressed to the point that he's really blind and he really can't hear either. But we still love him, love him, love him!!! We actually walk him more now because he can't run around the yard anymore since he can't see.
He still plays tug with the other dogs, and before bedtime he licks Tara's head and back to the point that she is soaked when she goes to bed. He also still flips onto his back for belly rubs all the time and the other dogs all lick him all over.
So life is good - thank you NEBTR and particularly Robin and Mary for taking such good care of him as a foster.

Wonderful videos, Deborah. I wish more people realized that a dog doesn't have to be physically perfect to be a loving and cherished pet. - Ginny
I can't believe it's been 2 yrs! I remember that drive, the roads
were terrible in PA but fine by the time we got to NY. After Papi's
adoption, Mary and I met Carolyn to pick up my next foster, Ozzy.
Papi
has come a long way from that abandoned bldg in NYC, thanks for taking
such great care of him. I had hoped the meds would keep the glaucoma at
bay but thankfully he has you, Bill and Tara by his side!
Robin
