New Foster Spot

Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue was contacted about a dog on the "urgent list" which means he was on death row. He is only 3 years old and brought in as a stray to an Animal Control facility in New York. Time was ticking down on his life and he had hours to live. A foster home was found and Spot was saved!!! By the looks of the pictures we were given he needed some serious help and we were not wrong. His condition is awful from trying to survive on the harsh streets.  When he went to his foster home it was obvious that he was in unbelievable pain from the condition of his eye. His history is completey unknown and because of the obvious pain he is in we are holding off assessing his temperament until we can give him some relief.

Spot was grabbed from death but he still has a long way to go and we desperately need help in paying for his recovery.

Denice Schaak stepped up and offered, as she has with so many other dogs, to take Spot into her heart and home.  Denice writes after the first day:

Poor, sweet, timid, sensitive Spot.  We have no knowing what kind of hard life he's had, but he's got a new beginning now.  He's had some good meals, a good night's sleep on cozy blankets and snuggly dog bed, and has finally eagerly accepted the delicious bully stick that I picked up for him yesterday.  He's cool with my cat, who is always first to meet everybody, and he's a darling boy.

Spot is going to need a lot of care and delicate attention for his poor eye.  Please keep him in your prayers, and support his recovery any way you can.  He is a young and beautiful boy, and he is now loved...

I know I may seem silly to have to share, but I am so happy with his little normal behaviors.  He brought me a little ball-rope toy for the simple act to play.  I tossed, he fetched, we tugged and battled it out merrily, then I threw and he fetched again.

This means a lot to me because he is so far from recovery and his eye area is so sensitive, but he is coming out to enjoy life little-by-little already.  His endurance is poor, so he quickly retired to lay out and nap some more.  But, it's a good sign of that wonderful little pup inside, and that he is comfortable enough to let loose and have a little fun!

He was such a good boy in his soaking Vitamin E and Aloe bath, now he's sporting his fancy new collar and rabies tag, and looking like a new little boy!  He was so grateful to get washed and collared, I'm so happy for him.

Denice & Spot

Bless his soul....he is full of love and affection that he wants to share. He probably wanted to show some love for a long time. Spot playing...what a nice thing to see.

So glad you were able to get him so quickly, the dual tag team with you and your husband is wonderful. This fellow is on his way to a very happy life!
Thank you!!

Yea!  Welcome Spot!  You can forget about all that bad stuff, you'll be living large from now on!

So happy for this little guy that he is now in a loving home and sounds like he is starting to come out of his shell.  Poor boy seems to have had some rough time but only sunny times ahead!  Thank you for taking him in and showing him what love is!
