Thanks to the loving care of Maria Pastuszak, Maya is making definite progress.
Maria writes, “Maya, age 3, arrived Feb. 22nd, and she suffered severe trauma in a shelter for 3 months after the death of her senior owner. She is a high strung fear biter with a very short fuse. Maya has now completed private, group and home training. Maya is happy, secure and working to please her human companions. Her nub wiggled as she lovingly greeted all our guests at the Memorial Day BBQ. Maya earns everything given to her, food, treats, toys, she has mastered sit, stay, down, leave it and we continue to work on heel, she is a good girl when walking, but trauma still remains and triggers are now easily identified. Maya is a bully if allowed, therefore training is not a period in time, Maya's training must remain part of her daily life. Maya is funny, animated, loves a bit of fresh air and shaking a toy vigorously but her favorite thing is cuddling in bed.
We adore Maya, she has worked so hard to please! We are proud of this girl and one day will cry many tears when she leaves us!”
Fantastic job, Maria and family. What a turn around. It is certainly why we do what we do. Keep up the great work. I know that Maya's forever family is out there.
