Update on Sophia

Sophia is a great little dog & we love her very much – she bosses around poor Ringo (but they get along pretty well together).  She’s had some health issues – our vet recommended that the mammary tumor she had when we adopted her come out, so we had that done.  Then she developed another nodule in another nipple & that was removed, as well.  One of the claws on her right front paw turned black & was bleeding – we thought she had injured it & the vet recommended soaking, etc. but it didn’t get better.  Finally we took her to the vet, who removed part of the digit (I think the photo of her with the bootie on was after she had the paw surgery) & it turned out to be squamous cell carcinoma.  Luckily it seemed to be confined to the end of her toe & hasn’t spread & since then she’s been pretty healthy (apart from occasional diarrhea that we can control pretty well with medication).  Her favorite spot to sit is on the living room sofa, so we call her “Sofa-phia.”  Lately she has taken to licking my arm for 5 – 10 minutes after we go to bed!  We’d love to get another Boston at some point but are pretty full up now with Sophia, Ringo the Border Terrier & Lewis the cat.

Here are some photos of Sophia –

She’s a great little dog.
