Ever wonder how something like this happens? Well, here is a day in the life of NEBTR, orchestrated by one of our intake directors, Jerrliyn, and with the help of many volunteers as well as new recruited volunteers!
The dogs came from an Ohio Puppy Mill that was being shut down - we were contacted that there were 4 Boston's in the seizure; a Mom and Dad and their two 9 month old pups. At this time, they were known only as Mill Mom, Mill Dad, Mill pup #1, Mill pup #2; this is because in a puppy mill they do not have names. And the plan happened from there with moving, transporting and getting the pups to where they needed to be - it was a very long couple of days for all four rescues.
Dad and Mom were taken to their foster homes and promptly named Samson and Delilah, given baths and of course, the most important part - FREEDOM. They are currently decompressing now, each with a foster home of their own with foster moms Leslie (Delilah) and Jill (Samson).
One of our volunteers (Maria) took in the pups, Mill pup #1 and Mill pup #2, for the night before their trip to Long Island - this is where they will decompress, relax and learn to be free dog and eventually be adopted. And most importantly - NAMED!
During the process of transporting the dogs, two Dads were recruited - one Dad took the trip to the CT ferry terminal to meet up with the second Dad who took the ferry to Long Island to bring the pups to the foster mom, Linda.
It takes a village and we are blessed to have one. Stay tuned as we bring you updates on the dogs progress and eventual adoption. And thank you to all our sponsors that help us do what we do best.
One of the "recruited" transport Dads - Three cheers for the Dad's!!!
