New Foster Bella Boo
Hi everyone!!! I'm fostering a puppy mill girl from Indiana. I named her Bella Boo!!!
She came from a puppy mill in Indiana with foster Penny Lane. She is around 6 to 7 years young and in got a clean bill of health from my vet.
She is a love bug and a beautiful soul. She gets along well with my two dogs and met my rabbit today and is very good with her as well. She has the most soulful eyes!!! She is the sweetest being and is such a good girl. She doesn't mess up her crate, she's a cuddle bunny, she's very respectful, and goes potty outside with my other two dogs!!!
She was terrified on day 1 and was in bad shape. Day 3, she is more relaxed. She is a total love bug!!!
She is well mannered, goes potty outside with my other two dogs, and crate trained. She keeps her crate spotless. No anxiety or separation issues. She's good on a leash on our walks. Ignores other dogs and people if they walk by her. She met two preschoolers on our walk and she was very gentle with them and gave them little kisses. The kids loved her!!
As with all puppy mill dogs, she doesn't know how to play yet, what a toy is, etc.... I've only had her for a week and a half and she is slowly venturing out of her crate when I call her...yes, she knows her name. Miss Bella Boo is a smart cookie.
The only thing I see that she needs work on is getting her comfortable with the rest of my home. I'm using a leash so she can be with me when I move around the house and provolone cheese as a reward. I'm giving myself another three weeks and hopefully she will be ready by then.
She will make someone very happy...
Thanks,
Patti
Just look at the difference after three days in Patti's care! Thank you so much for opening your heart and home to her!
UPDATE:
We went on our first walk on Sunday along with my Boxer, Jess. She did very well on the walk. This morning we went for another walk and she was a natural...like she's been doing it for all her life. We met up with two preschoolers with their mom and she was very gentle with them. Gave them little kisses and they loved Bella Boo.
She is potty trained to go outside with my other two dogs and I can see that she is much more relaxed with going out in the yard with them. So far the only thing that is going slow, is that she still views her crate as the "safe zone". Each day I am taking her on the leash to explore another part of my home, but she's not thrilled with doing that....so I'm not forcing her.
She will make someone a great family member!!!

Daisy is Looking for a Forever Home
Just a quick update on Daisy, she finished her antibiotics, and seems to be doing much better after her vaginitus infection. The plan is to have her spayed the end of march or beginning of February. She is doing really well with her eye drops, and now knows the routine. At night she is so cute. We go to the bedroom, she sits, I do the eye drops, give her a small treat, and she pits herself in her bed in her crate and goes to sleep. What a little dear.
She is such a sweetie. I am surprised people are so put off with her eye the way it is. Last week at Lowe's, a woman and her kids fawned over her pink sweater and painted toe nails, then went from enthralled to apalled in two seconds after the woman noticed her eye. Even after I explained it was an old injury and was not painful, she hid her kids behind her legs and stopped them from petting her. She pretty much ran away. I was shocked! And the last applicant told me hee "disability" was more than she could handle.
I barely notice the eye. I guess looks are more important to people than I really realize. It really hurts my heart for her to be so easily rejected for something that is not at all her fault :(
Erin
Erin, there is a cover for every pot. There will be somebody who will see her beauty as we all do and love her because of it, not in spite of it.
It's great that she is feeling so much better. Thank you for taking such loving care of her.

Foster/Former Foster Playdate
Patrizia D'Milano says:
"Brooke, aka former NEBTR "Bklyn", had a play date with NEBTR's Chester this weekend along with Maggie the Boston, Jess my Boxer, and Nikki the Boxer. Everyone was pooped out afterwards!!"
Brooke was adopted by Patti, Chester was fostered by Janet Hassell and now is in his forever home with
Dana Ujobagy, and Maggie is Walter Williams' girl. What a fun event this must have been!
Rozie Goes to the Rainbow Bridge
Emily Tiemann writes:
My heart is heavy and sad as I learned this morning that one of our former fosters, Rozie, has passed this morning. She was recently diagnosed with cushings and started treatment including acupuncture. They expected to have more time with her so this comes as a bit of surprise.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve for their loss.

Good News for Buddy
Erin Sullivan writes:
Hi Everyone, I know he is not a BT, but I feel like everyone can always use a little good news!
The Brussels mix I had with me for a few weeks from one of the other rescues I work with finally got adopted. He was in rough shape when he was pulled from a high kill shelter in Ohio, crawling with fleas, with horrible teeth, and likely much older than the 9 years he was estimated at. Well, Lord Farquaad, now "Buddy" has finally had his dental, and went to his forever home this past weekend. He has kids to love, and they just love him! It definitely takes a special family to take on a senior like this. I am so grateful to the Brussels rescue that took him on, and so happy for this dog, I just had to share. He was at death's door mere days before he came to me, and now he has the life all dogs should have =) It just goes to show there is someone for everyone out there, we just have to keep searching!

New Foster Mayze
Meet new foster Mayze! She is 7 years old. Good with cats dogs and people =)
Special thanks to Foster Mom Charlene Miller for opening up her heart and home to this beauty!
Bosley is Adopted
Congratulations to Bosley, who was recently adopted by the Downing family.
Bosley is a handsome one and half year old Boston Terrier. There is still a lot of puppy in Bos. He loved to play with his foster brothers and sister. He enjoys exploring the yard and running like the wind. Bos is learning how to play with toys. He will be a really fun dog to train. Bosley has had some medical issues in his short life. He recently had knee surgery which will allow him to run and jump pain free.
This young boy was left on the doorstep of the Allentown Clinic vet's office one cold night a few weeks ago.
The office is the one Dawn Stone uses and they were amazing.
Here's an example of another Boston Terrier who had a rough start in life, but reacts with nothing but love.
Special thanks to Foster Mom Janice Boyer. It was through her loving care that Bosley got to blossom and be ready for his forever home.
